The work was done better than expected. A great experience.

Kurt was called to come to the property to bid on a job for installation of hardwood floors and carpet. Right from the start he tried to sell me on a very expensive remodeling plan for the kitchen. I made it clear that I was looking for a contractor who would provide me with a high quality service at a competitive price. I am not a sucker who has unlimited budget for his grandiose plans for an extremely expensive kitchen remodel. I had called him regarding installation of hardwood flooring and carpet, not for the entire remodel. After unsuccessfully trying to talk me into an extensive and expensive kitchen redo that did not fit my plans or budget, we discussed the hardwood floors. I had to remind him to measure the bedrooms for carpet which he relunctantly did at the end of the meeting. He did not come with samples of flooring, carpet, photos of his work or any references. He said he brings sample to follow up appointments only. Another contractor I had met with brought photos of his work and samples. He did not give me a price at that time and said he'd get back to me with a bid within a few days. I called him twice over the course of 8 days and still never received a bid. I found him very unprofessional and I would not consider using this contractor. He completely wasted my time. I can't determine if his company does satisfactory work on flooring installation because he chose to not cooperate with me to even bid the job. I did interview another contractor on Angies list for the same work and he behaved in a very professional way. I am not sure who I will use yet as I need more bids, but it will not be B &R!

I was impressed from the start with Kurt the owner. He is open to suggestions and makes suggestions. He recommended we go with white oak rather than red and gave detailed reasons for the recommendation. Kurt worked with us to help reduce costs when possible. His crew was quick and efficient. There were a few small glitches but overall the experience was great. I would recommend B & R. The bid was very thorough and listed various options available or possible areas where there may be additional work needed. Kurt kept in contact throughout the process. Overall and good experience and the floors look great.

The work commenced according to the scheduled start date, and continued very closely on schedule (we had an unforeseen problem with our entry sub-floor that required additional time, materials and labor, but the setback was very minimal). Kurt and his team always checked in with me to discuss schedule, progress and any necessary changes. Whenever I had questions, they did not hesitate to provide me with the answers I needed. To say that I've been extraordinarily happy with the communication would be an understatement. The work performed was of the highest quality. Each of the subs that Kurt assigned to our project were polite, professional, and took a great deal of care and pride in their work. The work site was always cleaned up prior to the team leaving for the day, and they took care to minimize the impact of the needed demolition to adjacent spaces. I am extraordinarily happy with the end results of their work, and with the numerous 'intangibles' that made this project run so well. I've mentioned the communication and professionalism already - but cannot say enough about how important these were to allowing this project to run so smoothly, even when unexpected issues surfaced (i.e., the squishy sub-floor and some odd construction details of our house). A good example of this is Rob, who installed the tile in our entry and bath. When Rob had finished prepping the tub/shower area, he noticed the the ceiling along one wall bowed upward, creating a 1/4" gap above the wall surface. Rob pointed this out to me, and talked me through how he would address this so it would not be noticed once the tile installation was complete. Rob meticulously cut the subtle curve into the top row of tiles. If Rob had not mentioned and shown the gap to me before he put the tile in, I would never have known about it...the finished work was so carefully done that I cannot see that there was ever an issue with the ceiling to begin with. I fully plan to call on B&R again for future projects, and recommend them very highly. I am a person who is typically very sparing with praise, but I truly cannot provide enough positive feedback about B&R. I recommend to homeowners - take the time before you are ready to start a project to become informed about the kind of work you plan to have done. A little time spent doing research can help ensure that you are able to 'ask the right questions' of your contractor. It really helped me find a contractor that I like, trust, and will use again and again.

Our master bathroom ceramic tile shower began leaking around two months after purchasing the home. We determined the leak was coming from the shower floor. I received four estimates and selected B & R based upon Kurt's professionalism during the consultation and detailed estimate he provided. Kurt was confident they could fix the problem even though I elected to only replace the lower portion and not the entire shower. Kurt provided us with a timeline on how the repair was going to be performed and when the job should be complete. Kurt's installer Rob, was professional, courteous and did a great job cleaning up after himself each day. Kurt and I communicated frequently via telephone conversations and emails. The entire process went smoothly. In my opinion, the repair turned out great and we are now able to utilize our master shower again.

We were very pleased with Kurt and his team's professionalism, attention to detail, and ability to meet our sense of urgency. We needed our floors refinished while we were out of town and Kurt did all he could to work within our timeframe.

B & R was one of three places to give estimates and were inline with on of the others, the third costing more. They did a great job and were done a day early (3 days instead of 4, if I remember) The floor looks great and the patch job was perfect, and I'm not able to tell that there was an old vent there. I actually had wanted them to do some additional work in an area where the floor was already finished and they declined, because they didn't thing they could do it without having to redo a lot of the already finished area. I appreciated them being up front about that. Outstanding job.

They did an outstanding job. Beautiful work - it was a refreshing experience. I wouldn't hesitate to call them for another project, and will recommend them to my friends.

I received an estimate, a moisture test was done on the cement slab. We had to special order the white oak parquet as it was not readily available. The product was delivered, the floor was laid, buffed and 3 coats of poly applied. All new floor moldings were installed as the old ones were inadequate. The floor was a work of art!!

We were very pleased with the entire process as well as with the end result. Kurt guided us in our choice of wood, which we love, and was on top of each phase of the demolition and reconstruction of our floor. The subcontractors were prompt, polite, as well as very skilled and efficient. They all did excellent work, including a thorough clean-up.

Kurt was very courteous and professional. The project involved installation of new floors, sanding and refinishing of existing floors, and moving the carpets to two other rooms. The baseboards in the rooms were also re-painted. All the aspects of the project were done with great care and quality.

Initial bid looked good but as the job progressed lots of additional charges were added. Our biggest complaint is that the paint tape used to supposedly protect our wood floors ripped the finish off in the bath, hall and master bedroom. Kurt was adamant that this was due to a poor finish on the wood floors even though we had never had a previous problem and the floors were only ten years old. We agreed to split the cost of having them refinished. After talking to a few professionals they told us that the painting tape is never meant to stay on wood longer than overnight or it will adhere and pull finish off the floors. We also found this when doing some simple research of our own on the web. So we were significantly inconvenienced as we had to move everything out of our bath and bedroom to have the floors brought back to the quality they were prior to the work with B and R. The final straw was when we received the bill for the floor refinish - half of the cost or $225 PLUS $50 charge to move one cabinet which was left in the room! A perfect example of the irritating nickel and dime charges peppered throughout the project.

We had Kurt over to do the original bid, then the work was done and he was over again to make sure it was great. The floors turned out beautifully! We have a 100 year old home and it is always a challenge to get things done right. I can't believe the difference and am almost disappointed to have to put furniture back in the rooms! I was in contact with Kurt a lot - it is hard for people to get in touch with me, but not with him! He used phone and e mail to make sure you have the best experience. He was always checking with me to make sure I was happy with what was going on. He is so easy to work with, always willing to go the extra mile to help out. We are going to have him do more work this coming week - and I'm looking forward to it!

Wonderful. Kurt, the owner, was fantastic and really worked with me to find the best product given my budget. He went out of his way several times when obstacles were encountered to stay on schedule and budget without sacrificing quality.

Kurt was professional, courteous and friendly. He was able to accommodate my tight schedule by coming within 24 hours to look at the situation and then provided a bid the next day. He offered his suggestions on how the work needed to be completed and gave a complete run down on what would happen and when. There were 3 different crews to do the different jobs involved. Each crew arrived on time, answered questions and let me know what they were going to do and when it would be finished. When a few questions came up, I was called immediately and they were resolved. They were all courteous, friendly and helpful. The area was kept clean. Kurt stayed in email contact with me throughout the project. I felt very attended to. The results are beautiful and an unfortunate situation with a damaged floor was seamlessly resolved. We would recommend B & R highly.

I found them through Angie’s List. The work that they did was fine. The floor looks great. I wouldn’t give them a total A because sometimes there were miscommunication problems.

Wonderful. We were in a bind and Kurt was extremely flexible and willing to work with us. Very professional and thorough in gathering all of the details in order to give us a correct estimate.

We got a detailed estimate from Kurt right away. He was thorough and complete in his evaluation of the job and made some great suggestions that improved the overall project. We got timely updates throughout our project and everything was executed as planned. Our refinished hardwood floors look great as do our new hardwood stairs, hallway and new carpeting in the living room. Kurt is very reliable and easy to work with.

We had priced out several other companies to do the work and price was very comparable however Kurt had better customer service and spent over an hour with us on the first visit just talking about wood flooring. Kurt was fantastic throughout the whole process. He came over several times bringing wood samples and when we finally narrowed down between 3 types, he let us keep them for a week to see how the wood color changed in different daylights. The installation took about a week (my husband actually did the demolition to save some money) and Kurt came the second week to install all new baseboards. We had a few small issues however Kurt was at the house each day to oversee the work and resolved them right away. The guy he hired to install the tile was excellent and very nice. The floors look amazing and it makes the entire house look larger. In addition, we were looking for a new vanity and Kurt suggested using a remnant piece of granite. He also helped us pick that out and had it installed. Kurt's customer service was excellent and we have actually asked him to give us a quote to install new countertops and backsplash in the coming year.

Overall it was a positive experience. They were able to finish the project on schedule even with some unforeseen issues involved. They were able to answer all of my questions from start to finish. Their professionals were timely and courteous. Although I was very happy with the quality of the finished project, there was one area of the floor that required additional attention. Once again, they were easy to reach and addressed the issue in a timely and professional matter. I would definitely use this company again in the future.

B & R Flooring was one of several companies I considered to install new flooring. I awarded them the work because their quote was competitive and they were the only provider that could perform all the work I wanted done including new hardwoods, refinishing existing hardwoods, removing and disposing of carpeting, installation of new carpeting, and the installation of porcelain tile. The quality of the work they performed is exceptional and my new floors are beautiful. Kurt and team actually delivered more than what was in the actual scope. Additionally, Kurt is my dog's new best friend. I would definitely hire them again

The remodeling project was quite overwhelming, but Kurt was very helpful and patient. He had some good ideas that he recommended for my house; some of them I followed through on, and some I denied. He was very prompt with his e-mails and phone calls when I had concerns or questions. He also was very good about informing me of what was going to be happening the next day. On the negative side, Kurt, himself installed the crown moulding in my living room and kitchen, and did very sloppy work! Also, a closet door had to be removed to install the floor tiles. When they replaced the doors back, they installed the doors incorrectly. When I confronted Kurt about it, he and his employee insisted that they did it correctly. He said he would re-install the doors, as he was obligated to do so, but stated in an e-mail that "I would like to respectfully propose that you leave the closet door as we left it." I chose not to have Kurt correct the problem, as I did not want to deal with them any further, being given such a hard time about it. Therefore, I had my handyman install the doors correctly, as he also felt that the doors had been re-stalled incorrectly by Kurt and his employee. At the end, there were several little misc. projects that I had requested for Kurt to do. He allowed only one day for those projects to be completed as he was starting a new project the next day with a new client. Plus during that one last day, he had to leave for a few hours to meet with a new client. During the course of the remodeling project, Kurt stated that we would be having a walk through at the end with his partner, which never happened. Also, I don't recall of having an exit meeting with Kurt, as time wasn't allowed for that. Therefore, at the end, I felt very rushed with the completion of my 5 1/2 week remodeling project with Kurt.

After searching Angie's list and calling 3 companies for estimate. I called Kurt about remodeling my fireplace. He promptly returned my call and scheduled an appointment. At our appointment, I showed him a picture of the fireplace I had in mind. He asked if I had thought about remodeling anything else. He suggested this would be the best time to perform any changes. I said the floors; he suggested overlaying the old painted paneling and install recessed canned lightening, since the room was dark. He was wonderful to work with on this project. He was responsive to all my requests. He went with me to help with the selections. We went to the Tile Store to select the stack stone. After my discussion with Kurt, about the flooring choices, my husband and I decided on hardwood flooring. Kurt did suggest engineered hardwood. For two reasons, first it would save on expense and second we wanted wide plank. Kurt was concerned about the gapping with our weather in MN and the room was very cold in the winter. I insisted that the hardwood must be made in the USA and not China, which is very difficult to find. After, we determined that the engineered hardwood at many of the suppliers was from China, we decided to go with USA hardwood. Together, we went to several sources and finally found a supplier who went the extra mile. I have a 110 pound yellow lab and a 15 pound Bichon Shih Tzu who loves to play together chasing each other around the room. I was concern with wear and tear. The supplier suggested a new stain called Rubio and the harder hardwoods. He made a 3ft by 3ft sample in Hickory with Rubio finish and hand distressing. I brought the sample home, to match with the stone, granite, my furniture, fabric and accessories. We also ask Kurt to enlarge a bathroom doorway to accommodate a wheel chair. It required finding tile to match the bathroom threshold cutting and grouting. Also, it required moving an electrical switch and outlet. The outlet was brought up to code. The tile around the outlet had to be replaced. The door and around the switch was painted. His Painters also prepared and painted the garage hallway. Kurt was excellent with resolving problems to please us. If he did not have an immediate answer, he researched and made the necessary calls to resolve the issue in the best way possible. Kurt made sure that we knew all of the subcontractors prior to them starting their part of the project. Kurt made sure all the subcontractors cleaned up after themself. They vacuumed their work area and washed the tile floor that lead into this room. The subcontractors did a wonderful job and are extremely talented.
