Description of Work: I needed several small plumbing repairs made; a water heater that needed to be looked at and either repaired or replaced, low water pressure in parts of my home and some pipes that needed to be brought up to code because the builder did not provide shut off valves under my kitchen sink. The individual who answered the phone refused to answer my questions and instead repeatedly quoted some company line about how all their pricing is up front. First, it's $99 for a service call. I asked if any work would be performed during that visit. In essence I wanted to know if it was $99 just for them to show up. She wouldn't answer that question. She told me all of their pricing is up front "unlike other plumbers." She told me they would not give me a free estimate. I asked her the same question multiple times. I rephrased it a couple of times in case she misunderstood me. She interrupted me multiple times when I was trying to get the information I needed. This was miserable customer service. Absolutely miserable. I got pretty testy towards the end and cancelled my appointment. I need to know a rough estimate of my costs and how much time I will need to be home in order to budget for both my time and money. This person just didn't want to understand that.

They assess the job and provide you with the cost of repairs before any work is completed. I will definitely call them for future service and would highly recommend them to anyone!

Description of Work: Lost all hot water to the house. Obviously there was a problem with the water heater. Plumber came to the home. Informed me and showed me that the water heater tank had failed. He immediately offered me options to replace the header along with pricing. He only applied slight pressure to get me to buy the more expensive model. I chose not to. He then called the warehouse and ensured the needed heater was in stock, drove to the warehouse, and then returned and removed the old heater and installed the new heater. This all took about 2 to 3 hours. I was very satisifed with the work. Home was left clean and dry.

Description of Work: Clean out sexer line and inspect. Took pictures that I found out later could not possibly been done as I called the city to do an inspection and another plumber and they said because of an old trap (since removed) they could not view my sewer line from in the house.

Description of Work: I requested my soil pipe be replaced. The technician cut the pipe at the top of the basement outlet and the bottom of the basement outlet. He replaced it with PVC pipe. Two years later, my plumbing was leaking all over the basement. I called Franklin Plumbing but was told I would need to pay a $95.00 service call since my work was "out of warranty". When I declined the appointment, I was told my service call would be waived if I would certify FP would do the needed work. I had already requested the work be donevtwo years previously . The work was not done to my satisfaction the first time. I needed to replace all of the plumbing from the toilet, bathroom sink, and kitchen sink. Had the cast iron been replaced when I originally requested the work, I would have been satisfied.

Description of Work: Had toilet replace due to toilet bowl having a slow leak. The toilet bowl was slowly draining about 3/4 inch each 2 hours to about a half full bowl. I didn’t notice this until the toilet bowl started empting to about 1/4th of a full bowl by the next morning. I have no pets or dehumidifier running. This left 2 possibilities and partial clog siphoning water or a crack in the toilet.

He then tried to talk me into not just having drain cleared but they wanted to send a camera down and see what the obstruction was. I said Ok until he told me that would be over $450.00

Description of Work: The kitchen sink in my house was leaking water all over the counter. Right before Christmas the problem got much worse - especially when the hot water was on. We are renting the house while the homeowner lives in the Twin Cities, so I am very careful about any repairs. I see those blue Benjamin Franklin trucks driving all around Duluth so I called them first to see if anyone could make it out before the holiday. A plumber came the next day(and I live pretty far from their business), and took care of the problem. The faucet needed a new part and the whole process took less than a couple hours. --I'm pretty sure the plumber's name was Tom. I don't know what most plumbers wear to work but this guy basically looked dressed up, that surprised me.

Description of Work: I called Bejamin Franklin plumbing about a quite costly plumbing problem I am up against. I called them in the beggining of March as I had a flooded bathroom, laundry area and 3 backed up sinks. I called them on a Monday. I got an answering machine. The next Day I called back, I did get a real person and she told me 'she would "try to find a plumber to call me back" NO ONE called BACK that Day. I called the employee back and she said someone" would get back to me by the end of the week". Again not so much as a phone call. I waited till the beginning of the FOLLOWING week. I called the office and got a diffrent woman who said they have no record of me "waiting for a return call, or That I was looking to hire a plumber last week". She would "talk to the owners daughter", I guess tha this is who I spoke with last week. So after 2 more phone calls. The 2nd woman telsl me they can "possibly fit me in-in about 2 weeks" They have a death in the family and have to go out of town. NOW I am wondering is this a one man pony show? Do they NOT have more than one employee? Is ONE employee going on every single call/job? SO, to give them ANOTHER chance, I make an appointment two weeks down the road,which happens to be TODAY. The appointment is between 8-9 a.m. WELL, It is 9:30 a.m. and NO SHOW! NOW this is the very plumbing company that advertises? PROMPT,TIMELY assistance OR it is the customerr THEY PAY! If anyone has seen their advertisement- it is directed at the speed and puncuality performance of their company. WELL about 3 weeks down the road I am still waiting for someone to appear to help me with my plumbing problems. I wonder if they are going to PAY ME for my TIME...I have 3 weeks into this. NOT so much as 1 single phone call from them EVER. I would never CALL THEM IF YOU NEED A PLUMBER IN A HURRY. I WOULDN'T CALL THEM IF YOU NEED A PLUMBER IN 3 MONTHS. I highly reccommend ASP plumbing company in Duluth,MN. They came to my rescue. THEY are GREAT. I have worked now with 3 diff employees. I found them to be not only timely, honest, very experienced,AND fair! I still have not fixed my plumbing problem. I was hoping to get 2 estimates (ASP gave me one after they temporarily fixed my problem) and then have the repairs done by the one that seemed honest and fair, (and in my budget). I will call them (BENJAMIN FRANKLIN PLUMBING) and tell them to forget it. This is a rather large job, I have estimates around 3-4 thousand dollars. Ben Franklin has no idea what my problem is here, they just know that on the first day I called them when my home was flooded with WATER. They could care less about customer service. I really think they have false advertising regarding their PROMPT TIMELY plumbers that are suppose to show up at your door -ON TIME- or they will PAY YOU! I wonder how many weeks I am suppose to wait? I will call them now and tell them to FORGET IT! I will call ASP plumbing, and JUST pay the $3,400.00 they gave me as an estimate. Tim and Dusty from ASP are GREAT! A father and SON team. VERY personable, explain things clearly, and their are more than FAIR when it comes to PRICE! BOTH times they came in UNDER the estimate they thought it would cost to do my temporary repairs. CALL them YOU WILL NOT be SORRY!
