PROFESSIONAL DRAIN SERVICES

I was referred to PDS by another company that I had called first - 1st company did not do main line cleanout. PDS answered my call on an early Saturday afternoon and was courteous & friendly. They said they had a person working that day and that he had 1 customer before me and that he would call me between 5 and 7 once he finished the previous job. I waited until 7, and after not hearing from anyone I called them back - was told they were running behind at the previous job but would be there. At approx. 7:30 he called and said he would be at my home in approx. 20 minutes. He showed up as promised and went to work. He was professional, friendly, and helpful. The machine he used had rubber wheels that made some black marks on the light carpeting going downstairs to the basement, but I think they can be removed pretty easily. Otherwise it went very well - he was pretty neat and careful and took some time to explain a few things to me and what he thought was the problem. Their fee covered up to 1 hour of work and up to 100 ft of cleanout - anything more would be additional charge. We live on a small lot and I don't think we're any more than 75 ft from the curb, so we did not have to pay additional. He went the full 100ft to make sure everything got cleaned out and was done in maybe 45 minutes. The cost was a bit higher than I expected, but since the backup occurred on the weekend we had to pay the weekend rate, which was understandable. Overall it went better than I expected and I was pleased with the job they did.

Things went from bad to worse. The first guy got the snake caught and spent 2 hours undoing it. They spent the next hours again to finally snake the line. There was a somewhat unusual valve that they had to deal with but left the whole thing broken with a piece of cardboard on it when done and never said that it needed fixing. It was a total mess. Then it backed up again. When they came, they couldn't find a problem and wanted to charge us for the visit (homeowners where not home at the time), even though it was under warranty. Then the line backed up again, and they refused to come out unless we paid before hand, even though it was under their warranty. They were very rude and unprofessional all around from start to finish. They had poor communication. They just wanted to get it over with and get out.

NOTICED A SMALL PUDDLE NEAR THE DRAIN RIGHT AFTER THE WORK, ASSUMED IT WAS THE RESULT OF THE WORK. WHAT WE DIDN'T NOTICE WAS THAT THE DRAIN CONTINUED TO HAVE A SMALL LEAK THAT RAN UNDER THE PLASTIC BARRIER UNDER THE HARDWOOD FLOORS IN OUR BASEMENT. WHEN WE CONTACTED THE COMPANY, WE WERE NOT SEEKING ANY DAMAGES THOUGH THE HARDWOOD FLOORS WILL NEED REPLACING AND WE WERE WILLING TO PAY TO HAVE THEM COME AGAIN, BECAUSE WE HAD NOT NOTICED THE LEAK. BUT WE DID ASK THEM TO MAKE A PRIORITY OF FIXING THIS JOB BEFORE MORE DAMAGE WAS DONE. THE COMPANY STATED THAT THEY WERE BUSY AND WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO COME UNTIL LATER THE NEXT WEEK. I ASKED IF THEY COULDN'T FIT US IN SOONER TO FIX A PROBLEM THEY HAD CREATED AND THEY SAID NO. THEY SPENT A GREAT DEAL OF TIME TRYING TO PROVE WE HADN'T ACTUALLY USED THEIR COMPANY, EVEN THOUGH WE HAVE A CASHED CHECK WRITTEN TO THEM.

APPOINTMENT WAS BETWEEN 1-3PM. THEY CAME AFTER 3 AND SAID THEY DIDNT HAVE TIME TO DO THE JOB. I STAYED HOME ALL DAY.
