Lee Evans came out to clean my main sewer drain. Before Lee arrived Roto Rooter had spent 3 hours at my house that morning trying to clean the drain. Their operator made no progress during that time and had equipment problems - the snake cable came off the wheel and the wheel drum fell off the mount. He had to repair both problems while he was on site. Another rep arrived to put a camera down the sewer line. But the operator had gotten no results, the line was still full of water and we couldn't see a thing. They explained that my line was likely broken and recommended excavation to correct the problem. They gave me a proposal and left. I didn't agree with their assessment. So I phoned Norblom Plumbing who had done some great work for me in the past. They don't clean main drains and they recommended Cardinal. Lee called ahead, arrived promptly, I told him what had happened, and he explained to me clearly what he would do. I agreed terms and he started work. Within 5 minutes he discovered the blockage, put a double bladed cutting tool down the pipe and in the next 15 minutes was able to cut through it enough to pull most of the blockage out of the pipe. He cleaned the rest of the drain clean. Afterwards, he put his camera down all the way to the city sewer pipe in the street. My line was completely clean with no holes or breaks. In 90 minutes Lee got results. Lee clearly knows what he's doing. Every step of the way he explained what he would do, checked with me before he'd continue, and got the job done. Plumbing/drain cleaning is a professional service and Lee's work reminded me how important it is to have a skilled and experienced professional, who knows what he's doing, to do the work. I highly recommend him and Cardinal, and I'll have him back out each year to keep the line clean.

Cardinal Services man was thorough in his inspection and informative, explaining how the system works in plain, understandable language. He suggested relocating current second-floor toilet to basement, where an old, unused toilet is installed adjacent to stack where it joins main line to city sewer, and acquiring a new toilet with larger tank for second-floor bathroom. He examined not only the offending toilet but also the basement toilet/stack area, and pointed out a square on the basement floor near the water meter/shutoff where the house's previous owner had had a valve covered over. I'd never noticed, much less comprehended, the significance of this. He also explained how Cardinal works with Gene's Plumbing, which does main-drain replacement, providing camera inspections; he also clarified distinction between new drain lining techniques and older line-replacement approach. Everything he said sounded accurate, honest and trustworthy.

I called this morning with a main line issue that others plumbers had told me they "don't take care of" and they had someone call back with an appointment time within 15 minutes. Within two hours of my call there was someone out to my house working and explaining exactly what the problem was and exactly what he was going to do to fix it. Once he was finished, he explained exactly was was cleaned out of the line and what I can do to stop this from being a problem again (never knew not to put potato peels in a garbage disposal...lesson learned).

The plumber came over within the hour (happened to be close and free!), and fixed the drain within 30 minutes. I had a backed up floor drain from years of lint and rust and paint from the old drain, and he cleared it easily and even got the drain plug out from inside the drain that I had hammer and chiseled out and dropped down the drain the day before! Great work, and a very personable guy. Also, used an Angie's List coupon- thanks!

I was referred to Cardinal Services by a neighbor in order to obtain a second opinion on sewer work. I found Cardinal to be professional, experienced, extremely competent and above all, honest. Their technicians saved us from an enormously costly and totally unnecessary job that Roto Rooter Minneapolis tried to lure us into having them perform. I will use Cardinal Services again knowing that nothing will be proposed or performed that is not in the best interest of me - the homeowner and their customer. Thank you for your work, gentlemen!

I had Zach out to clear and inspect my sewer line. Zach spent an hour getting drainage and cameraing the line. Unfortunately my sewer was broke but Zach was still able to get drainage through a broken sewer. He was very informative and knowledgable explaining my sewer as i saw it on his camera. I would recommend Cardinal Services to anyone, and I would highly recommend Zach as the tech. He was on time, professional, knowledgable did the job in a timely manner, found the problem and the solution to it. I was very happy, even with the outcome of the broken sewer.

I had scheduled service call and was told I would have the first appointment of the morning and that Zach would be here between 8-9am "depending on when he got up." I kept the appointment as I didn't want to look for another provider as I thought I should. Also, I had used Cardinal a number of times before. At 9:15 on my appointment day, I called and was told that he gave a two hour window between 8-10. I reminded Zach that we were his first appointment and he said he could get there in 45 minutes. I canceled my appointment and scheduled with Drainbusters for tomorrow. In a day when everyone is busy and scrapping for work, I didn't feel I was important enough to Cardinal Drain even after working with them before. If your time is valuable, don't use them.

My 92 year old mother still lives independently in a home she's been in for 50+ years. When her laundry tub drains clogged, she asked if I would contact a plumber. I called Norblom who, thinking it might be a main line, referred me to Cardinal. I spoke with Debbie, who was efficient and very pleasant. In 15 minutes, I received a call from Alex asking about what exactly the problem was and so forth. He went to my mom's house in the morning and did the work. My mom told me how nice he was. Alex also took the time to call Norblom for her to get someone out the following day to take care of a different problem requiring a plumber. Alex called me to let me know what he did and how everything went. I can't say enough good things about the experience, especially how respectful people were of my mom.

My sewer drain had been backing up when I do laundry. I'd previously had another big-name sewer contractor out for the initial diagnosis and sewer cleaning/excavation (tree roots at 10 feet from the house), which did not resolve the problem; they diagnosed a 2nd sewer blockage where the house line meets the main street line, and another excavation phase costly significantly more money. So I wanted a 2nd opinion before preceding. Cardinal was excellent. They listened to the story of the work done thus far, spent approx 1.5 hours doing diagnostic work with a water blowbag and snake camera, were happy to to let me watch and explain what they were doing and why. In the end I got a substantially more detailed understanding of the backup problem, and greater confidence moving forward with next steps.

They are really good. They came on a Sunday night because it was an emergency and got it done. This was the second time we have used them. They were professional and quick at getting the jobs done both times. They were much better than other companies we've had in the past. They didn't say that the job was worse than it was.

We had used Cardinal (specifically Alex) in the past but during a remodeling project, another company was called. The sewer line backed up (all over a newly-poured concrete floor!) about 2 weeks after the other company (also an Angie's List provider) had "cleaned" the line . The other company also told us that we probably needed to replace the line to the street (big bucks!). We had worked with Alex from Cardinal before and called him first. He came the next day, worked diligently, and was able to get a 6-inch blade to the street (the previous company could get a 3 inch blade only to 26 feet). We should have called Alex first and saved ourselves some time, money, and a big hassle. He was professional and knows his stuff!

They did an excellent job. They were prompt. Zach is the son of the owner, he was courteous and explained everything. He could not have done a better job! I would hire them again!

The gal who answered didn't want to hear about the issue and just take name/address/phone and asked if there was anything else she could do, so I said, "how about an appointment", at which point I learned this was a message center and that a technician would call me back. The technician called back shortly but was extremely rude from the very first word. Even before we explained the problem, he acted like he didn't want the business. He was unavailable that day anyway, so we went with someone else. Based on this experience alone I wouldn't call them again, but since they were recommended to us by a company we trust, I'd give them one more try unless we find another company that's wonderful before then.

They advertise twenty-four(24)hour service. When I was told the price and it was was no different during the day or at night on a weekend, I asked for service immediately, but the person said he was booked. I must ask what is 24 hour service? The price is a little steep for 20 minutes work, especially if the pipes are new and easier to clean(no roots or other older type obstructions). I would ask for service then negotiate price based on time spent. I would agree with $100.00, but not $160.00.

It was successful, though it went 2 hours over. Why is this OK? Because they completed the job, and Alex even called the City of Minneapolis to remove roots from the city property where the pipe led to the sewer. Because the previous time Roto Rooter came and their auger broke in the sewer line and they wanted to charge me A LOT to get it out.

He was very professional, very informative and patient, answered all my questions, was prompt and courteous. I could see as he was working that he was doing a good job. My drains hadn't been snaked that thoroughly in 30 years. I was happy with his performance.

Came in to unclog a very stubborn bathroom sink drain that a previous plumber (who we had to pay $85 to "try" and unclog it) couldn't do. We called at 12:00, and they couldn't come until the next day until 2:30.

They did a fabulous job. They were on time. The roots were very stubborn, and Bill worked very hard to get the drain open. He also kept me posted on cost as he went along.

This was late at night on a holiday weekend, so the price was steep. But I was grateful that Cardinal Services was there for me. The answering service responded courteously to my call and arranged to have the service tech, Alex, call me within about 15 minutes. Alex estimated the time of his arrival at my house and later kept me informed by telephone of the exact time. He arrived after midnight in a driving rain, exhausted after a long day of work. But he was very nice and got right into the hard work, ending up clearing what looked like a small shrub out of my sewer line to the street. I've used Cardinal Services before and they are the best. Price was steep--holiday rates on top of night/weekend rates. Don't know how the charge compares with what other firms do.

These guys were great. Two days before we were supposed to leave on vacation, our sewer backed up into our basement. Lee Evans was recommended to us and came out to attempt to clear the line. Unfortunately, they weren't able to clear the line and determined that the pipe was actually broken. Lee went the extra mile, however and took the time to exactly locate the break. This allowed the company who repaired the break to make only a small hole when digging and saved us a ton of restoration work. Lee was very professional and friendly, and he helped us to have peace of mind in feeling comfortable with not canceling our vacation. He also works closely with the company who repaired the break and communicated directly with them so that they knew what was going on when they arrived to fix the problem. I wouldn't wish this problem on anyone else, but if you have to deal with it, these guys are the ones to call!

I'M VERY PLEASED WITH CARDINAL SERVICES AND HAVE MARKED MY CALENDAR FOR REGULAR CLEANING MAINTENANCE. THE PRICE WAS REASONABLE, LEE WAS KNOWLEDGEABLE, AND I'D RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE WHO NEEDS THEIR DRAIN CLEARED OF TREE ROOTS AND BLOCKAGES.

BILL FROM CARDINAL WAS FABULOUS. HE KEPT SMILING THROUGH A ROUGH JOB OF CLEARING OUR SEWER PIPE. HE DIDN'T GIVE UP, KEPT THE AREA AROUND THE PIPE CLEAN, AND SEEMED TO REALLY KNOW WHAT HE WAS DOING. I PLAN ON CONTINUING TO USE CARDINAL FOR REGULAR MAINTENANCE. THEY ARE A+!

HE WAS ON TIME AND HE CALLED ME WHEN HE WAS ON HIS WAY FROM HIS PREVIOUS JOB. HE WAS PROFESSIONAL AND VERY COURTEOUS. HE HAD TO WORK VERY HARD TO CLEAR THE MAIN DRAIN AS IT WAS VERY CLOGGED WITH ROOTS. I FELT THE PRICE WAS REASONABLE BECAUSE IT HAD BEEN A VERY LONG TIME SINCE THE DRAIN HAD BEEN CLEANED OUT.

THEY DID IT WITH GREAT DISPATCH AND WERE VERY CLEAN. THEY LEFT THE AREA IN GREAT SHAPE. THEY REFERRED US TO A PLUMBING COMPANY TO HAVE A PIPE REPLACED.

THE CARDINAL GUY WE HAD SHARPENS HIS OWN BLADES AND TAKES PRIDE IN THE FACT THAT HE IS ABLE TO SUCCEED WHERE OTHERS HAVE FAILED.
