B & R Hardwood & Tile

We have exsisting wood in other rooms on our main level. Kurt arrived to bid on the project, examined our need and porvided us with options to match our exsisting wood. He chose to use the same product that we had used in the other rooms. Robert was proficient and friendly while working on the project. Had a set back during installation. One or two of the boxes of wood had the wrong finish on them from the manufacturer. Unfortunately we did not realize it until the project was almost complete. Kurt contacted the wood salesman who came to the house later in the day and it was dicided to remove all the "bad" wood and replace it. This was all down with no fuss. Added three days to the project but was done to our satisfaction. While working on the wood floor we discoverd that Robert also tiled so we had him complete a fireplace surround ($200 labor) after completing the floor.

Kurt came out to our home twice to discuss/bid providing flooring throughout our soon to be finished basement. We were immediately impressed with his knowledge and customer service. We ended up deciding to try installing the flooring ourself even though I was 9 months pregnant at the time. The tile went well, the carpet not so much. We called Kurt back after our baby arrived and we came to our senses. He graciously revisted the project and worked so hard for us with respect to product choice, finding options that fit our tight budget and most of all, our now urgent timetable. From the second meeting to install, we had carpet within 2.5 weeks. Mark, the carpet installer Kurt works with, was equally fabulous, responsive and knowledgeable. We could not be more pleased with B & R and will definitely use them again for future flooring needs.

I originally hired B&R because they had worked for a friend of mine and she had great things to say about their work. And I was really happy that I did because they did a great job on both projects that they did for us. They were professional, punctual, easy to work with, very friendly, did high-quality work, and have great customer service. I always felt like I could call them with questions about the work, about scheduling, or anything else, and I always got a prompt and courteous reply. They helped me pick out materials and Kurt even arranged for us to be able to visit the house of another client of his who had the same type of flooring installed that we were considering. (The client also raved about the floors and about Kurt's work.) So that helped a lot in terms of making our decisions. Kurt also knew that we were interested in eco-friendly materials and recommended the Celenio flooring, which I hadn't heard of before. I can't really compare their price to others' prices because honestly I didn't look around a whole lot after getting such a strong recommendation to hire him, but I feel like the price was definitely fair for the quality of work and the overall experience of working with B&R (I have had past experience working with other contractors who don't stay on schedule or on budget, have bad customer service, etc., and I just had no problems at all of this type with B&R). Also, I never felt like they pushed me to do anything just because it would mean more earnings for them. The second time around I had an estimate from the insurance company that I had to work within, and that was not an issue at all -- Kurt figured out how to make that work out with what I was interested in. Oh, and they were even helpful about things like moving furniture that I couldn't move on my own. I realize this may all sound over-the-top positive but I just honestly don't have any complaints about them and it was such a relief to be able to hire someone who just made everything go smoothly and come out well with as little inconvenience as possible. In summary: the floors came out great and I enjoyed working with B&R, and would definitely hire them again and recommend them to others.

Kurt and Robert could not have been more helpful or professional. They kept us updated on all the time schedules and projects that they would be doing in the next few days. They went way beyond the normal contracting as they even assisted us with moving furniture and working extra hours as we were on a time crunch. They were extremely neat and respectful of our home. They were extremely helpful with ideas and suggestions. We would hire them again on any project that we would be considering. I would recommend them for any projects.

They were very professional, I was pleased with how the project was managed also. They gave me all the info on what was going to be done and how long it would take. They then gave me instructions on what I needed to do to take care of the floor in the future.

The entire project took about 3-4 weeks once we completed hammering out the details of the contract. Kurt is very thorough, sure that both parties were satisfied before moving ahead. The contracts were very detailed so that there would be no confusion or surprises at the end of the project. We were not living at the house while the work was being done and Kurt called us nearly every day to check in about questions or concerns. He did a great job overseeing his people and was always there at the start of a new part of the project. Whenever we called him with questions, he always called back within the hour, even on a Saturday. Any concerns that we had, we discussed until we were both satisfied with the outcome. His company is very good at customer service. I know he had other projects going on at the time but he treated us like we were his only one. Our floors are absolutely gorgeous! They did an amazing job restoring the over 100 year old floors. The staircase is beautiful and fits the architecture of our old home. The various people who worked on our house were very nice and courteous. They cleaned up after themselves well and took very good care of our house.

Kurt provided an estimate within a week that was significantly higher than other bids I had obtained by companies found through Angie's list. Therefore, I did not acquire his services. ($21,000)

Robert and Kurt are partners that have a small company that does great things. Right from the beginning I knew that they would be easy to work with. They both have great ideas, worked with our ideas and even made adjustments at the last minute. They go out of their way to make the whole remodeling process easy.

I interviewed several companies. I felt that their price was reasonable. It was a three day process. They were conscientious working in my home. They did good job and the floors look wonderful.

Beautiful work. Everything was easy, and they only charged us modestly more than originally estimated when it turned out that we needed to build a two-inch thick hearth to stay up to date on the building codes. (This we necessary because we were installing an insert gas fireplace.)

They looked into a lot of details and they found a good color match of existing details. The work place was kept clean. When they were here working they were very focused on the job.

It was very good. They were clean and cleaned up after themselves, they were on time and they arrived fairly soon after scheduling the job. There were two principles (owners) that showed up but only one did the actual work. It took them a few days to complete the job.

Overall the job went very well. I worked with Kurt to get an estimate and finalize the job. Kurt was very responsive and professional. Once the job started I was kept up to date on the status. Robert, who is a co-owner, does an excellent job installing the ceramic tile as well as the stairs. Robert called whenever he had questions. I am very pleased with the results and would not hesitate to hire them again.

Jamie showed up when he said he would and did a fabulous job. Even though I am doing the tile work myself, he made some recommendations that I had not even thought of that would make my work easier. I would recommend this company to anyone and will certainly use them again.

We initially planned to replace the hardwood floors & install the new fireplace in the unit before moving in. Kurt, the contractor, subsequently suggested the additional work, and because of his excellent record and the appeal of having the dusty, messy work done prior to moving in - not to mention his excellent sales ability - we decided to add the additional work he recommended. The work was completed when we arrived in the area, and we were able to move into our clean, updated new home. We were highly pleased with the quality of the work. Note: The cost was greater than the original estimate because we kept adding work to the original scope of work.

Wonderful. Kurt is an excellent owner. I wish I could give him an A+ for responsiveness, courtesy and professionalism. His crew did an excellent job preparing the house for the job and was able to complete the work with very little notice.

We had TWO outstanding experiences with Kurt Kuhlmann and the crew from B&R Hardwood and Tile. We originally had them refinish our first floor oak flooring (In bad need of refinishing since building our home 15 yrs. previously). They did an excellent job and we were about to notify Angie's List about it when we returned home from a family trip two months later, finding the newly refinished hardwood flooring extensively damaged due to broken water line within the refrigerator icemaker. Obviously pretty frustrating. Our insurance company wanted us to use another company to repair the damage immediately, but we were already so impressed with the results with B&R that we insisted on them returning to repair the flooring. They cautioned us not to proceed with refinishing until past the following Winter to insure maximum drying. As a result they saved significant expense since much of the floor did not need to be replaced (refinished only). Other bids would have replaced much more extensively and needlessly, and we later found out others would have cut corners that we clearly would have been unhappy with. The guys from B&R are prompt, personable, respectful, very knowledgeable, and artists of their craft. This is my first ever posting on Angie's List and I strongly recommend that you give Kurt and the B&R crew an opportunity to bid your project. They are great to work with and you can feel secure that you will receive the same high quality results that we did both times!

They were SO wonderful. Kurt met with a few times to go over what we wanted and to make sure our estimate was correct. The floors look beautiful and we will definitely be recommending them to others.

They do very detail oriented work and are very thorough. He is articulate and makes sure to clean up afterwards. He works to please his customers and he answers any questions you have.

We were extremely pleased with the project from start to finish and our experience with Kurt Kuhlmann. He is very professional and knowledgeable. He was willing to spend the time necessary to answer all of our questions as we worked through decisions on the right flooring for our needs. His install crew took special care of newly installed wallpaper which was a concern to us. Kurt was in touch with us each day to check in on the progress. The floors look great, and we are very pleased with the results.

Very professional, got everything I expected. It ended up being $1,000 more than the original estimate because the plaster had to be fully taken down versus just halfway up. They cleaned up VERY well everyday, my wife was very pleased with that, which was important as we have 2 small children. I would use them again when I do our second bathroom.

Kurt responded to my estimate request and follow up questions very quickly. He listened to my requests and provided a quote based on my needs. I needed the work to be completed quickly, but his schedule did not allow for it. His quote was in line with other quotes I received.

Kurt is running an impressive business. He came out promptly, he had a folder of information about his business, along with many references, and was very knowledgeable. He is very respectful, concerned, and honest. We decided not to have an extensive repair at this time, but would certainly go with B&R Hardwood and Tile when and if we do.

Planned job about 8 weeks in advance of work. Contractor found it difficult to find matching wood, but finally was able to match size and quality of the maple. Excellent installation, quick and professional, kept areas clean, and did good clean up at end of project. Had a pocket door that was stuck following re-installation of baseboards. Came quickly to home and fixed problem within 24 hours. Installers and finishers were courteous and professional.
