He came to look at the basement. He clearly communicated the work. He gave an estimate. He did the work. We paid him. The basement looks great.

Tom stayed for about an hour, hoping that he would be able to hear what I had called him out for. After checking out the electrical box, he fixed several items that I had needed repair on for years, while waiting to hear the buzzing from the box. He fixed a 3 way switch that a family member had improperly wired, replaced some other older switches and plates, and installed a new door chime that I had purchased but never got around to installing myself. He made great use of his time, and readily had needed supplies on hand. I have not heard the buzz from the electrical box since he was at the house, so perhaps he got it fixed unknowingly while going over the box. He called me at work first thing the following morning to check and see if it was still causing us trouble or not. I would HIGHLY recommend Tom.

Upon flipping the light switch in our home office, I was surprised by what sounded like the lightbulbs exploding! I called Mr. Mertz, who came out promptly, and advised me that the light fixture had been installed incorrectly and needed to be replaced. He offered to replace the light temporarily so it was safe and came back after I had time to find a new fixture that I liked. After I bought a new fixture he came back the next day to install it. The job involved climbing into the attic and no little degree of technical skill when he discovered that there wasn't adequate room for the electrical box. But he was able to solve the problem. Mr. Mertz also repaired basement electrical sockets. He did a terrific job, worked around my schedule, made me feel like my repairs were very important to him, was professional, courteous and very reasonable--especially given that he had to make two trips! Tom Mertz was fantastic. He came out on a Saturday morning within an hour of our call, identified why we kept losing electrical power and attempted to get a replacement part for us. When the part was unavailable on the weekend, he hooked up a temporary solution so we had power until he could get it. Tom is knowledgeable, professional, reliable and just an all around nice guy. His charges were very reasonable, especially considering he came out on the weekend. Fantastic experience!

After a nasty windstorm we came home to find a tree branch had hit the electrical line running from the pole to the house. The line was on the ground and had pulled the service mast off of the house as well, but power was still on in the house. Xcel informed us it was our problem, not theirs, since power was not interrupted. A friend gave us Tom's name. Originally it didn't appear to be an emergency, so Tom did not come out for a couple days, but once on site he noticed a potential short in the wire still on the ground. He immediately called Xcel to have the power shut off, and worked the weekend making sure the line was reinstalled. He told us that the code had changed since our electrical service was first installed (of course) and informed us about new placement of the service mast according to the current code. The new placement required cutting a hole in the eaves, it was neatly done and the incoming line is no longer at pi ata-swatting height, much safer!

Great experience. Tom returned my call promptly and changed out the lights within one week of my call. This was a very small job for him but he treated it as though it was just as important as any of the big jobs he does. He got to it and completed the job on a hot humid day with a smile.

An entire room at my home had lost power as the result of an accident. Mr. Mertz identified the source of a short, repaired the faulty wiring, checked the power source, and reset the GFI.

Went great. Tom showed up on time, fixed the problem immediately and his charges were reasonable.

Tom returned my call promptly, even trying to help me fix it myself with a few suggestions over the phone. When that did not solve the problem, he promptly scheduled an appointment to come out, was on time, fixed the problem, was very courteous, and charged a fair price.

TOM MERTZ WAS VERY EFFICIENT AND NOT INTRUSIVE. HE SOLVED THE PROBLEMS QUICKLY. I WOULD BE HAPPY TO USE HIM AGAIN.

I CALLED ON SUNDAY NIGHT, AND TOM COMPLETED THE WORK ON MONDAY MORNING. TOM WAS FRIENDLY AND REASONABLE.
