Tonka Roofing

Working with Rich from Tonka Roofing went very well and I could not be happier. I had storm damage on my roof and siding. I had never been thru a remodel like this or dealt with a home owner's insurance claim. When Rich came out for his initial inspection he gave me an honest evaluation of the situation and explained that insurance should cover my roof but may not cover the siding as it was older steel siding and may be hard to establish if the damage was due to recent storms or not. He did say he would make a strong case for covering both with the insurance adjuster and was able to get the whole job covered less my deductible. We set a tentative start date, pending the findings of the insurance company and the Roofers were showed up bright and early and had the roof completed in 1 day. The Siding Sub-Contractor were supposed to show up 3 days later, but due to a scheduling conflict did not show up and were starting another job. Rich immediately took charge of the situation and got another crew out the next day. Rich was frequently on site inspecting the work to ensure it was done correctly. In the middle of the siding portion, my son and grandchildren were in town for the weekend and I asked if the siding contractor could make sure my patio, where they had set up to stage and cut material, would be available to use. He ensured me it would be and they did so we were able to a barbeque while they were in town. The job was completed on time and on budget. I have had many compliments from friends and neighbors on how much better my house looks with the new roof, siding, trim and gutters. Would definitely recommend Tonka Roofing

It went well. I picked a color I liked with some suggestions from Rich. New shingles, roof vents, soffit vent covers that went with the house color. I am very happy with the work they did and the way the roof looks. No more leaks!

Tonka Roofing did an excellent job with the roof replacement for our house, garage and shed. Rich offered a very competitive bid, took the time to sit down with my wife and I to discuss all of our options, walked us through the insurance process and performed a great job with the replacement. Rich was very responsive and a pleasure to work with. The new roof looks great and we'd definitely recommend Tonka Roofing to friends and family.

Perfect, went on without a hitch. It started to rain on the day that we were having the install. It set them back so Rich called for additional staff to come and help so that they could get the work done on time. Rich was present on site most of the time, guiding the work and progress. He surveyed the cleanup and came back after the crew was done to do a double check. He kept us informed of everything that was taking place. He also was able to recommend a great electrician to hook up our new attic power fans. It was an extremely positive experience, we are very satisfied with choosing Tonka Roofing and would use them again in the future.

Rich did a wonderful job. Estimate was fair and accurate. I got two other bids and he was fairly priced and had good reviews from a contractor we have used for other work. Work was done very efficiently and the crew did a great job cleaning up when done. Rich was very responsive to our requests and keep us informed throughout the job. After they had finished, I wanted to modify a downspout to accommodate a rain barrel. Rich stopped by and took care of this for me. He stands behind his work and puts the customer first.

Excellent workmanship. Great attention to detail. Work was done as scheduled and estimated. This is the company to call if you want a complete job done well. Included all weathershield, valleys, vents, flashing and warranty.. I've had other roofing work done and this is the most professional job I've seen. Would use them again without reservation.

Rich was thorough in his bid, telling me information about the materials, costs, particulars in regard to the job on my house. He inspected the roof before bidding. His bid was not the highest and not the lowest, and was a fair price. He and his crew were prompt and the crew did a wonderful job over a 2 day span. They cleaned up the surrounding area very well. I would both recommend Tonka Roof and use them again.

Very well, came out quickly, identified the problem, scheduled the work within a week and provided photo documentation of what was done. Happy with the outcome and would recommend.

I shortlisted a few roofers based on Angie's List reviews and called them over to give me a quote for a roof replacement. Though the quote from Tonka Roofing wasn't the lowest, I chose Tonka Roofing because of the overwhelmingly positive reviews (43 "A" ratings out of 45 reviews when I researched them). It wasn't just the reviews though - Rich was professional, clearly very knowledgeable and didn't pressure us or try to upsell us things we didn't need. He explained the pros and cons of various shingle options and gave us good advise. My insurance was covering part of the roof replacement - Tonka Roofing took care of all the paperwork and made it a painless process for me. As I had a deadline to finish the roof replacement within a short period for the insurance claim to be accepted, Rich helped get us on his schedule quickly and in spite of several rainy days before the scheduled date, made sure my roof was done in time. The crew was professional and friendly and did an excellent job. I was worried about accidental damage to my new siding, but after seeing how careful they were as they went about their work, I stopped worrying. Rich was there personally to supervise the project and also came back later to make sure his crew had cleaned up well. He did a walkthrough, explained where they had to replace the boards and made sure I was satisfied with the work they had done. Overall, a great experience. I will recommend Tonka Roofing without any hesitation based on the excellent job they did on my roof.

Work went very well, they were correct in diagnosing from the outside what was wrong, but upon entering the wall the damage was more severe than they anticipated, which I agree it was, and was clearly impossible to determine that from the outside. The cost was therefore higher than their quote, but the offered me the option to get a bid from another builder if I was uncomfortable. I was very comfortable with what they were proposing and what it would cost, having some knowledge of framing and building I felt it was entirely fair given the damage. They also showed in detail how the leakage had occurred and where in the roof area the original construction was faulty. They proceeded with their reconstruction, and it went very well, with high-quality workmanship and skill, as it required some careful matching of existing lap-siding and window / corner trim, It looks original in every way. Cleanup was complete, looked like they had never been here. I am truly very satisfied with the result, I would use them again in an instant.

Rich came out very promptly, and inspected the roof. Found that there was nothing wrong with the roof vent itself. He nailed down some flashing that had un-nailed itself, which could be the cause for the sound. Rich also provided some very valuable tips and advice on what to do, should the problem persist. Rich came all the way out here to Minnetrista, and charged me nothing for the service. What a great professional, and at the same time what an honest human being. I would definitely call Tonka Roofing again. Very professional gentleman, knowledgeable, honest, and trustworthy.

I now have a very fine roof, we had a slow start because of two days of rain, nothing to be done about that. I found Rich easy to communicate with, responsive and interested in my concerns. Rich also demonstrated concern for his crew by helping them lift the shingles to my roof because the delivery truck/crane was unable access my drive because of overhead wires. They replaced the roof after a hail storm. They came the day they said they were going to come, and had the whole thing finished in one day. Upgraded the ventilation for the attic, painted my vent stack for me, and there are no leaks. I also appreciated their patience while we waited for the insurance company to get the final payment out.

We had used Rich Martinson and Tonka Roofing for a previous roof issue after finding him though Angie's List and recieving estimates from 3 companies. We contacted him for this second roof issue and again, the overall experience was excellent. Rich and his staff are honest, professional and trustworthy. He gave us options on the repairs including different prices - there were no hidden costs. His communication about the job, completion dates, and cause of the problems were excellent and explained to us in detail. When additional problem areas were found, he communicated them to us clearly and explained what would be needed to repair them. He took the time to repair holes left from the old guttering, and while the work being performed was only on a small section of the house, he still checked the entire roof for shingles that needed to be repaired/replaced, doing so in the process. Timely, friendly, professional

Could not be happier with Rich. When a tree trimmer informed us two days ago that a low-hanging branch had damaged our roof, we immediately searched Angie's List for "roof repair." Found Tonka Roofing and called Rich Monday afternoon. Reached him right away, and he was at our home bright 'n early the next morning to assess the job. As it turns out, we had four separate areas of damaged shingles. He quoted us a fair bid for the job ($400) and was able to handle the work promptly. As promised, Rich was at our home this morning and spent several hours completing the work. In fact, Rich went the "extra mile" for us, cleaning our gutters around the repair area and cutting back some additional tree branches that might cause future issues. Rich is smart, responsive, easy-going, hard-working, and professional. If another roofing issue arises, we will not hesitate to call Rich and Tonka Roofing!

Rich Martinson and his crew are nothing but professional. The materials were delivered the night before, nearly everything was done in one day. There was absolutely nothing left behind, nothing for us to pick up. The roof is beautiful, and done right this time. Not only did they replace the hail damaged roof, but replaced or repaired things that needed to be done that the last roofers did not do. The sofit vents were not done that day, but Rich assured us that they would be back to take care of it. Without any calls from us, they indeed did come back and finished their work within a short period of time. We have used them before for an emergency and now for the roof replacement, And would not hesitate to use them in the future

Completed efficiently and very well...with reasonable cleanup. Overall outstanding and professional. It was important to us that the owner is very detail-oriented and manages his business in an impressive manner. While I said I would use this provider in the future, we should not have to be concerned with this, given the lifetime shingles -- major tornadoes excluded, of course!

Everything went very smoothly! Rich Martinson and his employees were very professional, responded promptly to any of my questions and the roofing team completed the main roof in one day and cleaned up our entire yard/driveway so that there was no debris anywhere. The additional roofing team came back for our three season porch on another day and did my husband and I a huge favor by reconstructing the porch roof, which was heavily damaged from lack of care and upkeep from the previous owners. As a female, I really appreciated how Rich treated me with respect in all of his interactions. I had met with several other roofing companies for a sales pitch and price estimate to replace our roof and Tonka Roofing was my number one choice because of how well they treated me as a woman (several of the other companies spoke down to me or asked me when my husband would be able to speak to them), their professionalism, their high quality of work and craftsmanship and their fair price for good work. I definitely recommend this company. You will certainly get what you pay for - a beautiful roof that will last for years!

Rich was professional and punctual from the first encounter (bid) until the job was done. We received multiple bids and not only was Tonka roofing the least expensive, Rich was also the most experienced and most professional of anyone we dealt with. The roof was done on time and exactly how he said it would be. Rich was wonderful to work with the the work he did was immaculate- not a single nail was left in our yard. The roof looks great! We couldn't be happier with our experience with Rich and Tonka roofing and absolutely recommend him!
