Description of Work: The estimate ($675.00) and the scheduling (for 4/3/13) was provided by John Stephan of Duluth Electrical Contracting. John was very friendly and responsive to questions about details of the job, including who would the mechanical aspects of the job. He provided an estimate that also quoted a price estimate from another firm that would be doing the duct work and venting for the job. The final bill for the job was as quoted: $675.00 which included installation of a ventilation fan that D.E.C. provided in addition to installing the wiring, switch and breaker. The electrician arrived at 7:00 a.m. on 4/3 as scheduled. If my memory serves correctly, his name was Dave. He was very professional, efficient and courteous. The work as performed was excellently done, and he was finished and cleaned up by noon. As it happened, because the quote for the mechanical part of the job was, it seemed to me, quite high, I arranged to have another individual, Neil Welsand, do the venting and duct work for this job on the basis of a recommendation from a friend of mine. Neil's estimate and final bill was a small fraction of the estimate supplied by the mechanical contractor referred to above as provided by John Stephan. I mentioned to Mr. Stephan that I preferred to use Neil what was fine with him. Neil was also available to complete the venting and duct work that same afternoon so that the entire job was completed by 7 p.m. the same evening. What was particularly impressive was Neil's installation of the vent going through the basement's concrete sill. It was a very difficult job having to bore through concrete that, due to its age, was very hard! Clean up by both workers was excellent and everything is functioning fine. We are very pleased with the work of both of these individuals. My wife and I would certainly use them again should we have the need for these kind of services, and we would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone with a job requiring their skills.

Description of Work: upgrade from 100 amp service to 400 amp service, change from overhead wiring to underground wiring to house and outbuildings, wire new geo-thermal service(wiring for new heat pump and supplementary electric heater) and wire for off peak hot water

Description of Work: They took out an old ceiling fan and then assembled and installed a new one that I had purchased at Home Depot. They also hauled away the old one, which was a nice touch.

Description of Work: My husband and I had an electrical problem at our house that was not easy to solve. Our power would go out on the main floor of our house, but only in certain areas. We had Minnesota Power take a look first, but they said the problem was not with them. That meant we had to hire an electrical contractor to find the problem, but we had no idea who. I turned to Angie's List and found the name of Duluth Electrical Contracting, Inc. They had favorable reviews and we decided to give them a try. At the time we called them, we had only partial power to our main floor. They told us they would be out that day, and they were very prompt. The problem was (if you could call it that), was the power came back on before the contractor got to our house. The contractor's name was Ryan and he was super nice. He told us without the power being out like it was before, he had no way of locating the problem. Ryan explained the whole situation to us and he was very professional. We decided that as long as he was there, we may as well have him fix another issue we had with a switch plate upstairs of our house. He fixed it promptly but before he left, he gave his name and phone number to my husband. He told my husband that if the problem returned or we had any other issues, we could call him. Sure enough, a few hours later the problem returned. We called Ryan at the number he gave us and he was back at our house within the hour. It took some detective work by both Ryan and us, but he finally located the problem. Our house is over 100 years old and some of the wiring is difficult to work on. But Ryan took care of it all and explained to us what the problem had been. Ryan was very professional, prompt and courteous. We would certainly use this company again and would recommend them to friends and family.

Description of Work: I had a shorted outdoor electrical outlet. I had engaged another electrical contractor who did a temporary fix and, after promising to return to complete the project, disappeared. Duluth Electrical Contracting completed that project, upgraded other outdoor outlets, installed an outdoor light with an indoor switch, installed several outlets in the living room floor, and installed new thermostats. Overall I was very satisfied with the work and the price.
