DS Bahr provided an accurate diagnosis and was timely and professional in their service. I would recommend this company and will use them for any future roofing needs.

All aspects, from estimate to finish of work were efficiently and professionally performed. Mr. Bahr was courteous, prompt, and informative, making my decision-making easy. The work was begun on the hottest day of the year, and the sun was melting tars in the old underlayment by late afternoon, making it impossible to remove the old nails where the direct sunlight hit the roof until it was again shaded and cooled. So the extreme heat limited the speed of work, but the experienced crew took it in stride and concluded the first day with the roof ready for shingling the next morning. The work was then completed by an expanded crew of eight in two and a half hours. They were a very good crew with excellent leadership who performed efficiently and courteously.

Overall, they did a good job. They started and finished the job in 1 1/2 days. The composite railing, even though more expensive, looks nice. The nuances were that the crew didn't clean up as well as expected (e.g. they left cigarette butts and screws on the ground). I also believe that the workmanship wasn't as good as it should have been (e.g. the joints where 2 pieces come together had too big of a gap).

Excellent. Estimate was done as scheduled in a timely manner and the work was done quickly and efficiently. In spite of the huge amount of old shingles and very hot weather the crew did a great job of staying on time and keeping the area clean. I also wanted some additional information and documentation so that I could apply for a tax credit for using energy efficient shingles and Dave went out of his way to be sure I had the additional billing information I would need to apply. Great job all around.

Excellent experience but chose another roofing contractor. Contractor we selected was personally recommended, had excellent references, offered a discount. We interviewed approximately 8 roofing contractors. The price was almost identical for all of them.

I contacted Dave at Bahr Construction for a second opinion in an insurance dispute on the need for replacement of redwood siding damaged by hail from a claim nearly 2 years old. Mr. Bahr gave me a very timely estimate after searching until he found the correct size of redwood for replacement and provided the estimate under a time constraint with the insurance company whom finally agreed to replace the siding. The redwood was ordered and replaced within 6 weeks. I went with his bid after other contractors just said that redwood wasn't available and didn't even try. I also investigated the cost of the siding and found his charges were fair. He also replaced other none insurance covered siding for me at a very reasonable rate. His workers were respectful, competent and cleaned up the area, and I have yet to find a stray nail left behind. When my painter/stainer was unable to adequately cover the paintable caulk used by Bahr, the construction company came back within a week of the completion of the staining and re-caulked the whole project in a matching color...all at their own expense. Dave Bahr handled the whole job without fuss, including the building permit and inspection, was always available by cell phone to me and monitored the project closely. After a two year ordeal with my insurance company and other contractors, it was an amazingly easy 8 weeks of construction from the special order of the redwood to the final re-caukling. I am happy with the beautiful job done as well as the professionalism of this contractor. When I was initially checking on the price, availability of the redwood, etc., the lumber yard, that Bahr Construction uses perhaps primarily, was very complimentary of Dave Bahr and his ethics and reported that they have not had any worries about him paying his bills, and that they would not be putting a lean on my property. I would highly recommend D.S. Bahr to anyone.

First the crew replaced the roof. They were there on time and cleaned up after. It looks great. The deck was replaced second and it not only looks great we actually use it because it is so great. I have recommended DS Bahr to others.

They did a good job and I was pleased with the work. They were prompt, professional, and courteous. They cleaned up well and made sure all the nails were picked up with large magnets. I would use them again if needed.

Went very well. Very efficient and hard-working crew. They got the house done in one day, working hard to finish up before rains moved in that night. Garage was done in just over a half-day. Did a great job of cleaning up the premises.. The new roof looks great! Our dealings with Dave Bahr were very good. Prompt responses given to all of our questions/concerns. We would definitely recommend this company to others for their roofing needs.

Overall, the job went well and result was much better than expected. The solution they suggested was much less than other contractors. The were clean and job was completed on schedule. Follow-up was quick and thorough. Would definitely use again and will recommend to others

The D S Bahr team was an absolute joy to work with. Dave originally came out and gave us a quote for a new cedar deck to replace our horrible paver patio. He was always punctual (if not early) on every occasion. In the original quote, I had him add a line for removing the paver patio, but I decided that I was going to remove the blocks myself. Much to our suprise, he said that he could start a few weeks early, and didn't charge us extra for his guys to remove the remaining blocks while I was at work. They built the deck, and even used some of the original pavers to create a nice landing for the stairs, which his team totally didn't have to do, but we were very happy he did. When the deck was done, it looks absolutely beautiful. The whole project from signing paperwork to the final city inspection only took a week. I am 110% satisfied with their work, and their attention to detail was incredible.

David came out to my house the day following my call requesting an estimate. He was very professional explaining the differences between cedar wood and compressed material. He was able to schedule his crew to come out the next week to complete the work. Myles - his site supervisor - and the carpenters did a very professional job. The deck and the surrounding fences turned out extremely well. I am very pleased with how they turned out. I added on the job of building the 2 benches after the rest of the work was completed, The two brothers who built these benches did a very nice job on these also - completing them on the weekend at their home. All the guys who I met and talked to were very pleasant and great to meet. I would definitely recommend DS Bahr to anyone who would like a quality job done.

It turned out great! It looks far better than it looked before. They redesigned it a little bit. I wasn't sure if I would like it, but I really do. And it's a heck of a lot sturdier!

Contacted Dave on a Thursday regarding replacement of our roof. He was out on Friday morning. Signed contract on Friday. Monday morning before 7 AM had dumpster delivered. Before 8:30 AM shingles were delivered. Crew started the work at 9 AM Monday. Roofing completely replaced and all areas cleaned up by Tuesday at 2 PM. We expected this to take more time to complete. We would highly recommend D.S. Bahr Construction to everyone. Dave is very professional. He answered any questions we had. Very hard working crew. We are very impressed with D.S. Bahr Construction and will contact him in the future for any project we need to do at our home.

Really appreciate the willingness to come out on a pre-purchase inspection when they might not ever get the job if we did not buy the house. Estimate was detailed and easily understood. Impressed with the service.

I found this company on Angie's list, after getting quotes from several others. They were wonderful to deal with and lived up to their "A" rating. Dave is the owner, and as he said, his name is on the company, so he'd better do it right. He was incredibly responsive, and his crews were competent and trustworthy. My house was damaged by the hailstorm in 2008. I needed a new roof and siding, and knew nothing about either of them. Dave came out and gave me an estimate for those things, and spent a lot of time with me, answering questions about the siding/roof and about other work I was thinking of having done. When he didn't know something or it wasn't his expertise, he acknowledged that, but gave me his opinion. I asked him to break out his estimate so I could compare it to other companies, and also asked for an estimate for replacing most of my windows. I ended up choosing him to do all three things, plus a few other minor repairs. His estimates were in line with the insurance company's estimates, and were consistent with or cheaper than other company's estimates (and several of those companies don't have Angie's List ratings as good as D S Bahr's). I got the Angie's List discount. The jobs were done individually, and I anticipated them starting in mid-December, but they didn't start until February. I was told that was because of weather and because they don't hire additional subs to do the work; the crews have been with him for a while. Dave was good at communicating about the delays. I also wasn't in a huge hurry. The work was done well. There were a few minor issues - I came home on a Friday to find that my porch windows were down and it was completely open to the elements (snow) and the crews were going to leave it like that with furniture, etc. just sitting there. I was confused because there was no siding needed on the porch and those windows weren't supposed to be replaced. I brought all the furniture in from the porch and called Dave - he apologized for the crew leaving it that way and explained that he wanted to wrap the window frames with metal sheeting which would protect it, just as they were doing everywhere else on the home (while it was an inconvenience, I thought this was very thorough, and I was grateful - one less thing to worry about later). The crew made a point of apologizing on Monday. Several months after they finished, there was a small leak from a small gap between the siding and the door frame, and Dave had someone come back out to fix it. My biggest complaint was that the windows that I ordered are difficult to open. They are Marvin double-hung wood tilt-pac windows that require you to press the frame towards the wall to pop the windows out towards you (mostly when you want to clean them). On most of the windows, I couldn't press hard enough to get the windows to tilt out. Dave came by to finalize the paperwork and he couldn't get some of them open either, so he sent me a window spreader that works pretty well, but it is still difficult. I wouldn't say that it's the fault of D S Bahr, but it is a product they promote. There were several really nice touches. Dave stopped by to look around after the snow was gone and sent a crew back to do more clean up. His crew thoughtfully marked the siding so the gas company knew right where to cut a hole (as a result, the gas company only spent 15 minutes here versus the 2 hours they thought they'd have to spend). I bought a new back door and Dave installed it for free. Overall, I don't think I could have asked for a better experience. I was pretty clueless about the whole thing and asked a lot of questions. Dave was always super responsive, really candid and just an all-around decent guy to deal with. The paperwork was detailed and he walked me through everything so I understood it, and he also sent extra copies so I could apply for tax credits. D S Bahr is the type of company that you not only want to do your work, but that you want to support. I have already recommended them to other people.

We had a minor emergency, with water leaking in our kitchen, causing some electrical outlets to short out, popping and sparking. We figured out that ice dam formation was the problem. Within 24 hours of calling Dave Bahr he was out giving an estimate, and the following day he was personally here with an assistant to clear snow and ice dams off our roof. He was prompt, honest, and very helpful -- and most importantly he solved our problem. The work was expensive, but I think very reasonably priced given the high risk -- I certainly wouldn't be willing to get up on a steep roof covered in ice and snow on a cold January day. I hope to avoid ice dams in the future (Dave gave me recommendations on how to do this) but if it occurs again I wouldn't hesitate to call Dave again.

Met with Dave in mid October and after getting estimates from two other companies, decided to go with him to do the work. He seemed honest, knowledgeable about the business, and offered a good price. Dave told me that he couldn't start for 4 or 5 weeks, which seemed fine considering the balming weather we were having at the time. I did ask about snowy weather and Dave assured me that they could work all year round. I met with Dave a few days before the work was to start to select the single type and color. Unfortunately, the day the tearoff was to begin we had a snow storm, so things got started a couple of days late and working conditions were not the best. A few days into the project it snowed again. Dave kept in contact throughout and let me know what was happening. The workman did an excellent job of clearing the snow and going about the job that needed to be done dispite the cold, snowy weather. They did a good job cleaning up and the roofs look great! I'd definitely use this company again.

Working with Dave was a positive experience. He's all business and he won't waste your time. He also had good answers to all our questions and he really guides you through the whole process. His crew worked so hard I got tired watching them. They seemed very efficient and did a really good job of cleaning up at the end. I didn't rate the price of the project because I don't really know. I do know that it seemed reasonable and I feel I received very good value for the cost. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend D.S. Bahr for any roofing projects you might have.

We wanted to finally construct a deck off our kitchen. Had 3 very well respected companies come and quote out a deck. My main concern was to use as much TimberTech as possible so I would not have to ever stain. David's price was in line with the others but his detail in quoting and how he laid out exactly what he planned to do made the difference. He also was putting much more into the deck than the others (double beams, deeper holes in the ground for better support, thicker wood support, etc..) The coupon from this site also helped. The service was outstanding. They started on time, were professional, respectful, kept us up to date as we progressed, and answered all of our questions. Every time I called Dave or Miles with a question, they called me right back with an answer. Even on a Saturday! They even did extra small things and did not charge extra. I could not have asked for a better experience with a builder and am impressed with how beautiful the deck looks. I got more than I paid for and I cannot recomend them enough. My experience with them was excellent! Now if we can get through this winter fast so I can actually enjoy it :)

They were very clean. They removed most of the debris from the job. They even went around the house with a magnet to collect loose nails. When I mentioned Angie's List, he reduced the price by $500.00. He also advised us on an insulation situation.

This company was great. They came out and gave an estimate and were very knowledgable. We noticed leaking around a sky light and thought it was a problem with the roof. They told us that it was a faulty skylight and not the roof. They came out a couple of weeks later to measure the skylight and then it took another 3 weeks for the skylight to come in. They came out to install the new light and managed to do it even though it was snowing! They put down clothes to protect the floor and deck and did a nice job with the clean up. The finished job looks great and no more leaking! They also sent a very nice letter before the project detailing what would be done and then another letter afterward thanking us for the business. The letters were a really nice touch and really made us feel appreciated. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

My experience with them was good. They did a super job, and did it well without leaving a lot of mess. The work was done at real low cost. The quality of work was good. I would rate them highly and would use them again.
