I would not hesitate to recommend them to others. I had no problems with them whatsoever. Everything went fine. They were on schedule and on time. We had no issues with them at all. He brought his books over initially to pick out colors and things like that. He went over how he felt we could keep the integrity of the shape and look of the house. He made several suggestions as to what would really be the best way to keep the outlook of the house, which is a small colonial home that's over 100 years old. His suggestions of colors and the right vinyl siding worked very well. He worked well with me with that and I'm very pleased with that. He dealt with that himself. He didn't have anybody else come over. He came over himself to work with me.

It went great. David Bahr was very professional and I felt that he was very experienced in doing cedar shingle roofs. The result proved that I was right. He did a beautiful job. ( Many roofing companies don't even do such a small roofing project.) The bid was for $880, but I had an Angie's List 5% discount.

They did good work and I would recommend them. Their prices were not the lowest, but they were still fair. The process was effortless and they were easy to work with. They use satellite estimates so their estimate were accurate. There was a slight delay with the gutter work, but I would still use them again because they were very professional and did great work. .

I contacted several contractors to give me an estimate in July, and of the two that could get anything done this year, D S Bahr was by far the most responsive with the estimate. Dave, the owner, came out with all materials needed to do a drawing and get a ballpark estimate. Within a few days he had emailed me a contract offer and a detailed plan of the proposed deck. A few days later, the same came in the mail. While the estimate was on the higher end, I was convinced by his professionalism that the job would be done right. Even though Dave was very responsive to emails, it did take a bit of prodding to get his team locked down for a date to start the project. I'm only noting this because it was part of the process. Dave explained to me at the time of the estimate and just before the start date that the rough winter delayed the start of the construction season really created a packed schedule for the team and rainy weather was causing an inconsistent timeline, which is totally understandable. Most of my prodding came because I was doing the decking and railings and wanted to lock down a specific day to buy the materials, mark off days to take off work to do building, and notify my friends what days I wanted them to come help. Again, just noting the experience as advice to customers on how to plan if you are doing any work yourself. Dave's team came out first thing in the morning the start day and we reviewed the work to be done in detail. Good thing we did, because it turned out that the original plan did not have the deck covering the full space that it should have. The foreman called Dave up and he came over within 15 minutes despite being at another job. Dave looked at the issue, immediately assumed responsibility, and offered to take on half the cost of the missing portion on the plans. I thought this was completely fair and a very upfront way to do business. The team completed the job as fast as they could. It was raining off and on for a couple of days, so naturally they couldn't work. But, they were in there first thing in the morning (or right when it stopped raining) every day they could work. Within my timeline that I wanted to start decking, their work passed inspections. I was extremely impressed with the stability of the framing and footings. My friend who helped me do the decking and is pretty experienced with carpentry was very impressed as well. He said it was "built like a tank." I'm pretty sure the framing will last for decades. So, while the cost of the project was expensive, it will last. I would recommend D S Bahr to others, obviously noting that the high quality of their work does come with a cost.

Very pleased with Dave and the crews he used. Both had worked for Dave many years. Dave was always quick to respond and answer questions. All the workers were very professional, respectful and great about answering questions. They were hard workers and stuck with the roof job even with some rainy weather. We really appreciated that. Cleaned up each day and kept us informed of progress. Very pleased with outcome!!

The service worked out very well. Two guys came to work on the gutters and it took one day to finish the job. The roof took a couple of days to be replaced. I would say they are easy to work with and he is very helpful. We had a little issue and they came out right away and took care of it. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

We hired D S Bahr to replace our old wooden deck with a large 14' x 40' timber tech deck with a privacy fence on one end. Myles, Russ & the entire crew were great! They were very careful not to damage the roots of our huge "deck shading " ash tree when digging the footings! They worked fast & efficiently. The entire crew were polite & responsive when I had questions or requests . They had never been asked to build a privacy fence on the end of a deck before , but Myles did a great job of choosing materials, designing & integrating the fence into the deck design . My neighbors even called me to tell me how nice it looked from their side! I would highly recommend "D H Bahr " if you want a well built "beautiful" deck ! ! !". We really love ours !! "

He was exceptional. He was really good. He came when he said he would. He listened to my questions and answered them thoroughly and was willing to adjust the scope of the job to fit my financial limitations. He appeared honest to me to judge what needed to be done first. It wasn't I'll just do the whole house and that's it. He was willing to entertain the job that would be partial to only the critical parts.

Roofing: Complete tearoff, replace skylight, solar tube, all. Job looks good and clean up was great. Siding turned out well also. I had a couple of issues with the siding removal as far as the old siding landing on plants etc. Called Dave and he showed up in a short time and took care of the problem with his crew. Installed Hardie board siding, new soffits, gutters, and trim. The finished product looks great as they did a good job on the corners, the caulking around window/doors, etc. Also made it fit with the stone on the lower half of the house which is more demanding and they did a great job on that as well. Overall, very pleased. Dave is good to work with and does what he says. I would and have recommended him to others and I wouldn't hesitate to hire him again.

In general, it went very well. They were always very professional and very responsive to phone calls - and seemed genuinely interested in making sure the job was done right. We had three bids done for the roof and siding...and the bidding process was a bit of an education. In essence, some companies show up with very glossy brochures, driving very nice new sedans, wearing North Face jackets, and wanting to install not just a roof but a "roofing system"...and the price reflected that..as well as some effort to upsell me on some other stuff. They might do an awesome job and were friendly, but I just wanted a roof. Dave showed up in his construction truck and was more no non-sense. He provided the estimate and because we had had ice dam issues, I liked that he used the highest-end Grace Water Shield as his ice and water shield as choice...even the more expensive guys used that more selectively and charged more for it...and we also went with the Certainteed Landmark shingles. During the roofing job, his crew tore off the shingles and he came over and said the roof needed a re-deck. Uh oh. I went up on the roof and he showed me around. I don't think it had ever been re-decked, some of the wood was soft, and parts looked like it had been patched over/together with bead board and some boards had large gaps between them...so, yeah, it needed it. I wasn't thrilled but I don't think I was being deceived...and the crew was able to get on that and handle that immediately without further issue. The crew was working hard to get the job done (even my neighbors commented on it) and re-installed my TV antenna at the end of the day. Talking to them, I discovered they'd been working together on roofs for many years. In the end, I was very happy with the job they did on the roof. I would definitely recommend them for that. I'd give the roof an A. The siding job was a bit more mixed and with a different crew than the roofing one. I liked that he went with the hardiplank right away, which I like better than vinyl. And the estimate was quite competitive. But we did have to go back and forth a few times on the quality of some of the fit and finish and tolerances between the boards (gaps and straight cuts) over windows and doors, etc. They almost forgot to re-install a bathroom vent. They did end up taking care of the issues I pointed out, so that is good...but there were quite a few details (trim work angles, straightness of cuts over windows/doors, bathroom vent, large gaps, rough semi-circle cut over light fixture). This said, they did have to do some extra work to remove shingling (yes, shingles) underneath the old siding. I know that hardiplank is harder to work with in cutting, getting it up there, and that it doesn't have some of the built in ways of hiding cuts, etc. of vinyl. It ended up working out alright, but I didn't feel as good about the siding as I did the roof. I'd give the siding a B. It is possible, for a dormer this size, it just ended up being not as quite straight-forward as they expected with having to remove those shingles under the old siding and some other quirks around some trim work around electrical conduit and other oddities of the house. After all of it, they did keep to their estimated price on this part of the job. Given most of the job was the roof, I still gave the overall rating an A (above) as I don't want to knock an overall very good experience and a company that obviously works to make things right and is very responsive to calls. When I called about issues with the siding (on a Friday), they called back quickly to re-assure me that they would make sure it was done right...and just wanted to get back to me that night so I wasn't worrying about it over the weekend. They were responsive to inquiries and did take care of things when pointed out. If I had more work to be done, I'd consider them and would (and have) recommended them to others.

He arrived right at the 9:00 appointment time. He saw what was necessary, but instead of giving me a time that he'd get back to me, he got out a ladder and fixed it on the spot. He said he saw another area that looked fine from the ground but would have been a problem later, so he took care of that too. It all took perhaps ten minutes. Done well, with a smile, at a fraction of what I was prepared for what it might be. Excellent!

Working with Dave and his crew was an excellent experience from beginning to end. Dave is very hands-on. His bid was extremely good. He offers top of the line product without any hard sell. In fact, he talked us out of gutter shields with good information regarding their performance (or lack of). The crew uncovered a problem caused by our builder when the roof was orginally installed. Dave and crew offered a better way of doing this portion of the roof. In agreement, the extra materials were ordered and work progressed easily. Dave's crew has been with him for a long time and you can tell that they really know what they're doing. They were respectful of our landscaping, as tidy as one could be while ripping off a roof, and cleaned up very well after the job. We had forgotten that we had the $500 discount coupon from Angies List, but Dave took it without question on our final payment. Unlike, other contractors who just build the so called discount into the overall price. We are extremely happy with the work and the process. Would absolutely use this company again and recommend to others.

I had a great experience with D S Bahr and couldn't be happier with the work. The project involved the replacement of a large, two level cedar deck with a similar sized deck of treated wood framing and composite decking. The poor Spring weather meant the project started later in the year than I had originally hoped but Dave Bahr kept me up to date on scheduling and I had no problem with the delay. The crew arrived as scheduled and I was impressed with their courtesy and professionalism. Because the project was a remodel, a few unforeseen things did come up, but the project manager, Myles Sturlaugson, was careful to keep me informed of what needed to be done as well as the additional costs to deal with the problems. I had no problem with the entire process. I also greatly appreciated that the guys kept the work area clear of debris. Not only was the work site cleaned up at the end of the project, but the area was cleaned up each night before they left for the day! The completed deck is beautiful and a steady troop of neighbors have come over to admire it. I should also mention that this project was the second that D S Bahr has done for me as they replaced my roof last November. If something else needs to be done, I will be sure to give Dave Bahr a call. I certainly would recommend to anyone else considering exterior work.

It took a while to get them out because they were so busy, but they did a new roof with new decking and some structural repair for us. It turned out really great. They were able to complete the job in one day, and they brought a dumpster with them and cleaned up everything after completing the job. It has held up great with no leaks or issues since the work was done.

There had been damage to the roof due to a large ice dam with additional damage left by owner (me) removing the ice dam. Dave gave us a prompt, fair, and detailed bid. He got us on the schedule a couple weeks out, stayed on schedule and did great work. His crew always does quality work, never leaving a mess behind. They originally installed the roof a few years back and we were very pleased with the work. Dave has always been super courteous and professional to deal with.

I called a bunch of roofers for estimates on a patch. Almost all of them said that they would be happy to do a patch, but the cause of the issue was that the nail gun used for the shingles in question had been turned up too high and had gone through the shingles. The problem would surface elsewhere, and it would be cheaper to have the entire thing done at once. Dave Bahr's estimate was the lowest, and his company got good reviews. He was very straightforward. Not mean or rude, but all business. Don't let it throw you. They showed up on time and did good work for a good price. I will call them again when the roof on my house has to be done.

Dave Bahr came out and went over floor plans with us and estimated what various materials and layouts would cost. Once we agreed on a cedar deck, with two landings, they came out the following week and his staff submitted the plans to the city, got the required approvals, and went to work on the deck. The staff was very professional and did a nice job of cleaning up after themselves and providing answers to any questions my wife or I had during the process. The whole process was easy and now we have a beautiful deck. I'd use them again in the future.

Overall I was very happy with the process. The actual scheduling was weather dependent but the communication was good. The crew arrived a bit early but that wasn't a big deal. Cleanup was very good. The only thing we both forgot about were the satellite dishes. The crew replaced them but as expected I had to have the provider out to calibrate them so I was without TV for a couple of days. Had we thought of it ahead of time I could have prescheduled the satellite service. I would use them again and would recommend them to my friends.

I originally contact David in November, to discuss the problem. He promptly sent me a bid. I was skeptical and tried to go with someone cheaper, but it turned out they were not able to squeeze me in. In early spring Myles contacted me, and we started the process. In order to keep the cost down I wanted to paint the siding (wood siding), as the cost was getting up there. For a minimal delivery charge they were able to drop of the siding and the soffits. Russ, was kind enough to give me instructions about which side to paint, and which piece is for which application, so I could paint it appropriately. I painted it and they got to working on the project. As with any rotting wood, sometimes the issues get deeper than they seem on the surface. Myles and the crew contacted me promptly, and send me pictures via text. I asked them to try to keep the costs down, which they did their best to control. I think it cost me 500 more than the estimate, but I was sort of expecting it. The folks I dealt with Dave (owner), Myles (scheduling/super) and Russ(worker) were very professional and courteous and I would not have any issues trusting them with any future job. They did a great job! I believe if I had gone with the cheaper option, it would have cost me about the same after paint and issues that arose.

Work was professionally completed. The roof looks nice. The workers took steps to minimize disruption during the work and did a good job of cleanup afterwards. The bid price was given in the fall of 2013 but we did not receive the insurance check until it was too late to do the work. They honored the price in the spring and even added an additional gutter section at no extra charge.

They did a good job, were timely, and spent quite a bit of time to fix some issues they saw.

I had problems with ice dams this past winter, then a leak in a different area during the latest rain storm. I was worried my roof was falling apart and would need major repairs. David came out and evaluated both locations. He gave me pointers so I would not have problems in the future and said no work needed to be done. Very nice and professional! I will certainly call him again if I'm having any roofing issues.

It was fine. They did the work they're supposed to do, didn't leave a mess, didn't leave a big hole on my roof or anything, everything seemed to work fine, cleaned up afterwards, had to go through the house to bring stuff in and out because it's part of the job, and they clean and respectful of my house. I was just very happy with them. I didn't have any problems with them at all. I cannot compare them to other companies because they were recommended by the roofer and I trusted them and it turned out to be fine. I just wanted them to do a clean job and not make a mess on my attic and roof and they did that. They told me exactly when they're going to be here, came, and was done surely before they said they're going to do. I would recommend them.
