Well for starters, the most experience person on the crew walked off the job after having an argument with one of the workers, they didn't order enough concrete and the concrete was not colored. Had I seen the finished product I would have insisted the mistakes be corrected before paying the balance for the job. The "color" was basically plain concrete except for a few sections that were a brighter white and some that were a strange purplish hue. The stair rail was initially four inches off center, the ladder and diving board were also off center and several joint caps were missing from the coping (we later found them in the pool). When I complained, Mr Sivanich came back and whined that we were being "nit picky". He argued that the center was only a few inches off (Like that was OK?). We took out a measuring tape and showed him that it was four inches off center resulting in the railing being eight inches further from one side then the other. He didn't seem to grasp this but reluctantly agreed to fix all of the problems. Mr Sivanich explained the purple hue was the result of the wrong colored stain being applied; however, I didn't order stained concrete which would have been a cheaper option. I paid $800 extra for colored so I don't know why they were staining the concrete in the first place. I can only guess because they screwed up the colored concrete so badly, they were trying to cover it up. Sadly, the purple, albeit the wrong color, was the best looking part! He then claimed that the cement just had to cure and the color would develop and even out. And he would "power wash" the purple stains out after it cured. As far as the stamping, some places were stamped deeply, some shallow and some not at all and there were random leaf patterns that look as if they had been scratched in! I latter discovered this was the result of the "stamp" being over lapped in such a way the seams (which should not show) created a "leaf". He did come back and re-cement the railing but is was done in such a sloppy fashion, I could have done a better job. It's an eye sore. Mr Sivanich then attempted to "power wash" the purple stain off, which did not work. He then said he would come back and re-stain the concrete. Mr Sivanich came back 6 weeks later and brushed in a powdered stain on the dried concrete. The concrete did not absorb the stain at all, not even slightly. The chalky mess just blew away, most of it, in the pool. I have been in contact with Mr Sivanich several times over the past several months. The cement did not magically "cure" and make everything even out. He was supposed to seal the concrete as well after it "cured". This has not happened either. He has repeatedly promised to correct the issues. It is now winter, the pool is closed down, the snow has fallen and my pool deck is an eyesore and was never even sealed. I was willing to work with him. I didn't even demand he refund the $800 I paid him for colored concrete. He has promised to come out several times. I have actually stayed home from work and waited for him but he has just not shown up. This is the worst service I have ever dealt with in my life. It's just breathtakingly awful! HELP!
Description of Work: I contracted Bill Sivanich of Frontier Concrete to install a colored, stamped concrete pool deck around my pool. This included cementing in the stair railing, diving board, ladder and the pool coping. I requested the color match my retaining walls. We agreed on a sample pattern that he showed me and a price of $4400 which included $800 extra for colored concrete. I chose colored concrete over the less expensive stained concrete option because it doesn't show cracks and chips like stained concrete does. The project was suppose to start on August 4th and take one day to pour and stamp and then they would come back in a week for a couple of hours and seal it. They then postponed the original start date, which I had taken off from work to be home, and reschedule for the next weekend. They actually charged me an additional $195 for coming out on a Saturday. I didn't have much of a choice, when I initially contacted Mr Sivanich, I told him I had an event coming up and wanted to have the deck completed by the 14th of August if possible. He assured me that he could have it done and ready to use by then, so I sent out the invitations. They required payment in full on the day of the of the actual pour. I had to attend a wedding that day so I left a check with a family friend who stayed at my house. I was not happy about the situation but due to the time frame, I agreed. I considered canceling but Mr Sivanich insisted he would take care of everything and would make sure I was happy with the result.

Response from Frontier Concrete
My name is Bill Sivanich with Frontier Concrete. I just want to explain about this situation, customer and Bill Sivanich both parties “verbal agreement” about the pool deck on day of pouring cement. 1. All Pool accessories, (railing inserts, diving board ladder and stair railing not ready for Frontier Concrete on Saturday day of pouring cement) by pool contractors of customer. 2. Colored grey intergrals on concrete surface of pool deck is a match of her retaining wall. Upside from the grey swirls of her wall. Based upon her comments: the problems in which “occurred” on site! I knew we would "need to go back in spring". A push to pour the deck. Frontier Concrete and Masonry Inc. will achieve the surface finish w/high end stain/sealer by the opening of pool April 15th 2011. I was never contracted thru Angie's List or a member of Angie's List. The customer had not had the pool inserts, and pool accessories not completed at the time of our pouring of cement. She is not being fair on what her duties were to do at the time of our job. She and her pool builder are at fault for most of our problems. Conclusion of this job; her pool builders had not finished the pool shell for our job to turn out correctly and that is the truth. Reason for my man to leave the project. (Example) The day of pouring cement, the inner pool walks were not clipped and our cement on site! William Sivanich-Owner
