Precision Decks

Precision Decks was responsive, professional and easy to work with throughout the whole process. Lyndsay was a huge help with design, especially as we had a unique situation that required an unusual design and special approval from the city. She held my hand the whole way, worked with the city and creatively helped solve issues. Bob was great to work with in general, and a big help in assisting in material and color choices. Chris and his crew built a beautiful, rock-solid deck in record time and were friendly and fun. I would strongly recommend Precision Decks to anyone looking to build a quality deck! I was never disappointed at any step of the process.

I had an outstanding experience with Precision Decks. I met with them during the winter to discuss removing two small decks and replacing them with one larger deck that wrapped around the back of my house in somewhat of an L-shape. I am rather particular about aesthetics and construction quality, and I was impressed when I talked to Nick, who designs their decks, about options. He discouraged me from doing things that would have been expensive but of uncertain value in my application (such as adding a pergola), or that detracted from looks or function of the deck. He was very objective and knowledgeable about alternative building materials and their tradeoffs. I ultimately chose to use Ipe rather than a composite material. It’s a very expensive wood that is extremely durable and hard, but consequently difficult to work with, but it is beautiful and does not retain heat like composites. Nick met with me a few times to figure out the design. He was extremely patient and has an excellent sense of design. He gave excellent information, made great suggestions, and did not pressure me to build a deck or hire them but instead inspired confidence that made me certain that I wanted to hire Precision Decks. The quality of their work is unsurpassed. The lead carpenter on my project, Kevin, is a true craftsman. The structure under the deck is more substantial and well-built than many houses. It is “overbuilt,” meaning that the joists and the beams seem closer together than is typical, giving the deck a rock-solid foundation. I wanted a somewhat complex design, using diagonal decking that changed direction a couple of times, and a set of stairs that was recessed into the deck. I also “sealed off” the area under the deck with screen and Trex lattice. It was built with extraordinary attention to detail and care. Everyone who sees my deck is truly impressed. Whereas they are not inexpensive, they are a very good value. If you are predominantly concerned about cost, they may not be the company for you. However, if you are more concerned about the quality of the work for the dollars you invest, I would not hesitate to hire them. If I were to build another deck, I would not even consider another company.

My old deck was ruined from the faulty organic roofing on the house. Had few bids and yes Precision Decks were higher on their bid, but after serveral discussus from the sales person, I was sold on what the outcome would be. When I got contacted by the project manager (Matt) also co-owner with all the details of the project, I was happen from start to finish. Everytime I am in contact with Matt, he explains when the guys will be there and what they might be waiting for and after the job was completed, I counld not have been any happier of the outcome, courtsey, professionalism of the crew and the follow-ups. For example, some of my deck lights went out recently, I contacted Matt who help me through the claim process with the manufacturer and they came back to replace. He then followed up a few days later to see if I was happy with the outcome and if anything else. Matt and all the crew who made my deck what it is now, thank you as we use it year round. With that said, I would definitely recommend anyone who wants a new or replace their deck, to contact Matt and team. You know they will take good care of you. Buba - In Plymouth, MN

I had several estimates and I must admit that Precision Deck was a bit higher than the others. The quality and detail of the estimate far exceeded the other estimates which impressed me. My job had some complexity to it (1895 brick Victorian with an over hanging roof supported by the deck). I was pleasantly surprised when I got the call and they were able to start on my job earlier than scheduled. Overall the job went extremely smooth. Communication with the project manager was easy and I was getting frequent calls and updates. I went with the pvc decking material and am glad that I did. The installing team was onsite everyday on a regular schedule and always happy to answer my questions and give me updates on progress. The quality of the construction is unbelievable. It is rock solid even impressing my neighbors who are in the construction business. I'm so happy with my new deck and the job that Precision Deck did for me. A bit more expensive but worth every penny. I'm confident that my deck will out last me and provide me with many years of enjoyment. I would highly recommend Precision Deck!

They were able to begin days earlier than scheduled. The workers were all great, easy to deal with, answered all my questions, and overall did a neat and complete job. They removed 2 sets of footings (original and ones installed 7 years ago) and installed their new footings and replaced the posts. The deck is not completely level because it had been raised for too long. They did a great job and I could not ask for a better experience. My concern was that so late in the season I would not find someone who could take on the project. My only problems I had was that the railing ordered was the wrong color but that was caught before any delays occurred, the estimate did not include any idea on the cost of the labor so that was sticker shock (thus the B for Pricing above). They should give some ballpark range and state it is an estimate but that would allow people to plan their budget. There was also some miscommunication in railing cost but that was easily cleared up and my air conditioner is not level this spring and this is the first time this has happened and it is close to a post. I had Matt out, he did not think that the post area disturbance cause the heaving ( I disagreed) but he graciously agreed to fix the problem if after the thaw it was still there. It is still there but I have additional work to be done in that area (landscaping) and will probably address it then with those workers. Overall, I would hire Precision Decks again in a heartbeat.. Not so D.S.Bahr.contstruction.

They were the ones who recommended that I rebuild everything, but I did not go with their advice after another service provider came out. They were very friendly and timely. I felt as though that they perhaps were trying to strongly push towards rebuilding when it was not necessary and then when it was necessary to stabilize the post from the other construction company’s point-of-view, they exaggerated what needed to be done in order to push towards rebuilding. I would not necessarily entirely trust the assessment because it was more towards rebuilding which is more beneficial to them as a company. If one definitely want to rebuild and you know that or want to construct, they have received a high rating that is why I contacted them, but if one just simply want to remodel, I would not necessarily go with them because they would try to scale more towards rebuilding. He was punctual when he came out initially.

The craftsmanship was outstanding. The lead carpenter was very good. They kept me up-to-date on the progress and what was pending because we had some issues that were out of their control. They were just very good at communicating. They did a timely project and the quality of the work was outstanding. We took a more expensive option but they were competitive within that option. They were very responsive. They had several projects going on but they were here. The lead carpenter was outstanding in the way that he designed things and it was good.

Precision Decks did an outstanding job replacing our old deck with a beautiful new cedar one. Each person that worked on the project was professional, attentive to our needs and pleasant to deal with from Nick the estimator and Matt our job supervisor to Brandt who worked on site. Special thanks to Matt who twice allowed me to reschedule the project start date to accommodate the birds nesting under our old deck. I highly recommend Precision Decks and would definitely use them again.

Once they removed the old deck, they brought in the materials and had the new one completed in just over a week. Everyone who worked at our home was polite and cleaned up after each day. They were helpful in showing us what was being done and what improvements needed to provided the best deck possible.

Price was spot on with the quote. Excellent job. Matt came by every day to check the progress. We are very happy.

Professional initial presentation by Nick, top notch skills by Bill and crew, great communication from project manager Matt. I cannot say enough about the work these guys performed while our project was under construction. I stress how important the communication was as there were some unforeseen delays due to circumstances beyond anyone's control. What could have been frustrating wasn't due to the excellent communication. Our deck and porch look fantastic.

From beginning to end, the entire project proceeded flawlessly. After our first meeting with them, it was obvious that we would give them the job. The quote was higher than we had planned, but we were not shopping for a bargain, We were looking for a supplier who would give us the best product and service for our money. The project took 5 days to complete (including a 12-hour and 13-hour day). They arrived on time every day (I could set my watch by them). They demonstrated an attention to detail every day and at the end of each day they picked up the job site so you would barely know they had been there. Communication was exceptional during the entire construction process. We were thrilled with the completed deck. Obviously we would highly recommend them.

They were wonderful! Very personal and professional. Also, very fast to provide an estimate. What made our decision very easy to go with another company was the cost. It was litterally double that of many other estimates we had received. Of course, I'm sure there were reasons - perhaps cheapter material in the other estimates or things not included in the other estimates that were included in what we received. But who has the time to "dicker" and try to figure out the differences; certainly not us unfortunately. Great group if money is no object!

All interactions with Precision Decks were professional and pleasant. From Nick our designer, to Matt our project manager, to all the other men who worked on our porch.They worked quickly and were tidy and respectful of our property. I highly recommend Precision Decks. They gave me confidence in them the whole way through the project.

I was totally supported throughout the process from beginning to end and met with the Design Manager, Nick, multiple times to create the right deck for my needs and space. There was a holdup with the permitting from the City and the Precision Decks Team went to meet with the City on my behalf to resolve the issue. The project work was completed fast, cleanly, and safely and I was always in contact with the project Manager, Matt, who readily answered all of my questions. The cost was a little higher that what I had hoped, but I knew that I wanted a top notch design and needed help with this, as well as the quality of construction. You get what you pay for and I am very very pleased with the results and the working relationship.

After a long wet Spring our 1st meeting with Nick from Precision Decks was on May 29th. We were not sure what materials would fit into our budget, so we asked for a detailed breakdown of the cost of various materials. We asked this of all of the contractors we interviewed, but Precision Deck was the only contractor that provided this breakdown. Our 2nd meeting with Nick he provided the breakdown of material cost, a large sample of the low-maintenance railing system we were interested in, as well as blue print of what the final flooring would look like with cedar boards. Our decision on what we wanted so much easier, and we had every confidence that this was the right contractor. We were hoping to start the project in August, but ran into problems with getting the city permit since the original porch footprint was 7" into the property easement. Precision Decks hired the survey crew to mark the property lines. We then met with the city and both owners Matt and Bob were by my side which was a huge relief for me since I have never had to do something like this. The city granted our permit and we were only delayed a couple of weeks. Everyone that I met on the crew was wonderful. They paid great attention to every little detail from tearing out the old boards and cement footings (that were originally installed upside down), to constructing all of the new cedar floors, cedar lattice, and Timbertech rails and post covers. We were happy not to have to deal with a dumpster in our driveway for several weeks as well. All materials were installed or removed within a matter of a few days. If you want to hire an excellent contractor with an awesome crew these are the guys for you. I can't say enough good things about this company. If I had to wait awhile to get on their schedule I can tell you they are definitely worth the wait. You won't be sorry.

Best project we have been involved with with our homes we have owned. My wife and I are VERY picky and particular. We almost always have something that we feel wasn't completed properly or experience bad service. We encountered nothing with this project at all. The initial selection process was very easy. Their sales was very professional and not pushy. We looked at several project as referrals. Decided to go with Precision and happy we did. Their crew was always on time, worked late, cleaned up after each day and we're very polite and professional! And the project foreman Matt was wonderful to work with, very responsive, and did what ever we needed to keep us happy and the project on schedule. And the project turned out great! Everyone in our neighborhood was envious. We highly recommend Precision and would use again!

I was very impressed with this company, from the first meeting to the final inspection. They were very good at keeping me informed of when they would be arriving and what they planned to get accomplished in that day. I am a hands-off person, meaning that I like to trust people to do what they are hired to do, so I leave them alone to do their job. They were trustworthy and went above and beyond what I expected. They discovered some rotten wood when they removed our old deck. Rather than continue working, they stopped working to go to Home Depot to get replacement boards. If they weren't honest, they could have easily let it be and I would never have known. It's sad to say that there are a lot of companies that would have done just that! I highly recommend this company.

Very professional and thorough contact. The estimate came back much higher than we budgeted it for so we are looking into other contractors. I know they do beautiful work and if our home was more expensive or in a different location we would consider them more carefully but we need to more economical

I was very satisfied with their work. They showed up on time. We worked with the owner to come up with the plan. We knew exactly what was happening and the deck turned out very well. I would hire them again.

We used Angie's List to get 3 estimates before we chose the contractor for our deck project. We ended up selecting Precision decks. The construction took place last fall and I'm just getting around to writing a review now. SELECTION PROCESS: Bob came out and met with us to go though design options and materials for our new deck. Out of the 3 contractors I spoke with, he came across as the most sincere and knowledgable. Given our particular yard, landscaping, and roofline, he provided his honest opinion on what would work best with our home. He didn't try to oversell something that would have looked wonky. The estimate provided was extremely clear and outlined the different material options (cedar vs. composite) available. CONSTRUCTION: The teardown and completion of the new deck took about 2 weeks total. it took a couple additional days than expected because the lumber company tried to "dump" some bad looking wood on us so we had to wait a couple extra days to get replacement materials. I really appreciated that Precision Decks ensured that all quality materials were used in the construction. COMMUNICATION: Throughout the construction process, we were updated almost everyday on what they were planning to do. CLEAN UP: Not a scrap of wood or dropped screw was left behind. We live on a golf course and when I'm out in the backyard I get people taking pictures of our new deck as well as complements on how great the design is and how it looks.

Bob was accommodating to my schedule as I work and can't be home all the time. He showed me pictures of decks the company has built on his ipad, gave ideas, suggestions. Within a few days I was emailed a price list based on different materials. He is the only company that did this so that I can pick and choose the materials I wanted given my budget. If money was no object, I'd ask for a maintenece free deck, built out deck posts, lights of stair risers, etc. By having a complete price list, I'm better able to make a decision. We decided on finishing our basement. We will put a deck on in the spring and would certainly consider having them build our deck.

Bob met with us several times to prepare and complete plans for our deck/screen porch and was extremely helpful in the design/planning stages. Once started, Matt oversaw the project and was readily available, checked on the crew's progress daily and gave an in person update on progress and next steps every 2-3 days. The crew was hard working, pleasant and respectful. The entire job site was picked up at the end of each day. A+ for communication, attention to detail, resolution of (very) minor blips along the way, responsiveness, availability for questions and expertise. We love the completed project. It is the perfect addition to our home and are SO happy to work with Bob and Matt.

From start to finish (which included three trips 8 months after installation to remedy a leak in the underside roofing), our experience working with Matt and Bob was excellent. Their website was great and they responded to my initial inquiry within hours of my outreach and scheduled a free estimate meeting within days. Their visit to our home was very useful -- they talked about our desires, had many photos of past projects to show, offered many alternatives for decking materials, and provided a thorough initial estimate. They offered options for us to do our own work and cut back on costs, which we chose to do (painting the decking boards). When the decking boards arrived, they showed up and explained which boards should be painted as accent trim and which ones should be the main color, which paint they would recommend, and they gave directions on how much of each board to paint based on how much of it would show (both front, back and edges or only front and edges). They worked carefully to remove pavers where they had to install the deck posts, and cautiously took out some pre-existing footings that we ended up not using when we decided to expand the size of our deck. Their caution reduced the cost of repairing the paved patio once the changes were made. During the building of the deck, they showed up on time, maintained a clean worksite, and were very polite and efficient. When they ran into some challenges with the positioning of an air exchanger intake pipe, they did research to find an acceptable way of rerouting it to work with the deck position. The job was finished within the estimated timeframe and had no cost overruns. The deck is BEAUTIFUL and the new front porch columns were a fantastic updating of our house. Our neighbors have had many great comments about the deck we built and we have enjoyed it enormously. When we encountered a small leak in the finished underside of the deck (where we have lights and fans installed) six months after the deck was complete, Matt came out three separate times to repair it until the job was done right - at no extra charge. It is leak-free now. We think our deck is beautiful, it complements our house and we enjoy it regularly. We would (and do!) recommend Precision Decks to anyone who asks!
