Description of Work: Replaced entire roof. David is amazing at returning phone calls immediately. Got the job started quickly (given it was Nov - we were in a rush before any snow came) and they got it done in two days. His employees were wonderful. Had trouble with the inspection the following spring, and he took care of it 100%. Our neighbors used him last fall on our recommendation and he did a great job for them as well.

They also sealed it and we had no leakage after.

Description of Work: Respected that Bahr gave me an honest assessment of my siding issues & said it would be more cost effective for me to have a handyman repair it vs. a full service construction company like himself. Seemed knowledgeable and professional. Was responsive - answered voice mail promptly, scheduled an appt within a few days. Got their name from a neighbor. Would consider using them in the future.

Description of Work: He came out for an estimate on repairing our deck and putting up a railing, which was only about half intact after tearing out our above ground pool. I really appreciated his honest answer that our deck was so old and uneven he wouldn't advise investing the money in repairing it. He quoted an amount for a new deck knowing that it would be out of our price range. I think he drove a ways to do an estimate that ultimately didn't give him any business, but he remained pleasant and even gave tips on how to put up a rail on our deck inexpensively on my own. Even thought we didn't use his services this time around, my positive experience in meeting him makes me likely to use his services in the future.

Description of Work: Dave did just as he said he would. Excellent communication and quality workmanship. His integrity was clear at our first meeting when he advised against siding our home - despite the fact that it would have been more $ in his pocket - and suggested that the wood siding on our 1911 built home was still in good shape and paint would better retain the character. He is not in the painting business but we agreed that was best. Our new roof looks great and his crew was efficient, professional and cleaned up thoroughly. I would definitely recommend D.S. Bahr and we'll look to them for future jobs.

Description of Work: This is the 3rd project and first major project for which we have used DS Bahr Construction. Dave is helpful and knowledgeable in selecting the right products and solutions for the project. We had our roof replaced, which has many peaks and valleys, flat sections, and problem areas. Workmanship was excellent, and the work was done on time and on bduget. Dave and his crew are reliable and trustworthy.

Description of Work: Dave Bahr's crew, led by Miles changed out a door from our laundry room to our garage. The old door was sticking on the floor and would not seal properly causing loss of heat during the winter, and cool air during the summer. Even though the bid did not include new molding around the door, they did a great job of reusing the existing molding even though the door frame is taller now. This same crew removed old, leaking skylights in our house and replaced them with new ones. The skylight wells were neatened up and made ready for painting. They look great and seem to be designed to better handle our snow and ice weather here in Minnesota. The installation took a little longer than anticipated due to concerns with potential thunderstorms that were forecasted for our area. They left the inside and outside of our house spotless. Well done!

Description of Work: They replaced 2 wooden pillars on our front porch.

Description of Work: The deck in question was a complicated rebuild on a very sloping terrain. Deck measures about 30 by 10 feet, made of composite with several footings and very tall posts placed because of the terrain issues. Dave came and gave the lowest bid. We had two other bids--one of the other dudes (kind of a tool in my opinion) sounded less than enthused to do a complicated build and bid the highest of all three. Needless to say, Dave got the job. Dave had to keep pushing back the start date as a result of the glut of business they had from an early summer storm. They started about 4-6 weeks after Dave told me they would--really my only complaint. Dave advocated for us with the city to get a work permit--something I was sweating that they would not grant given the deck's proximity to a creek and concern over erosion issues. That was much appreciated. Once work started, everything went smoothly. They did a great job, were efficient and were courteous on site. Dave also accommodated a last minute request to rebuild a damaged screened-in porch. We couldn't be happier with their work and I would recommend the company to anyone.

Description of Work: Dave came out to look at a leak in a bathroom ceiling. He spent about 45 minutes on the roof and in our house, and was able to determine that the leak came from a plumbing source in the ceiling, not from the roof. He referred us to a plumber, who was able to solve the problem for us (I had 3 other people look at this problem before Dave, and none of them was able to figure out what was wrong). Dave never charged me for his time. He is an incredibly honest, reliable, and friendly person. He demonstrated a great deal of integrity by spending time with me, correctly figuring out the problem, not charging me, and sending me along to the right person to do the job. When I have the need to have roofing work done in the future you can be sure I will call Dave.
