Had Hartwood out to meet with insurance adjuster, ended up giving us a bid to replace our roof. Hartwood was in contact with our insurance company to work out some minor details. everything was going great. I called Hartwood and left a message to discuss scheduling the project and timeframes. Never heard back. Had to get another bid and go with a different contractor

Lonny at Heartwood was excellent to work with. He made sure we understood everything that was going on, kept us appraised of issues and made excellent recommendations regarding our house. Communication was A+++ (which is very important to my husband and I). I felt that he not only worked with us with our insurance claim, but also fought for us to make sure we got a fair replacement for our damaged property. He also broke the process down for us-- asking us to select replacements/colors/etc for things as they were needed instead of requiring it all right away; but provided us a full list up front so we could get to things as we were able. I appreciated Lonny's willingness to work through the scenarios with us; he entertained our ideas and gave us quotes and opinions when we asked for them. Every time we stopped by the house, all of the workers who were there (whether from Heartwood or a company working with them) were polite, helpful and friendly. For a bad, stressful situation; it was as good as I could have ever imagined it. We're back in our house now and happy with all the work done. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Heartwood to anyone.

Heartwood Construction was contacted and immediately came out the same day when we had rain water leaking in a bedroom window. They checked everything over and the problem was resolved in a few days. My experience with this company over the years has been nothing but excellent. They return calls and emails quickly. I never had to wonder if they would show up to do the job. They always arrive on time and perhaps even early. The only reason I gave them a B rating on price is due to the fact that they are a little higher priced than other contractors. But, I would MUCH rather pay the higher cost and rest easy that the work will be done right and have no worries about anything else. Heartwood Construction provides a true value for the cost of their service that you will not find from anyone else. I would recommend them in a heartbeat. You will not be disappointed.

The crew showed up on the appointed date. Where at my house early every day of the job and stayed late. They did a great job of clean up, trash and nail removal. The workers where polite and considerate. No shouting, and no loud music. Hard workers. In addition to the classic roof repair for the house and garage, they replaced a flat roof that required a rubber overlay and sealant. They also closed in the soffits where wind had damaged and pulled down the old siding. Over all I was very pleased with their service. They got the job done under their estimate cost. I have asked for and received estimates for future jobs and will probably use them for those as well.

My wife and I had the opportunity to meet Lonny around late September and in October we signed our contract to have Heartwood Construction finish our basement and build a deck. We could not be happier with the work that Heartwood construction completed. The basement is our favorite part of the house now and the quality of the work stands alone compared to the rest of the house. We moved into a new house in September and while Heartwood finished our basement they even took care of a few existing problems that the original builder had left. I have never trusted a contracting crew more in my house then I did with Heartwood. They were always polite and professional and a joy to be around. Lonny was always very open and upfront about all areas of the project including pricing. We have built two homes and had other work done before and this is the first time that absolutely no surprises showed up downstream of the start date. All promises were fulfilled and no price was changed for the worse. Estimate of project length was almost spot on and we also were kept in loop with the schedule and schedule changes. If we ever have any future house keeping needs we are at ease knowing that we have met such a reliable and great company. Thank you.

No problems with the repairs; they did a nice job of matching to older shingles on the roof.

On the first call, I was told that Heartwood was two weeks out for new projects. This property is a rental and timing was very important. I was okay with two weeks. Heartwood sent a rep out quickly and had an estimate back to me within the week, which is great. Estimate was very high and charged profit three times. Once on each individual item, once for base service charges, and again as an extra line item of profit and overhead. I am all for making and charging profit. But it was excessive. The pricing was more inline with what you might see on an insurance job where it is a third party paying for it. As a positive, how ever high I felt their prices are, at least they were upfront about it. I called Heartwood back after looking at the estimate for one week, hoping to work out a better price. I was told that 2 weeks out never existed, not sure why the original guy said that. I was told they were more like 6-8 weeks out. That's great, but had I known that from the get-go I would have moved on to another contractor, now I was 2 weeks behind (one week for estimate, and one week for my review). Overall, this company far more than I was willing to pay and dishonest about their availability from the first conversation.

After calling 4 different companies to get a quote for our roof we choose Heartwood Construction because of the time Terry gave in answering my questions. After the initial communication between Terry and myself it went downhill from that point. I had to constantly call to find out when he was coming out or where the roofers were. When I called to tell him that we had decided to go with their company, he said he would come out before the end of the week to sign the contract. That week went by and he didn’t stop by or call to say he wasn’t coming. I called the following week and he told me that there were some family issues but he would be out soon. He did finally showed up and I signed the contract, when asked when they would get started he told me, he had to look at the calendar when he got back to his office to give me a date. A few days went by and after not hearing anything, and I called him to ask when I could expect my roof to be started. He told me that they would be out to take care of the roof the beginning of the second week of September. I waited until Wednesday of that week to call as I had not heard anything and no one showed up to start my roof. Terry told me that because of the weather they had gotten behind and would be able to start my roof on Monday. When I asked what time I could expect the roofers he told me between 8:00 and 8:30. Monday came and no one was at my house and it was 9:00 a.m. I did receive a call a little after 9:00 from Terry stating that one of the guys ‘ wife had a new baby and he had to go to the Dr’s appointment and should be there right after. Terry also told me that the shingles should be there shortly as well as the dumpster I waited until 11:00 and finally called the main office after I tried to call Terry’s cell number, and ask why there was no one at my house yet. I explained what Terry had told me when he called at 9:00. He told me he would find out and call me back. I waited 45 minutes for him to call me back and then I called again. The roofers were just calling him back when I called and so he took their call and called me after speaking with them. The roofers had been given the wrong address and would be there very shortly. The roofers did show up in the next 20 minutes but we still had no shingles or dumpster so the roofers told me they couldn’t do anything and may not be able to start today because they didn’t have a dumpster or shingles. They called Terry to let him know they had no dumpster or shingles and he decided to come out. When he arrived (25 minutes later) we voiced our frustration in the poor communication that had been happening and that we just wanted our roof to get done as winter is approaching. Terry gave us an explanation that he had ordered the dumpster to arrive today as well as the shingles but had no control over when those things get to the site. He also stated that his guys could have started to set up their tarps and ladders and I stated that is something he needed to speak to his crew about and not us. While we were speaking with Terry the truck with the shingles drove into the driveway. Terry stated that they were going to walk from this job. My husband stated that we had signed a contract and if they were going to honor it he would call our attorney. My husband then asked him if they were going to do the job and Terry said yes. We went into the house and expected the roofers to start getting their ladders and tarps set up. After about 20 minutes we had a knock on the door and Terry told us they were going to walk away from doing our roof. We stated that we had a contract with them but they chose to walk away. We did tell them that we were going to contract an attorney as it was getting so late in the season and we needed to have our roof done. My husband than called the main office and spoke with the owner and told him the whole story and he stated he was going to stand by Terry and that they hadn’t walked from any contract in 9 years and this was the first one. I had picked this company because of the time Terry had spent with us in explaining things. The poor communication and the many excuses is not any way to run a business. We understand when thing happen and a phone call and honesty would have been appreciated and taking responsibility for what had happen instead of making excuses for not having getting back to us or the dumpster or shingles not being here. This roofing company is not reliable. We did receive a follow up letter from the company's owner, approximately 1 week after we were initially told they were not doing our roof. The letter restated that they would not be doing the work on our roof.. After reading the response from the provider, yes we were upset but neither my husband or myself used any profanity when speaking to the foreman. He had decided to walk and that is when my husband made the statement that he would call our attorney to find out what recourse we could have since we had signed a contract with Heartwood Construction.

They did a good job.

I called them back in July, they were pretty busy and said they would have to fit me in sometime in the future. I was good with that since I just wanted it done before winter hits. I had a call about 2 weeks later asking if they could come by and see what needed to be done. They checked out what needed to be done, and said they would be in touch on when the work could be finished. Another 2 weeks or so went by, someone else contacted me and wanted to see the work to be performed. They came by and saw it as well. I'm thinking because my job was so small (maybe an hour of work?), they were trying to fit me in-between jobs, so that would explain why two different people came by asking to see what work had to be done. I was VERY surprised to get a phone call on a Sunday before a holiday asking if they could come by to paint. I was happy they were willing to work on a Sunday to get my little tiny job done. It took them about an hour, if that, to complete the work and it looked good when it was done. Now at least those boards on the roof will not rot away from the weather. :)

Contacted Heartwood Construction to provide a bid for a kitchen remodel project. Met with Lonny within days of contacting them and an estimate was received within a few weeks. We decided to go with another contractor.

They were easy to work with and accommodated any changes in plans. They were calm and friendly. Lonny, the person who gave me the quote, checked in on the project. The two workers, both named Mike, did a great job.

They are very polite. I am a woman doing this all on my own, and they have been really respectful of me. They are attentive to details, and they instill confidence.

The estimate was for $32,000. He was very professional and very friendly. He gave us a lot of information but I was very displeased with the price and I thought they were quite inflated.

Overall, Heartwood did an excellent job. Our ceiling had drywall over plaster and they were able to match the hight of the drywall perfectly and you can't tell where the new drywall meets the old. The staining on the molding is a near perfect match to the other molding in the Kitchen. I was very impressed by the professionalism and courtesy of all the employees who performed the work onsite. Heartwood's performs their estimates so that they will easily match up with State Farm. The entire estimate/approval process with State Farm went very smoothly. I highly recommend Heartwood if you have State Farm and need work done though an insurance claim. I already plan to use Heartwood for future work on the house and I highly recommend them.

They were prompt in coming out for the estimate and they were also high on the bid so I didn't use them.

The only reason I didn't go with them for the front porch is because I didn't have the cash. I wish I went with them. I will never go with anyone else. They are good people. He is a good worker. The staff is great.
