Tom was able to fish in 4 white baffle round recess lights in the family room/dinette area. By following the wires of the kitchen counter recess lighting he found the box that would allow him to run the electrical lines in the ceiling area of the dining room. He marked 4 areas to cut out to fish the electrical line through to the box and installed the fixtures. He also put in two dimmer switches. This all happened in a short amount of time. He fixed my lighting problem and I couldn't be happier.

Tom is very professional and patient. We need to install two new recessed lights in the ceiling of our family room. In his visit, he listened to our needs and gave his professional suggestions. He then provided a written quote in an email with very reasonable price. We then made an appointment for one week later. He arrived on time and finished the installation beautifully in about two hours. The job was impeccable. He even helped replaced the trim of two existing light and repaired two old light switched but charged nothing. He has our highest recommendation.

Very prompt on returning our initial phone call, and scheduling of the estimate. Amount of estimate was reasonable. Work scheduled about 2 weeks out. On date work was to be done, he called and requested a reschedule, due to forecast of very hot weather, so rescheduled to following week. On that day, he called and rescheduled again due to being double booked for that day. Still waiting for work to be completed.....

He has been my go to electrician for 10 years. I live in Plymouth and he has done work on both of my homes. He has done electrical or lighting work for me. I bought the light fixture and he installed it. What I really like about Tom is that he is reasonable as far as his cost and how he deals with people. When he evaluated the system, I had bought the wrong bulbs so he purchased the correct light bulbs and billed me for them. He was accommodating. He went the extra mile. He did not say that he could not do it. I will continue to use him.

Tom did an excellent job tracking down the source of the problem I was experiencing and promptly repaired it in a very thorough, cost effective manner. Tom is very honest and extremely experienced (30+ years) and I plan on using him for all of my electrical needs moving forward and would higly recommend him to anyone in need of an electrician.

We hired Tom Mertz based on his solid reviews on Angie's List. For our project, Tom removed old electrical fixtures and replaced them with new fixtures. He did excellent work at a very fair price, and was very easy to work with. We'd definitely hire Tom again for future projects.

Tom was right on time.He brought the parts with him, so it could all be done during the same service call. He was so friendly and professional. I absolutely would recommend him to anyone. And have already put his name in our rolodex as "Our Electrician"!

Our kitchen, foyer, basement, garage and outside lighting were not working properly. I was afraid we were having a bad electrical circuity in those sections of our home. I called Tom and he promptly pick up our call scheduling us for the next day. He showed up on time and checked what was wrong. I really appreciate his professionalism, knowledge of his work and specially his honesty. He is very meticulous on what he does and clean up all messes in the process. We left a message on the voicemail and it took a couple of days for a response and Tom apologized for the late response. An initial quote was provided over the phone and we agreed to have Tom install the ceiling fan.

I scouted for an electrician on Angie's List. Selected Tom Mertz Electric, Inc. based on all his favorable Angie's list reviews. I also liked the fact that his address was nearby. (I like to shop local if I can) He came over the same day I called him. We had 2 outlets in the dining room that were dead. He found and fixed the problem very efficiently. He installed an additional outlet in the basement utility room for our water softener. He also check out a ceiling light fixture that we wanted to make sure was safe. lastly, he checked to see that all of our kitchen outlets within 6 feet of the kitchen sink were hooked up to the GFCI. We highly recommend Tom. It isn't every day that you find a contractor that is honest and does great work

I own a home but I am renting it out. The renters told me how the electricity in one bedroom gets cut totally at certain times, so I checked Angie's List and had them call Tom Mertz to set up an appointment. The renters told me that Tom canceled twice on them, then came out on the third try. [However, when I spoke with Tom I found out this was not totally accurate. Tom made every attempt to meet the renter's schedule which meant weekday appointments at 5:30 pm; she canceled on him once and Tom did have a family emergency the second time.] Tom did offer to the renters that he would give a discount for the inconvenience but when I got the bill I could not tell - one line item at $175 was listed. [After speaking with Tom, he admitted his line item description was cryptic and did not separate labor from parts; the discount he gave was to give me the breaker at cost. I was satisfied with this explanation.] The work was finally performed Nov 17, 2012 but I did not receive a bill until about January 7, 2013 (invoice dated 12/31/2012). My time is valuable and I value professionalism and punctuality; he failed me on face value and this messed up my accounting records as a rental property owner, I wanted to write the check in 2012 not 2013. Initially I was not happy. [I spoke with Tom and he was actually holding off on billing for this work until he got word from the renters that everything was working to their satisfaction. However, the renters did not know to give him an update - miscommunication.] As the property owner I was out of the loop on his communications with the renters. I told Tom this was unacceptable to me and that I should have been kept abreast of what was going on. I suggested his invoice contain more information and separate parts from labor. He agreed and made every attempt to make me satisfied and correct this omission. Initially I was upset but it turned out to be hearsay because as a property owner but not living in the house I did not get information first hand. Tom turned around my initial unhappiness and I am satisfied he is professional and trustworthy. My overall experience is now Excellent after speaking with Tom but it was lukewarm initially; Part of the responsibility rests with me for not asking direct questions of him since I never interacted with him on the job, the renters did. He will communicate with me directly from now on and yes I will use his services again. I actually prefer using the services of a one-person electrician business versus a company because I deal directly with the owner and the person performing the work.

Tom was great! He's very professional, personable and courteous, and it's clear that Tom has a passion for his work. He works quickly and does a tidy job. He installed two chandeliers (which look sharp) and looked at my bathroom outlets to answer a question I had. He also recommended dimmer switches for the two chandeliers, which is something he's done in his own home. I hadn't even thought of that! Smart recommendation and he happened to have the light switches, so I asked if he could install those as part of my 'work order.' Tom's services are reasonably priced, and I would definitely call him again for electrical work.

Tom Mertz came out and took car of a couple of things I have been meaning to address: additional outlet on a stair landing for a night light, an additional outlet in the garage for an overhead hanging fixture, along with a switch to turn on the light and the installation of a new fixture in a basement workshop. Tom was very personable, very professional, very neat and I will definitely use him again!

Tom put in a new ceiling lighting source for a dining room (there was not a current power source). Tom did a fantastic job! He was prompt, courteous, informative and above-all did a high quality work. He recemmended an excellent dry wall/painter for the spot where the new electrical panel was put in. He also called the next day to make sure we were satisfied with the job. Highly recommend!
