It turned out great. He offered the most competitive bid and the work was fine. They did leave some nails, but when I called, they sent someone right back out to clean it up.

Dave came out and gave an estimate within a couple of days. He promptly responded to all my questions and concerns. His crews were professional,courteous, and punctual even under adverse weather conditions. All work was done on time with quality workmanship. Both Dave and his crew maintained excellent communication with me during the entire project. As with any remodeling project, there were some surprises/problems that came up but Dave and his crew always found good solutions. The work site was cleaned up each night and construction debris promptly removed. Thanks to DS Bahr, we now have a strong, solid, great looking deck.

Whereas two other contractors quoted me at $1550--$2000 to fix, he told me that while he'd be happy to get the business - there isn't really work to be done. He explained what I needed to do to take preventative measures to avoid anything happening in the future and assured me there were no roof integrity issues. Having moved here from Los Angeles and not knowing much about ice dams, I would say that it was refreshing to deal with him. He sensibly let me know that they specialize in outdoor construction and to please keep him in mind if we ever want to do some exterior construction or build a patio. Obviously, he'd be the first person I would call for that kind of work. This to me is what is so powerful about Angie's List, to share these kind of stories and enable businesses that do things the right way, for the right reasons to have the opportunity to experience competitive advantage simply through our feedback. Though these guys did no work at my house, they would be first on the list of construction companies I would call.

It went great. When you wait a year to submit a review for a roofing job you really know that it Works. No leaks!. We had initially thought about using composite tiles and Dave gave us a bid on that. We then realized that we could afford that for the house but then we wouldn't be able to rebuild the garage. We called him back to rebid with asphalt. He promptly sent us another bid for asphalt tile. Once we agreed he gave a time range for completion. Called us to schedule and work was completed within a day. Good clean up. Polite crew. Definitely would use again..

The old roof was removed quickly and professionally and the new roof installed, with minimal residual material left on our property. (I persuaded the work crew to share a pizza with me on the work day and enjoyed their company.) New gutters and gutter shield were added the next day. At the contractor's suggestion we bought the less expensive version of the gutter shield, which has worked fine. After the huge wind storm in Highland Park, St. Paul (June 21, 2013), there was very little debris on the shield. Not only was the roof fine, the gutters carried away the torrential rains far from the edge of our house. I would definitely give this company a high rating.

We asked three contractors with great reputations on Angie's List for quotes, and DS Bahr was the most detailed and thorough in their initial inspection and subsequent quoting of the work needed. They also offered suggestions on additional work that we could do ourselves to prevent future ice dam and drainage issues, which was appreciated and is being acted upon. We opted for a new custom slider from Marvin Windows and the installation was modified to fit the look of our room with a substantial header that matched the style, as well as additional insulation to correct mistakes made by the initial door installers long ago. The siding crew did a great job and I've only found two nails dropped - cleanup was very good. And only one plant in a crowded planting bed showed signs of a footprint, which is considerably better than I had expected. Dave Bahr personally checked on the job often and the installers were not hired just for the job, but were part of the company.We've received lots of compliments from our neighbors on how the new siding has improved the look of our house and are very pleased with the outcome.

I contacted DS Bahr Construction along with several other contractors and got quotes on the project to replace our old roof. As a former engineer, I have high standards when it comes to major work on my home. I can't say enough about the service we received during the selling and installation process. Prompt, accurate, and courteous responses. It was outstanding. The owner, Dave Bahr, has a long history in the Twin Cities market. His crews have been with him for over 10 years, so they are trustworthy, reliable and skilled. Dave was very upfront and consultative during the selling and planning process. He outlined what they were going to do in detail, and did not cut corners in either the bid or the installation. I was surprised to see the variability in roof installation when I compared our finished product to that of many neighborhood houses. Dave made sure that the "accessories" were appropriately color matched and installed. Also, as a great testimonial, the city inspector who came out after the job commented with some surprise about how very well done the ice and water shield installation was. Dave was great throughout the process including working with us on the timing and even speaking to me from London when I was on a business trip! The confidence from my initial meeting was rewarded. I have since directly referred Dave to two friends, and in each case they selected DS Bahr for the work. Thanks again, Dave!

I purchased an Angie's List Big Deal special offer for this service. Based on their recommendation we later had the house re-roofed. Their fix was just a patchwork thing; they told us it was and I knew it was, but what they did was fine. The helped us patch the roof to keep water out of the house until we got a new roof. The took the time to make sure what they were telling me was right. I have no complaints about them at all.

We were provided a thorough detailed proposal ahead of time. Work was started when promised and completed in a timely manner. Clean up afterward was very good. We were very happy with their work and would not hesitate to use them atain.

It went very well. Dave was very willing to work around my schedule in setting up meetings, and he explained each step of the process and answered all my newbie questions. The work was completed sooner than I expected, given the number of homes damaged in the storm. I did find quite a few roofing nails on the ground, so I think perhaps things weren't completely cleaned up. However, it wasn't enough of a problem that I followed up with them. Based on the experience I would definitely work with them again.

Fantastic from every aspect. Dave Bahr was punctual, professional and definitely knew his stuff. He provided a thorough and complete quote the day after looking at the job. I got four quotes for the job -- two other highly rated companies from Angie's List and another from a contractor I've enjoyed worked with in the past. DS Bahr was the lowest and easiest to understand. When the job started, Miles and his crew were always on time, worked fast and cleaned up at the end of everyday. On site, Miles figured out a better layout for the design and took the initiative to implement the changes. The result was a more compact design that cost less and worked better in the space. The stairs look fantastic -- so much better than I expected or hoped for. Did I mention it was completed for LESS than the quote! I could not be happier.

He left an itemized quote and product information to assist us in our decision-making. We were informed of a 4 week lead-time. His crew was courteous and hard-working. The reroof of our house and garage was completed within 2-3 days. The clean up was adequate. Dave revisited our home after the work was completed. We are 100% satisfied with DS Bahr Construction!

initially purchased a repair package as an "Angie's Deal," but learned that our roof had been installed improperly and required replacement. Dave's explanation of our roof's situation versus correct installation was clear, logical, sensible -- we appreciated his candor and honesty, and hired him to do the full replacement. He was present for most or possibly even all of the install, it went well, no complaints at all. Our roof leaks have stopped entirely. We didn't do much price-comparison shopping, so I can't speak to that.

Overall it went well. The owner responded quickly with a price quote and was very workable on setting up a day to do the roof. The garbage bin was delivered the day before and hindsight we should have moved our household garbage can out in front as the bin filled up the entire driveway entrance and we missed our household garbage haul that week because we couldn't get the garbage can around the garbage bin. The work on the roof was done quickly and it looked like no issues. Though I would have like to have know that they were going to cut some of the branches off my cedar tree. I understood that the branches might have been in the way, it would have been nice to be informed about it. I would like to have been able to take some of the green branches because I could have used them for some other craft items, instead they were all thrown away. Trash was picked up and thrown into the bin. The door frame provided more of a challenge. When it was done the lock and door knob were put on in reverse order. When the owner came our for the inspection check, he took a look - even though he understood why the worker did what he did, he agreed that it needed to be corrected. He had the guy come back that night and fix the doorknob and lock. The worker, because he was by himself and not with the crew..stopped by the house to let me know he was there and working on it. He fixed it and everything seems to be working fine. The owner listen to my questions and took the time to look and explain the details. Overall, a nice job.

It was worth the money. They replaced a shingle that had been taken out by a branch. We had been getting water inflow through the broken shingle and their repair fixed it.

The owner, Dave came to give us an estimate and he was a very likeable person. No high pressure. He always checked in with us everyday to make sure all went well.

Very well, when it looked like rain after the first day, they stayed as late a light allowed to get done with the key areas of the roof. We liked the job so much that we recommended them to our son and his wife when they had storm damage. They ended up doing that job too. Great value for the amount charged.

Dave responded quickly to our phone calls and was very specific about how the work would be completed. His crew did a great job and was professional all the way. Cleanup was well done. Dave also replaced a leaking, small flat roof (over our screened porch) with a rubber roof almost 5 years ago with which we are pleased.
