+ 0 moreTom was prompt and professional. He did the whole laundry list of work in a short amount of time and it was all done to my expectations. The only item he did not complete was the new circuit which he did not charge me for. The reason being that it would not have helped solve my real problem. I appreciated his honesty and he earned my trust. Tom will be my go-to electrician in the future.
Description of Work: Tom estimated and completed work on installed 5 (2 replacing existing and 3 new) light fixtures and troubleshooting a short issue. I also asked him to install a new circuit to our kitchen to distribute load.

Description of Work: I called Tom and asked him what he'd charge for a cable outlet and an electrical outlet put in a spare room for a TV mounted on the wall. he quoted $175.00 for the cable outlet and additional electrical outlet and then I asked about 2-4 outlet receptacles outside for lighting purposes and he quoted 100.00 each. There was a discount off the trip because of Angie's List and I inquired where the discount fit in and he said it was off the service call charge, yet built into the final total, which kind of confused me how the breakdown went. A couple weeks later, we set a date for him to come out and give us an estimate. We weren't in a rush,so when he could be in our area he could call and set a date and time. We talked again and the following week I wrote down 10:30 on I think a Wednesday. He didn't show at the time we discussed,so I called him and he said he would be there some time AFTER 10:30. I didn't know who was correct and it didn't make that much of a difference (and I usually give the benefit of the doubt to someone that hasn't yet given me reason to question) so he showed not long after that and quoted the same pricing. We set a time for about two weeks out and tom had to attend a funeral on our appointment day (Friday),so we rescheduled for the following Tues. Tom called each time 20-30 minutes before arriving, which I appreciated and he was knowledgeable, efficient and got the job done with no problems. We only had the cable outlet and the electrical outlet put in. We decided to wait for another time for the outside receptacles. I probably would've asked for a better breakdown as to where the discount fit in and I never received an estimate in writing, although I wrote down amounts talked about and this was never an issue and I wasn't offered a bill of sale.

+ 1 moreWe had several electrical things on a to-do list for the last 4 years, but put them off after getting several quotes and disinterested attitudes from other electrical companies. Our house was built in 1941, so we had been told in the past that some of the things we wanted to do would be difficult and/or costly given the age and/or because our house is 1 1/2 stories. After meeting with Tom and receiving his quote, we felt reassured that we had found the right person to help us! His pricing is fair, he does great work and he is just the nicest person. We paid what we were quoted. He was also able to come back and do a few additional things we thought of after the initial estimate. He offered suggestions while listening to our needs. And he cleaned up afterwords. We highly recommend him and would hire him again.
Description of Work: Here's a list of things he worked on for us: replacing old basement ceiling lights, moving a bathroom switch to a different wall, adding an outdoor plug-in on the house (especially for Christmas lights), splitting the front-of-house exterior light from the interior light (and putting them on separate switches), installing a new fixture and replacing the pull string with a switch, and adding an additional plug-in for a freezer.

+ 1 moreEverything was great. I knew once Tom left after giving the estimate that he was the one to get my business. Very personable and easy to work with. He explained how to do things as he went giving me the confidence to tackle some of the more simpler projects on my own. The job took two days, but on the first day it was only around 6 hours and the second day was only about 3 1/2 - both times fitting into my schedule. He was punctual and very professional. He charged me what he estimated even though I added a couple more minor projects because he was able to fit it into his time allotment given for the job.
Description of Work: Tom installed several light switches and outlets, a lighting fixture in our front hallway, 3 florescent fixtures in 3 bedroom closets, a ceiling fan in the master bedroom - exchanging the one currently installed, installed electrical box and light fixture in 2nd bath, completely installed a ceiling fan/light fixture in our family room where no fixture existed and replaced the GFI receptacle in the fuse box.

He had to come back to finish up because one of our fixtures was broken, but that was not a problem. He did very good work and we are now confident in the wiring in our house.
Description of Work: We needed to have our box switched from fuses to circuit breakers. We also had Tom add outlets to our basement, replace 3 light fixtures and repair 2 fixtures.

When he came to do the work, he was again very prompt, did the work as discussed and cleaned up after himself. I would definitely use Tom again for any of my electrical needs.
Description of Work: Tom installed a replacement bathroom fan for us; he needed to cut a larger hole in the ceiling and install new fan. He also re-did the switches for our basement lighting. We had 4 fluorescent lights all on one switch and he put them on separate switches for us and also installed a stairwell light.

When I scheduled the work, Tom called at the time he was due to arrive and said that he was running about 10 minutes late, which I appreciated. He then placed plastic sheeting on the floors of the work areas and got to work. He was careful to ask me my opinion on a couple matters while he was working, and he completely cleaned up after himself when he was finished. My new outlets look very professional. I would definitely use Tom again for any electrical needs I might have in the future.
Description of Work: Tom installed electrical outlets in my hallway and in my bathroom. He wired my bathroom ceiling so that my husband can install a ceiling fan.

He told me his prices and his schedule when we talked by phone. He arrived promptly on the day we agreed on, and he worked very efficiently and quickly. He carried all he needed to do the job in his pickup. He took his time inspecting the main panel and explained what needed to be changed before he did the work. We are putting this house on the market to sell and wanted to make sure it's in "move-in" condition. Tom understood our objective and worked within that context.
Description of Work: Replaced a GFI outlet and a light socket, fixed a light switch, pulled a "dead" wire from the basement ceiling, and inspected the main panel and fixed three items there not up to code.

Description of Work: Tom installed a new electrical socket in the floor of our living room. Our furniture placement meant that we needed a new plug installed in the floor. Tom recommended and used only the best quality (and safest) brass electrical fixture. He was immediately aware that there were other fixtures that had been on the market but were recalled because of safety hazards.

He fixed the wiring, which was grounding out and determined the A/C relay was an additional issue and suggested we call the cable company since he didn't have a relay readily available. He offered to come back with a relay if there was a problem with getting the cable company scheduled and called after a couple of days to make sure everything had worked out OK.

It did take an additional phone call to remind Tom to send the estimate. In my job I work with contractors of all types constantly and he is one of the best ones I have ever dealt with and I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone needing electrical work. In fact, he will be coming out to complete some additional work for us in the near future.
Description of Work: Tom replaced 2 bath fan motors, grills, installed 6 baffle trims in kitchen, added 3 pendant lights over kitchen peninsula controlled by a new dimmer and installed a new laundry fixture. We supplied the light fixtures. He gave us a verbal quote before he did work and even though the actual job took longer than his verbal quote was based on, he charged us based on his original verbal quote.

+ -1 moreTom checked the electrical outlets on the circuit in a methodical and focused manner. He actually found the problem outside the house (last place I expected). A rodent must have chewed through a line we had running to an old light outside the house. He fixed the problem in a few minutes and we were able to reset the circuit breaker. I do not think we would ever have found the problem with Tom's help--we would never have guessed the problem was outside the house. Tom has a quiet professional manner about him. It was a pleasure to work with him.
Description of Work: We had an electrical short we could not resolve. The circuit breaker would not reset. The garage door opener did not work and some of the lights in the house were out. Tom found the short and fixed the problem.
