He was very personable but professional. He responded in a timely fashion to my request for service and called me when he was 15 minutes out so I knew when he would be here. He checked all the outlets I had concerns about and let me know what he was finding as he went along. I didn't have problems but he tightened everything up and checked it all so I have peace of mind. He also took down the light in the bathroom and checked all the connections. Working better after he finished. He made it comfortable to ask questions and got the work done quickly. I would highly recommend him.

Tom did great work and the city inspector had absolutely no issues. Having had such a good experience, we soon-after had an issue with an outlet inside our house and called him about it. Rather than just coming out and charging a large trip charge, he first suggested some items I could check myself but, when I was unable to find the source of the outage, he came over. He was able to find and correct the issue quickly and, since it was such a short trip, he gave us a very good deal on the charges. Interestingly enough, the first time Tom was supposed to come over, he got delayed because of an emergency call he had taken early that morning from one of his regular customers. He called and mentioned that he would be late and then, due to bad traffic and my need to get to work, asked to re-schedule. He seemed very sincere on the phone and was willing to come over on a Saturday (which worked much better from my schedule) so we decided to stay with him. We are so glad that we did. He is one of the best service providers we have ever worked with. We heartily recommend him.

Installed a couple of additional electrical outlets in our basement. Did an estimate for us over the phone and also stopped by and looked at what needed to be done. Answered all questions on the spot and picked up the phone and answered additional questions we had when we called back. Bid was reasonable. We were worked into the schedule within a day or two. Very professional and knowledgable. Would absolutely recommend and use again.

I cannot say enough about Tom's work. He quickly identified and fixed the outages for an extremely reasonable fee. We then discussed the other work I needed, Tom quoted me an estimate, arrived exactly on time for the next appointment, and quickly and efficiently did the additional work. I have had no problems since, and the rewired microwave has worked flawlessly for the first time in 15 years without tripping our circuit breaker while other appliances are running. I would call him again in a heartbeat.

Tom is awesome. I give him an A++. I chose him because he was located close by and I was only taking one day off to get the disposal fixed. The plumber said it was an electrical problem so I called Tom hoping he would come some time that day. He was booked out for the day but said he could get over to my house first thing the next day before I had to leave. He did come on time, he fixed it, he was very friendly, explained what was wrong, and got it done before I had to leave. He has the best attitude. He needs to train others in the service industry. I was so relieved. I highly recommend him and will use him again for any electrical problems I have in the future.

In 2011, I had a good experience with Tom in putting light fixtures in my kitchen so I called him to discuss the cracked doorbell button that was not working and the outlet plate that was not working. We set up an appointment that would work best for the both of us. Tom got busy right away on fixing the two items. My doorbell rings, the plate goes from test to reset, the job was done in a timely manner and as always, Tom was pleasant to work with.

Tom was great! He gave me a quote over the phone for what I told him needed to be done. He also worked with my schedule and came over on a Saturday to do the work. He got everything done in about 1 hour and answered all my questions. He also saw another issue that could have been dangerous and fixed it for no additional charge. Tom definately knows his stuff!

Tom is a very nice person and does good work. I trusted him in my home and respect the level of experience he has. I had hoped to have the work done in a day and a 1/2, however his schedule seemed to be pretty tight and I was not aware that he would have to cut the first day very short. We had another "hiccup" in his schedule on his second visit that I was not very satisfied with, but we were able to work it out. He finished up the work on his 3rd visit.

Tom was very professional and everything is as it should be. He was so scrupulous in doing our bill that he wanted me to know he had needed to take a call while he was there but didn't charge me for that time.

Tom was awesome! He came out quickly to change a light fixture as I prepared for company. He was fast and efficient (and friendly). He surprised me by having time to also remove a chandelier so I could stop hitting my head on it. He will return at a later date to do a few more things (and not charge me for the first half hour since the 2 projects he completed took less than an hour). Will call him as soon as it cools outside!

Tom was amazing! From the first call, to getting the work done, to his follow up, Tom was great. This was my first experience with someone on Angie's List, and boy did Tom put me at ease. He got me into his schedule quickly, and was punctual for the service call. The first date Tom arrived, I had already solved a couple of the issues Tom & I had discussed on my own, but had come up with some new projects (first time homeowner, so I wasn't sure what I could do on my own). It was no problem for Tom, he and I scheduled a date a few days later, as the new projects would take a bit longer. Again, Tom was punctual and ready to go upon arriving. The projects took just over an hour (Tom only charged me for the hour); Tom was pleasant the whole time he was at my house, chatting with me while he worked. He explained to me what he was doing, and allowed me to ask open-ended questions about future projects. Billing was simple, and straight forward. I am working on a new project now, and will be calling Tom later this week to book him for this too.

Tom was very responsive and called back to schedule the work in a timely fashion. He was very personable and we chatted throughout the work, but he worked steadily and got the work done quickly. I was very impressed that he used a level to install an outlet. I have always found electricians lax about leveling off their work! He was neat and tidy and very helpful. I will definately use him again!

Tom was able to meet me on short notice at a porperty that needed an electrical panel inspection. He was prompt, courteous and a pleasure to work with.

He quickly diagnosed the problems and gave suggestions on whether these old fixtures were worth repairing, even calling around for a particular unusual part for the most troublesome of the two problems. When he found the part for a very reasonable price, he urged me to fix the fixture rather than getting a new one and that was the right decision for us at this time. He drove out to get the part, installed it and then diagnosed the other problem promptly and expertly, again giving us a good suggestion -- this time to replace the fixture ourselves. He is personable, prompt and responsive, clean, nice and also very professional and I believe his years of experience make him one of the best deals around. I'm delighted to have found our new electrician!

Tom came out the same day and spent and hour tracing out the problem. It turns out an outside outlet was the problem! He replaced both our outside outlets with newer, up to [new] code outlets. This was a job excellently done! I will definitely use this contractor again!

Although quite busy, Tom was able to fit me into his schedule in less than a week. He kept me well informed by text and cell, regarding a couple of small schedule changes. This was not a problem...knowing ahead of time is what's most important to me. When Tom arrived at my home, he immediately removed his shoes. He was also considerate in entering and exiting the porch from the outside, to avoid tracking any dirt into the house. I had to leave for a medical appointment. I was totally comfortable leaving a project list with him, which we briefly discussed . When I returned in 90 minutes, he was already completing the list! We had a quick walkthrough to review all items, and test all outlets on GFI circuits. He also spent a few minutes ballparking/estimating a few possible future projects I was considering, plus providing a more detailed explanation when I asked some followup questions. All-in-all, another great experience...This is the second time I have used Tom's services. He's friendly, efficient, and reasonably priced, as well. I plan to use Tom for future electrical projects...Definitely, a pleasurable, no-hassle experience! (I should mention that I had already picked up the porch light and smoke detectors...So, the price I paid did not include any fixtures).

Tom Mertz is a professional with high customer and problem-solving orientation. He was knowledgeable, efficient and prompt. When changes to the plan were requested he responded courteously and creatively. When some new materials were required, he found a way to get them through his network of contacts and had them delivered to our house fast enough so the workflow was never interrupted. It was a very good experience all around working with a highly skilled pro like Tom, and we plan to use him again whenever we need any electrical services at our home.

Called Tom to schedule appointment to look at fan that failed....he was scheduled for jury duty and told us he would call as available which he did. He was able to stop by one day, remove the switch, and return the next day as promised to replace the switch. Ceiling Fan working. Excellent Job.
