Following a negative experience, I was contacted by the owner of The Mustard Seed to rectify the situation. We were very pleased with his response and were very impressed with the pride he takes in his business!

Outstanding! I wanted a yard that would attract wildlife, birds, butterflies, and bees. Cory drew up plans and explained what each plant and feature would accomplish toward my goals. Once we finalized the plans, Cory was out to prepare the yard over the several weeks prior to the start date. This was to take care of overgrowth in the yard, but with attention to protecting the monarchs and other butterflies, birds, and bees. The Mustard Seed is very environmentally oriented which was in line with my values. Cory was prompt for appointments and very patient and friendly during our meetings. The work formally started on August 18th as promised. They brought the necessary equipment, had a large team of men working out there, and cleaned up each day after working. Everyone on the team was hardworking and pleasant. They worked from 9 am to dinner and Cory was present every day for most of the day to monitor the progress and assist. They finished early too and the yard looks fantastic! Cory will be back throughout the fall to check on the plants and pond, and back periodically over the next couple of years to check on the health of the landscaping and take photos (done with my permission). I would have no hesitation to recommend Mustard Seed to anyone. In fact, I did. My mother also hired them to do work, and some neighbors have talked with Cory about landscaping as well. This company is based on Christian, moral, and ethical principles and it shows!
Description of Work: I hired the Mustard Seed after speaking with Cory, the designer, and Mark, the owner. I was impressed with their interest and professionalism in the job at hand. The work was an extensive yard renovation that included a large water feature, trees, flowers, shrubs, mulch, patios, pavers, arbor...the works! I started the planning last fall and Cory never flinched at the plan changes and had many great ideas for the yard. After interviewing a number of landscapers for this project, I was convinced I fond the right team to work with.

A landscape designer from The Mustard Seed came out to our home to do a landscape consultation. We are contemplating relandscaping our front entry, back patio area, and the foundation areas around our house. We would like to tear out the exisiting plantings and replace with new fresh materials and plants since our landscaping is about 24 years old and tired. The designer did not provide much information, unless I asked lots of questions and pressed her further. Much of the visit was a site walk where she asked me what I wanted (this is a consultation?). I thought the consultation would involve providing recommendations on plants and materials that would work for the areas we were interested in relandscaping. In addition, I thought there would be some kind of written summary, but nothing was provided and there was no follow up. At the end of the and quot;consultationand quot;, I inquired as to some ballpark costs to do some of the work. When the designer indicated that area along our front walkway and just the front foundation plantings would run in the neighborhood of $10K (tearout, preparation, and placement of new plants), I knew this was not the company for me. I ended up getting bids from 3 other companies for relandscaping around the whole house (not just the front) ranging from $11-$13K. Basically, I feel that we paid for someone to come out and do a site walk in preparation for a bid. Most other companies do that gratis because they are trying to win your business. This was a waste of my time and money. Note that I was going to let this go and chalk it up to experience, however, recently I decided that I should let the company know of my displeasure with their service. I called the manager of the landscaping department, left a specific message with my contact numbers and still have not received a call back. That was a week ago.
Description of Work: Provided a landscape consutlation. Normally $100, used coupon for $50.

I have worked with the Mustard Seed in the past for some large shipments of garden soil and mulch, and thoroughly enjoy visiting their garden center. The people there are always very nice and helpful. I contacted the Mustard Seed last summer to start a new landscaping job for my new house. The previous owner had a rough landscape design done that I liked, but I didn't think it was a project I could take on myself (waterfall and pond especially). I met with Cory and showed him the existing designs and told him that I had a limited budget, so anything that would need to be done would most likely need to be done in phases. Cory was very knowledgeable especially when it comes to water features and quickly identified some faults in the original designs I had. He set to work, took some measurements and my existing plans and created a new plan and estimate. I really liked the design, but unfortunately the way it was set up, a vast majority of the work would need to be done in the first phase. Which immediately priced me out of the project. (Total budget would have been more than 20% of the cost of the house). I was allowed to keep the designs, so I ended up doing the work myself without the water feature and with a lot of sweat equity of my own.

We had this company do our landscaping last year. They were very friendly and efficient. This summer I was looking for 15 yards of red cedar mulch for the backyard. I tried a couple of the highly-rated companies on AngiesList. I called one of them 3 times in 3 days, but they never returned the call. One didn't do bulk mulch. Only one gave me a quote. As a double-check, I called The Mustard Seed, even though they weren't on Angie'sList. The total price (including delivery) was almost $100 less than the other quote I had. We scheduled delivery for the next week, and they arrived exactly at the promised time. We are very pleased with the product, price, and responsiveness.
