Advantage is incompetent and dishonest. In 2018 Advantage replaced all roofs in a Woodbury townhome community. In the process, they installed the kick out flashing incorrectly and left gaping holes in many homeowners' siding. Photos are attached. Thus, in Spring, 2019 many homeowners sustained water intrusion into the interior of their homes as a direct result of the holes left in the siding by Advantage. Advantage was supposed to have repaired the holes in the siding before Winter. Advantage had "reported" to the townhouse management company that the repairs had been completed. On 2/2, I climbed on a ladder to look at the holes in my siding and no repairs had been completed - that was a lie. I have attached photos that can be shared. Advantage was incompetent in the original roof installation and has been completely unresponsive and dishonest since. ALL I AM ASKING FOR IS THAT ADVANTAGE FIX THE DAMAGE THEY CAUSED! I have attached the photos to back this all up.

The gentleman from Advantage Construction has been a tremendous help. Although the work has not been performed yet, Advantage has come out to my home for a few consultations in order to find affordable options to best match my current siding. I have recommended them to all of my friends and I will never use anyone else but Advantage for my siding needs.
Description of Work: I need some vinyl siding repaired as well as a vinyl siding corner replaced. Advantage Construction has consulted with my in order to give me a few different options for the resolution of this problem.

One pleasant afternoon a man knocked on our front door. The man introduced himself as an employee of Advantage Construction, Inc. and offered us a free no obligation hail damage assessment. Normally, we just send those men on their marry way and close the door. But not this time, unfortunately. Coincidentally, we had a roofing contractor over just a few hours prior to this unsolicited visit to give us an estimate on some vents. That other person mentioned that there may be a few insignificant hail spots, but nothing serious enough to try to get reimbursed. We explained it to the Advantage guy, but he was persistent. We thought, what harm would it do to have a second opinion? The Advantage guy went up on the roof and eventually returned with a story of his own. Apparently, our roof had much much more serious damage that the first roofing guy realized. The Advantage guy took out his phone and showed us some pictures. The visually enhanced spots looked like moon craters. The first guy must have been blind to miss that? Then, the Advantage guy turned on sweet talk and convincingly explained to us that we have at least 75% chance to get fully reimbursed for the entire roof on the first try. In case, we'll get our claim denied on the first try, not to worry, we can always appeal to get a second opinion. And then it's almost a sure thing. Believe me, I'm not easily fooled by overzealous salesmen, but the guy had a convincing technique (probably polished over the years and perfected by collective experience), so he was able to convince us that his opinion is actually trust worthy. Long story short, we proceeded to submit a claim with our insurance company and had an adjuster stopping over a week or so later. The adjuster reported back some very minor damages that any aging roof would have and certainly way below our deductible. We were certainly disappointed, but the Advantage guy said not to worry. He suggested to submit an appeal. While we were having those conversations, our annual house insurance renewal letter had arrived. Sure enough, our premium went UP close to 30%. Thanks, the Advantage guy. My wife almost lost it. Year-over-year, our premium would normally go up 2-3% tops, but not to worry. There are always some helpful individuals out there to push you toward a more sizable premium. Naturally upset, we contacted our insurance company to see what exactly caused such a gargantuan increase. We were told that since we now have a claim on our record, even though they didn't pay a penny to us, the premium still gone up because the claim is there. Next, we contacted the Advantage guy to see what to do next and to find out what would happen if we won't succeed in our appeal. The Advantage guy immediately went dark and we received an email from the company's rep ordering us to stop any communication with not-so-helpful-any-longer Advantage guy. As a parting gift the company offered several opinions on how this is completely our fault. The opinions were wrapped up into a nice package, which lead us to believe that we are not their first angry clients and they had plenty of time to download few things off of a legal services portal. Advantage opinion: you may have had prior claims, which may have affected your premium. Fact: we never filed a claim in our life prior to the Advantage guy showing up at our door steps. Advantage opinion: it's extremely unlikely that the insurer would raise the premium on a single storm claim for a customer in good standing. Fact: the rate was raised due specifically to that claim, so it's extremely likely. Advantage opinion: it is impossible for that rate hike responsibility to be passed onto a company that did a free no obligation inspection. Fact: It is certainly possible to pass on that responsibility, if we'll be able prove that we were misled by misrepresented inspection results. We are in contact with our attorney and will certainly try to pursue this as far as we can. Interestingly enough, we had two roofing contractors over since this debacle took place to get some additional estimates. Both are licensed roofing contractors (and not general contractors that don't specialize in anything in particular). One of the contractors explained to us how this actually works. Most roofing and general contractors offer free no obligation roof inspections. There is nothing really wrong with that. Where it really gets out of control is when some unscrupulous fast talking salesmen come down from that roof (while denting your gutter with their ladder, I might add) and start convincing you that your perfectly fine roof is in fact needs full replacement. Those guys can easily spot a pimple on an elephant, enlarge that pimple to the size of Mount Kilimanjaro, and then go to work on you with the only objective to convince you to file a claim. Why, do you ask, they'd waste their time on a seemingly frivolous claim? Because, it's a numbers game and if you'd convince enough people to file, then one or two would pay up. Who cares about 20 other poor bucks like us that would be left behind paying the bill. Additionally, the way it apparently works with adjusters that they get paid more if more serious damage is found, so if there is a combination of unscrupulous roofing guy and an unprincipled adjuster, who knows what's possible. We asked both licensed contractors if they'd consider our roof to have enough hail damage to advise someone to file a claim. Both professionals said that there is nothing there that would prompt such a suggestion, unless driven purely by greed in pursuit of personal gain. So, to underscore everything above said, think twice before making the same mistake and falling for this "free no obligation inspection". We sure learned our lesson and will be installing a "No Soliciting" sign in the near future. Maybe it'll keep away some money hungry individuals that would do anything for a buck, even if that buck smells funky.

Response from Advantage Construction INC.
[Member Name Removed], our reps are trained to be meticulous with documenting storm damage during the free inspection, presenting the findings to the property owner so they understand the extent of the damages that occurred on their property and assisting them with the process if they make the choice that filing a insurance claim makes sense for their situation. Forecasting whether a insurance company can or will raise rates for any reason is not something anyone but an insurance agent can advise on. We were happy to assist you through the process until we were threatened by you with preconditioned extortion. You wanted us to provide a plethora of free upgrades to compensate you for your alleged premium increase. This was before we had a signed agreement to do business with one another and why an agreement was not going to be permitted... After the extortion attempt occurred, management could not allow a field rep to navigate that situation. You had been advised to communicate with upper management only due to your extortion threat. It’s unfortunate that this was your experience.

We started out with a different Construction Company salesperson who got our roof done right away and then ghosted us for months. I got Advantage's Josh Lungstrom's name from a neighbor. He came over right away, reviewed the ins adjustor's estimate, and started right in documenting missed damage and working with the ins company who gave us EVERYTHING Josh asked for. Josh built the claim from $29k to $59k. Besides the roof, we now have new full house siding, west windows, deck door, outdoor lights, and deck. It's like a whole new house! Josh is super-friendly, communicative, highly expert, and so easy to work with! I can't count how many times he responded to our requests with "We can do that." The crews were great too (including installing the siding in 10 degree weather). I designed what I wanted our house to look like on PowerPoint and gave the picture to Josh. He replicated it almost exactly!

Brandon Burch, our project manager, was a pleasure to work with from start to finish. He was very professional and provided us all the information we needed to help us initiate a claim with our insurance company for hail damage to our roof. He also was very helpful helping us decide on new shingles, and suggesting that we upgrade to the next level of shingles for a cost of $300. He met our adjuster at the house and worked closely with the insurance company to facilitate the claim. Brandon responded to our calls promptly, and answered our questions honestly. His crew showed up when he said they would, and worked very hard to complete our large, steep roof in two and a half days. They did a great job and cleaned up both as they worked and as soon as they were done. The roof looks great. I would hire this company again to work on my house in an instant, and would ask for Brandon to oversee the project.

The initial steps towards starting the work to be done was great. Chaz Bekke was very helpful in explaining the process ahead. He was easy to contact through phone calls and texting from beginning to end. I had many questions and he was always patient, even when I changed my color choices a few times. When the re-roofing job started the crew was fast, efficient, and polite. They did an amazing job and the roof looks great. Their cleanup efforts were just as commendable, and Chaz came by and did another sweep for nails in the grass. With children about that was important to me. Once my choices were made, and the siding arrived, the work commenced. That crew was also great, arrived early, worked steady all day and did an incredible job, right down to the details. My house has been transformed and updated. I love it. So many compliments from friends, family and neighbors. People slow down and gawk as they drive by. The whole experience was stress free thanks to the guys at Advantage Construction, and especially Chaz. I am so glad I chose the right company and will not hesitate to hire them again.

Advantage Construction, Bethel, MN, personnel worked closely with the USAA insurance company in making repairs to my home in keeping with the estimated costs of repair. It involved a number of communications via iphone and emails, Chaz Bakke my consultant and Advantage assured my needs were met .They did it promptly. The work done by their subcontractors was excellent and timely. Mostly I was pleased with their ability to professionally and expertly handle the somewhat complicated adjustments in the transactions with the insurance company, something not everyone is familiar with. All of their personnel were outstanding to work with, especially their field personnel. I would not hesitate to recommend this firm and its personnel.

Advantage Construction was awesome to work with-- from start to finish! Right from the introduction, project manager Matt Heisick and his associates were straight forward, honest and knowledgeable. I purposely did not sign with anyone to get my work done immediately after the storm because there were so many "local" contractors (that I had never heard of before) running around the neighborhood knocking on doors and pressuring neighbors to sign with them that it was confusing and you didn't know which way to turn or who to trust. I almost signed with one of them, but when I told them I wanted to think it over, they said they didn't have time for me to do that. That's when I decided to wait and get some referrals first. When Matt stopped by, he was forthcoming with a list of referrals in our area and right in my neighborhood. He was patient while I took time to call many of them and ask about the work Advantage Construction did, whether they were satisfied and would they hire them again. Simply put, all willingly said YES. While explaining the contract, Matt and the company owner sat down with my wife and I and explained everything in detail AND in very simple terms that made us feel very comfortable about signing their contract. They worked with our insurance company, State Farm, so that we didn't have to worry about any of that. It looked to me like Advantage Construction had a very good working relationship with the insurance company. I felt good about that, and even the smallest details were negotiated in our favor. The roofing crew was impeccable! They were efficient and did awesome work, even painting an existing flue pipe to match the new vents that were installed. They were friendly and did a great job cleaning up (Matt even helped!). Follow-up, communication and answers to our questions and concerns were always prompt and always with our satisfaction in mind. When it came to the billing they were patient, as I had to get multiple checks endorsed by CitiMortgage. And the best part, at the final invoice... there were NO SURPRISES. It was exactly as we had discussed and agreed upon! So ask me if I am satisfied with Advantage Construction and would I hire them again? Simply put, YES! Mark Heiling Lakeville, MN

It was a little unsettling at first to have contractors (multiple) ringing our bell immediately following a hail storm. The provider representative was very friendly, however, and offered a lot of good advice. The provider was promt for our many meetings and always had the materials needed. Throughout the process, the provider provided sound advice and guidance. The roofing job took one day and job site was well cleaned up upon completion. We have been very pleased with this contractor--as have the many neighbors who used them (we all got hit by the hail).
Description of Work: The provider inspected the exterior of my house following a hail storm (the provider did initiate the contact, but we were sort of clueless as to what to do so the service/advice was appreciated). The provider took pictures of all damage immediately following the storm. The provide met with me to offer advice as to our next steps. We scheduled our insurance agent to inspect our property and the provider met with the agent then with us to discuss covered work. The provider replaced our entire roof and all the hardware on the roof.

The work went exceptionally well. Our contact person (Chaz Bakke) was always available if we had questions. He was on site when the work began on the roof and continued to contact us periodically until all the work was done. When we chose this contractor at the beginning, Chaz sat down with us and very clearly explained what we could expect and how soon we could expect it. And he made sure that what he explained to us really did happen! The construction site was left as clean after the work was done as it was before the work started. We were very pleased and have already referred this company to our neighbors.

Employee showed up unannounced and offered free estimate to my neighbor and tried to get one from me. Employee was telling my neighbor of all these things wrong that should be fixed that were damaged by hail. She also had another contractor who called and asked to come out give an appraisal. That company said there was just minimal damage and nothing to be concerned about. He then stopped by my house to give an estimate. I let him know that I had already had someone look at the roof and said the damage was minimal. He took the opportunity to critique them as they were not a roofing company, but a general exterior contractor and wouldn't know what they were talking about. What is advantage construction? A general exterior construction company. I'm sure if he went on my roof he would surely find plenty to work on. I didn't find him trustworthy when other contractors can say things are fine.
