Deck was 12 X 14 and mounted onto the second floor of the house. They cleaned up everything beautifully.

The cost also involves stripping the layers. They did a good job!

Dave was prompt and thorough in preparing his estimate for a roof replacement. I appreciated the fact that he was the only contractor of 3 that I didn't have to ask for an estimate from without them seeing the insurance claim first. He actually said he didn't want to see the insurance claim until his estimate was done as that was the fair way to do it! The packet he prepared and left regarding the roof that was to be installed was put together well and Dave did not hesitate to answer all of my questions. I felt confident that this company could have done a good job on replacing my roof. The only reason I did not choose them was that I could get the exact same brand and color of roof that I currently have from another contractor.

Dave was very prompt & professional in scheduling and following-up with the bid. He seems very knowledgeable about the work. The reason I didn't hire him is that I can't afford the project yet, but he'll likely be my first call next year.

He was and his staff were very professional and worked steady. They did some extras without charging. Beautiful job!!

Dave made two visits before the work was ever begun: On his first visit he gave a detailed estimate and on his second visit several days before work began, he discussed in detail with me what exactly they intended to do. Dave addressed all my concerns. Because another roof overhang obscured part of the work area, he agreed to 'do the job right' and removed part of that roof, allowing the new membrane roof to be properly flashed against the main house--something that had never been done even when the porch had been built. The work was finished in a timely manner and the work area cleaned up thoroughly when they were finished. Dave and his workers were friendly, courteous, and very helpful explaining to me what they were doing.

Dave was VERY easy to work with and came to our home several times to bid the job and work on the design. His team of installers was very courteous and worked very hard. We couldn't be happier with the final product.

Dave gave us the estimate right away, was always prompt in returning my calls, nice and knowledgeable. The roofers were polite, hard workers and cleaned up pretty well when they were done. Fair price, loved that they have an AL discount, would definitely recommend.

Overall, D.S. Bahr Construction did a great job replacing the rubber membrane roof on my house. They use a good quality 0.06 ml rubber membrane and the job went quickly. My only complaint is that they left behind a lot of nails on the ground. Since these are roofing nails, they can easily land on the ground with the point facing upward, creating a hazard for someone stepping on them. Also, I asked them to make sure they avoided the rafters in the attic when they installed the vents. He said that they would make sure they do not overlap the rafters. Once installed, half of the vents overlapped the rafters. Although this isn't a big problem, it reduces the efficiency of the vents and it annoyed me that they ignored my request. Otherwise, the overall job was done very well and I would use them again if I had a roofing job.

Dave was very prompt to come for an estimate and left one even when I forgot about the appointment and did not get a chance to meet him. Although it took him a little longer than what he had anticipated to start the job, once he called us he was coming he was very punctual and professional. We even changed our minds about the color of the shingles at the last minute and he was glad to help and accommodate our needs. His crew was quick and efficient. Overall we are very happy with the new roof and his professionalism.

David was great to work with. Extremely responsive and easy to deal with. He surveyed the damage, delivered the estimate on the spot, and was very patient and helpful in explaining what our options were and the difference between the different grades of shingles that were available. During the process he was very helpful in helping us navigate the insurance company minefield by providing all documentation as soon as it was requested before, during and after the job was completed. The actual work was done in a very quick and efficient manner. In fact, several neighbors commented that they couldn't believe how quickly the work was completed. His employees took great care during their work to work around the various plantings by the house and leave everything in great shape. There was no leftover material or trash left at the worksite, and David himself was there cleaning up on the last day. A great experience from start to finish.

The project took longer than estimated but they are the best contractor that I have used. They swept and vacuumed every day after they were finished. Three man crew didn't get in my way for the three weeks. Very respectful to my property did extra things if I wasn't satisfied.

Dave Bahr handles all communication himself. He is very prompt at returning calls and takes the time to make sure his customer understands each step of the process and what will be done. Workmanship of his crew was excellent and they protected all shrubbery, deck, and surrounding property. Dave was on the job site each day to check progress and avail himself for questions, etc. The job was completed in two long days including cleanup. Overall, an excellent company. I will definitely hire them again.

My husband met with Dave initially. He was very impressed by Dave's professionalism and felt very confident about hiring him from the first meeting. We also got bids from three other contractors. One of the others came in with a lower bid, but we decided to go with Dave Bahr based on his feedback on Angie's List, and our initial experience with him. Scheduling: Dave delivered exactly as promised. When we decided to hire him he said he was four weeks out. At four weeks, he came to see us with roofing and gutter samples.I asked when they could start, anticipating a few more weeks. To my surprise he said we'll be here tomorrow and finish in 2 and a half days. I was still skeptical based on my sisters experiences with roofers not sticking with the job. But this crew finished right on schedule including cleaning all of the roofing debris away. Our new roof is very attractive. It just weathered two nights of intense thunderstorms. No missing shingles, no leaking skylights!!

Dave Bahr appeared punctually and gave us a thorough review of the proposed work. The work began and lasted 10 days. It was carefully and well done. A patio ornament was inadvertently damaged and they gave us a $50 certificate for its replacement when they could not find a duplicate. They were upfront about this and volunteered about the damage before I saw it.

David Bahr did a deck project for us last year. We are very satisfied with that job and called him regarding our roofing project. He and his crew did a great job. They took the time and made the effort to make sure our gardens were not damaged. David Bahr is polite, professional, prompt and reasonably priced.

Excellent workers, they did good work, good clean-up. The were prompt and courteous and David Bahr is a pleasure to do business with. This company is reasonably priced as well.

David came right over and fixed my out-of-place shingle in about twenty minutes. I really appreciated it as I was going out of town the very next day and we were expecting a lot more rain! I was impressed with the quick service and price.

Dave insisted I replace a rear gutter that I had no plans to replace and was reluctant to omit it from the bid. He did not seem interested in the my wants or opinion and I felt his approach forebode future problems if there was anything on the job I didn't like. Had he omitted the rear gutter and therefore had a lower bid, he might have won the job.

Dave provided the bid and arrived on time. His was the least expensive of our three bids and we chose him not because of price but because we felt he was not trying to sell us a product or more work than was needed. His estimate included a best case (no need to replace decking) and worse case (new decking) range. We needed new decking and he came in slightly under bid. The team was great and worked very hard. They were an experienced team rather than simple day labor, which was key for our Queen Anne style roof (i.e., many contours). They protected the flower beds, cleaned up, and worked extra hours to beat forecast rain. They were also kind enough to replace our TV antenna each night, a nice thoughtful gesture.

The previous owner of my 1920's bungalow had a complete tear off done in Sept 2004. The roof over my sunroom began leaking a few months ago, so I tried to contact the company that had done the roofing in 2004 (Top Line Construction and Roofing out of Bloomington), but their phone numbers were no longer in service. Long story short, they d had their license suspended for two years in Sept 2005. I panicked thinking that they d done such a poor job on my roof that it was already leaking! Dave also assessed the work that had been done in Sept 2004 by Top Line, and he reassured me that, while it was not what he would call a quality job, nor was it done in the way he would have done it, with more attention to detail and quality, it still should be okay for a good while yet. That took a huge load off my mind. PS: This is an example of why I love Angie s List: It's so worth the annual fee. I wish the previous owner of my home had used Angie s List to find a roofer!

Everything went exactly how Dave described it would go. He showed up on time for everything (estimate, second visit when we selected the shingles, and the when they did the work). All of his workers were polite and professional during the job, and when they were done they actually did a good job picking up after themselves including running a magnet over the entire yard. I would highly recommend DS Bahr and would use them again without hesitation.

Nothing but professional. Dave is prompt returning calls and will meet with you personally. We received our bid within a week of first contact and it ended up being the lowest bid. Between the price and the Angie's List ratings and Dave's great customer service we went with his company. The work was scheduled one month from when we accepted the bid and once the work started was finished completely in one and a half days. Our roof is steep and full of valleys and changes...not an easy roof. The crew cleaned everything up, and also cleaned as they went. They took pictures for us of the roof and damage that was there and gave them to us when they finished. We met again with Dave and had a great meeting. I highly recommend this company. They were professional and fast and reasonably priced with and excellent result - our roof looks fantastic.
