Despicable business practices. Scott Ferrell is dishonest, combative and impossible to work with. He charges an obscene amount, inflates his costs and is unwilling to discuss with the customer. His defense is the same with each customer - your house was the problem before he arrived. Don't waste your time. There are many honest, hardworking tradesmen in Minneapolis. Avoid this one. *FYI: He has two profiles on Angie's List - let that be a warning. There is a consumer warning that pops up when you click on the other business listing.*

Lakes Area Home Improvement Services, Inc. had multiple delays in starting the project. Twice the installer arrived with incorrectly sized materials for the siding and trim repairs. I had previously supplied original sized samples so they could source the correct sizes, yet they brought the wrong materials. Installer arrived on sub-zero weather day. Removed damaged siding and trim board, installed vapor barrier and installed the new materials. The siding is slightly different sized. They installed shorter run pieces on the side with knot holes at the bottom of the siding that are now popping out and the bottom of the boards are cracking. I had to remove the thinly applied caulk seams that were cracking and apply new caulk properly prior to priming and painting this summer. During the recent rainstorms, I discovered water leaking out of my gutter next to my house, where the repair guy had used a cutting tool - I assume to enlarge the opening for the larger downspout. He damaged a 16 foot piece of gutter that never leaked previously. The sidewall of the gutter was cut open, allowing water to run down the side of my house. The company did not mention this damage to me or have yet to offer to replace the damaged gutter. Installer did not use gutter outlets to properly fasten the downspouts to the gutter. Instead the installer screwed the downspouts into the bent down cut bottoms of the gutters. Very disappointed that I paid them $2245 for this service. You would expect quality work would include proper installation of gutter outlets and gutters that don't leak. You would also expect your contractor to not create new leaks in your gutters. In my opinion, this is not professional treatment to a customer, for a company that calls themselves a home improvement service. In this instance, in my opinion, they did not improve my home as I will need to replace the 16 foot gutter and repair the outlet for the other downspout.
Description of Work: Siding repair on front and side of house. Replace portion of cedar trim board. Installed two 3x5 downspouts - replacing smaller original ones.
