B & R Hardwood & Tile

Every element—drywall, painting, building,—went very well. Kurt was a pleasure to work with, setting up subcontractors, advising on colors and design, checking on finished work, in a timely and professional manner. We love the final result and are thinking about inviting the company back for a bathroom remodel.

We have used Kurt and his team for projects at our last two homes. In our most recent home purchase, we wanted beautiful hardwood on the entire upstairs (where the bedrooms are). He understood my vision from the start and consistently provided me with my options as we ran into obstacles in our 1939 country club home. They also re-tiled our entryway/mudroom floors and miscellaneous projects including custom carpentry. They do beautiful work and Kurt is a true expert and professional. Highly recommend! - Christina

Kurt and his team refinished our hardwood floors in the summer of 2017, as well as built new floors (to replace carpeted areas) that matched the existing floors beautifully. He also refinished/updated our outdated maple-stained staircase. Everything was done with care, craftsmanship, and professionalism. Two years later it still looks fresh.

B and R did a wonderful job sanding, staining and refinishing my floors. I am thrilled with the final result. They were also punctual, responsive and completely dependable. The price was very reasonable as well.

After one tile installer came out and decided he didn't want to do our demolition, I had to find a company that would do the work. I came across B&R on Angie's List and read a few reviews. Carol was very helpful in taking a look at what demolition work needed to be done and getting us connected with The Tile Shop for tile purchase. Demolition was quick and clean. Tile installation looks very professional and we have received many compliments on the work.

Carol and Kurt really helped focus us on what we needed to do for our kitchen project. They were very patient as we made decisions. Carol went with us to shop for materials and tile, which was an unexpected personal touch that we greatly appreciated. We did have a few issues come up and they were responsive in both discussing and resolving them. In our opinion, their markup may have been on the higher side but overall we were pleased with the quality of our project and the relationship. We truly love our new kitchen.

We would highly recommend B&R Hardwood and Tile. They managed all aspects of our master bathroom and master closet remodel. The end product is amazing!! Kurt and Carol provided excellent customer service and made sure we were happy every step of the way. It was also so fun to work with them - they are nice, down to earth people and always keep the customer’s best interests in mind. They have some of the best sub contractor contacts in the industry, so the quality of work is outstanding.

We refinished most of our first floor and added new parkay in our living room. Kurt and team are exceptionally thorough, communicate frequently and effectively, and complete very high quality work. Kurt and team are easy to work with and provide comfort that your home is in great hands. The color selection was exactly what we had discussed, the clean up was easy and our floors look outstanding. We'd recommend B&R and hire them again for future projects.

This was the third time I used B&R for a home improvement project, and based on past experience I expected excellent work. This project was by far the most complicated of the three, but if anything, my expectations were exceeded. Kurt Kuhlman told me the job would be done by mid-June. In fact, B&R finished the first week in June. They took great care to make sure all work and installations were done correctly, and small glitches were fixed without complaint or any extra cost. The project was complicated by numerous changes I requested mid-stream, and all were accommodated at a reasonable additional cost. Kurt also made several very helpful design suggestions. Overall, I could not be more pleased. They deserve an A++, not just an A.

Really a completely fantastic experience - we needed our hardwood floors refinished and when Kurt came over to check the floors out and create a quote, we mentioned all the other work we needed done. To our surprise, his team could perform all of the work we needed done. This included hardwood floor refinishing, demo work on a bathroom, installation of granite counters, installation of tub and complete tile work on walls and floor, installation of bathroom hardware/lights/shower door, as well as enameling cabinetry in 2 bathrooms. The team was always on time, professional and very careful of our beautiful new floors and carpets. We would absolutely hire Kurt and his team again.

The price was on the high end of quotes we received but ultimately we chose B&R because Kurt was detailed and responsive and we felt we could trust him with the job. Kurt and Carol were great to work with and made sure we were aware of every step of the process. Kurt’s installers were great and Kurt visited the job almost everyday to review the work and see if we had any questions. Ultimately we were very pleased with the outcome. The only hesitation would be with the length of the boards with the product we chose and slight gaps that can appears between boards, but this is not an installation or product issue, rather a result of prfinished flooring. All in all we have really enjoyed our new floors and would recommend B&R!

I can't say enough good things about Kurt, Carol, and the crew at B&R. From the very first meeting through the last brush stroke of paint it was a great experience. Kurt was onsite almost every day making sure that the work was done to perfection. We were in constant communication on a daily basis, even on weekends if necessary. Kurt not only rode herd on his crew (they were really self sufficient and needed very little supervision...Greg and Rob did all of the tile work and we couldn't have been happier...not only are they top notch craftsmen but they are delightful to be around.) he kept us on track so that the job could be completed on time. Kurt and Carol have enormous experience in picking tile, stone, and colors. They accompanied us to pick out all of our tile and granite countertops. Kurt is a color maven and had excellent suggestions for matching paint colors to the tile and countertops. B&R specializes in hardwood floors and that part of the project was the same experience...easy! Kurt suggested that we extend the hardwood floors so that there was a feeling of continuity with our living room hardwood floors. The choice of flooring was amazingly similar. I guess my greatest compliment to Kurt, Carol, and the team is that I've already had an opportunity to recommend B&R to someone and they've already been in contact. I'd have to say that on a scale of 1 to 5 (5 being the highest) I'd give B&R a 5 star rating.

Kurt and team truly understood what we wanted to accomplish, laid out a clear plan to complete the project and finished ahead of schedule and on-target to their estimate. The team was very thorough and expert in their installation and we are thrilled with the outcome. We will use B & R again and recommend them as a high quality solution to flooring projects.

Project went exceptionally well and we are very happy with final outcome. The basement bedroom and bathroom were converted into comfortable livable spaces in the time the contractor had allocated for the project. We were given daily updates and there were no surprises regarding financial projections. The work done was exceptional with the same professional crew doing the entire renovation, including tiling the bathroom shower and floor and also tiling the upstairs kitchen backsplash. Kurt and Carol were wonderful to work with, and I would definitely recommend this company for any remodeling project.

In a word, our experience with B & R was perfect. Kurt and his team worked with us every step of the way to understand our budget, what we wanted, and how to best achieve our remodel. The results were exactly what we expected, and the craftsmanship was exceptional. No surprises and attention to detail every step of the way. This was a major investment for us and we are glad we chose B & R to complete the work.

We thought this company was very prompt at responding to us, professional, and gave us an estimate that was very detailed and thorough. We were impressed. We did not go with this company because their price was a bit higher and my husband wanted someone who would continue working on the shower where he left off instead of starting over (we do understand why they felt it best to start over). We would consider this company again in the future as they looked like they would deliver high quality work and we trusted them.

The project went smoothly and Kurt always kept us informed about the progress and the plan. There was a few days' delay due to a miscommunication with a sub-contractor, but Kurt worked hard to resolve that and get the project back on track. This is a very professional company, and we would highly recommend.

Amazing. We had a few adjustments along the way, but Kurt and Carol did a great job of managing expectations and talking with us when we had questions. Very, very professional! The wood choice and the stain choice were difficult decisions, at the end of the day, they helped us with the decisions, but it was completely our choice. We love the durability of the wood, the quality installation has held up to our two kids and higher traffic areas in the entry way - after 4 months. Love the little detail work with the vent covers too.

Kurt and Carol were great to work with. They were very professional and extremely prompt in replying to all emails. The subcontractors they hired were also very professional and did a terrific job. We needed some trim fixed due to differences in the old and new floor. The carpenter did a great job. We would definitely hire them again!

They were very professional. I liked everything, but the price was a little too high. I think the quality would have been excellent. I could sense that they would take care to make sure the work that they would do would be done well.

Turned out it needed to be replaced in areas, and a much larger area refinished that we knew about. Both Carol and Kurt were excellent to work with and very knowledgeable about how to work with our insurance company. The finished product was beautiful---they kept to a right timeframe and worked with subcontractors to get all the related tasks completed. Our insurance company accepted all the costs as estimated and said it was all within the norm for the area.

We installed hickory hardwood floors throughout the main floor of our house and installed tiled floor in the back entryway, hallway, laundry room and powder room. From start to finish, everyone we dealt with was very professional and did an excellent job. They even cleaned up after themselves at night. Each person working was very polite, knew what they were doing and took care to do it right. We were without the main floor of our house for about 4 weeks, but this was a major project which included emptying the main floor of everything. The floors are beautiful, the powder room looks great, we are very happy. They came out yesterday to get any small details to finish up the project, we are very happy.
