Matt Tyson did an excellent job in coordinating and communicating with us because at the time of the renovations we were in Connecticut and visited minneapolis maybe twice to oversee proceedings. Everything including product selections were communicated via email, phone conversations, pictures. As you can imagine it required a tremenous amount of trust and professionalism on Matts part and he delivered superbly. The renovation work exceeded our expectations and all deadlines were met. We highly recommend Matt's services and continue to wish him the very best.

He was always willing to answer calls and question and always willing to come out to walk through anything. His crew was really good, they were super clean. I was really worried about them after coming in to paint after we had our floors redone and they would just get dirty but they took care of everything. Their price is a little higher than other estimates but their work was just amazing and it was worth it.

They were very professional. We liked their proposal and everything but we liked another company better. They quoted us around $30000, which was more than the other quote we went with. They seemed very knowledgeable and we liked them. The other company came to our house with the proposal rather than emailing it to us and they were able to show us on the computer how exactly it would look and made changes according to what we wanted, they were very good and the pricing was much better. That is why we chose the other company. We were going to hire Tyson but we went with the other one when their estimates came in. They were really good and I would not discount them.

I found Tyson on Angie's list and called to get an estimate on a small job of adding baseboards down our stairway into basement as well as baseboards in our basement bathroom. Matt was in the area and came out to see us the same day and put together a quote within a few days. We booked the work and scheduled it within a week or so. The carpenter who came was extremely professional and did a great job. We have since asked Tyson Construction to help us remodel our upstairs bathroom. As we are on a tight budget Matt has been very understanding as we rework certain aspects of the quote. Most construction firms don't want to deal with smaller jobs like ours (under $$10,000) but at no point has Matt made us feel like he is not interested or like he doesn't want the work. We look forward to working with him on this project, and if all goes well, he will be doing our kitchen next!

Wow, I don't know where to begin. Matt Tyson and his team are fantastic. In my 25 years of home ownership I cannot remember one really positive experience in dealing with a contractor until Tyson. Our sinking house was a project no one wanted to tackle, mainly because they didn't know what to do or how to do it. Tyson, had tons of ideas and solutions. The work was amazing to watch because the sequencing of the events....jacking the house up, stabilizing the house, remove the retaining wall, building a new wall, level the effected rooms and then fix the damage rooms. It was perfect. The work was done on time and on budget and they left the area looking like no one was there. Last year we built a new deck. A few of our neighbors added new decks as well, so we got bids from 4 contractors that our friends used. Tyson's bid was one of, if not the highest bid. Once we started comparing bids and asking questions we found that Tyson's bid had EVERYTHING listed and itemized and the other contractors did not. When we started adding up all the miscellaneous and undisclosed costs Tyson's bid was actually a few hundred dollars cheaper. When we got our final bill from Tyson, it was about $1,000 cheaper than the original bid. Matt Tyson said he was able to save some money by getting better costs or not needing as much material as he budgeted etc. When is the last time that happened? Matt Tyson does very high quality work, I have seen some of the high-end custom interior work he has done (not like our projects). He is always on time for every meeting or appointment. His budget numbers have always been right on. The quality of his work has been fantastic. You never have to guess if you are going to get hit with a surprise budget item down the road because he does such a thorough job of budgeting every item. Tyson has been the best contractor we have ever used and we have built a number of homes and remodel a lot more. We have two more projects we'll be doing with Tyson next year - a complete bathroom remodel and a mud room addition. Unfortunately for Matt Tyson, my wife will call him for small and quot;handymanand quot; projects because she knows she can trust him and his team.
Description of Work: We've use Tyson on a number of projects. Interior - We removed doors and added new walls and built cabinets for us on the inside of the house. Cost Approximately $2,000 Exterior - We live on a very steep hill with a retaining wall that was collapsing and our house was sinking. Our four season porch had dropped 2 inches. Matt and his team jacked the house up, had new retaining walls built, reconstructed our four season porch and our screen porch. This was a project no one else wanted to take on. Cost - Approximately $20,000 Deck - On our third project we added a new deck. Cost Approximately $12,000 Tyson and his team built a new deck that is increadable. A number of our neigbohors had new decks added last year so we received bids from the contractors everyone used. On the surface Tyson's bid was the highest, however when I started asking questions and We had a lot of contractors bid the deck project because we had

Matt was always very punctual and professional, as well as responsive. He did the carpentry himself--very good quality--and subbed the remaining work. I'm not thrilled with the quality of some of the subbed work, namely the drywall (there are numerous spots where taping is visible now that it's been painted, or there is unevenness in the drywall). When I was concerned about the quality of the paint job and what I felt was something that should have been painted and was overlooked, Matt brought the painter back in at his own expense to make it right. There were a couple of other little things that didn't go quite right. While I had to pay for a change order in these instances, Matt was quick to correct the issue. The job would have come in right on target with the estimate, but for the change orders. I would definitely hire Matt again.
Description of Work: Matt and team remodeled my upper half story, which had been previously gutted and insulated, turning it into a master suite. He also roughed in a bathroom, which I hope to have completed in 6-12 months. Matt was always very punctual and professional, as well as responsive. I asked Matt for an estimate on a list of small and large items that we needed done in order to get our house ready for sale. All work was scheduled quickly and to fit our schedule. Even when subs were used, Matt was always on-site first thing and he and the subs took great care in the work they did and in safeguarding the rest of our home. He provided a referral for our external scraping and painting work but did not play middleman, allowing us to work directly with the painters and get the job done very quickly as weather permitted. There is no doubt I would use Tyson Construction again as the need arises.

Great! Matt was on time and a little under-budget. He went above and beyond with the details. When the new cabinets were installed, there was a gap where the old cabinets and the wallpaper was. Matt offered to re-wallpaper the kitchen, but I told him I wanted to paint it. He told me to pick out the paint color and he had it repainted. He even installed a light fixture I had bought for the front entry.
