+ -1 moreAndy, the owner of Allen Construction, was very personable, timely, and professional during the process of providing an estimate for replacing our roof. We did experience a significant delay from the time the estimate was provided to the start date of the work, but Andy explained the delay was due to unforeseen events (i.e. health concerns, death of family members) experienced by members of the construction team. Because the project was being completed more for aesthetic reasons than due to leaks, etc. and because Allen Construction came so highly recommended, we waited patiently for the job to be started. We are so glad we did! The crew members who worked on our house were highly competent and extremely professional. They worked efficiently, were respectful of our property, and did a marvelous job ensuring all materials were picked up and the lawn decor they moved was placed back in the original location. Also, the cost of the project was much lower than other "bigger" named roofing companies in the area, yet we did not need to sacrifice quality for the lower price. Allen Construction did such a fantastic job that we now have a list of additional projects we plan to ask them to complete!
Description of Work: Allen Construction replaced our roof with new shingles as well as soffits and fascia.

Description of Work: We have worked with Andy and his crew on several projects. Our first was a roofing issue that he fixed immediately and we have never had an issue since. We most recently hired A. Allen to finish our lower level. From the initial consult to the end product we have been very satisfied. When questions arose or when I wanted to make some changes Andy and his crew was ready to respond and exceed my expectations. When issues that we weren't aware of popped up we worked together on finding the right solution to ensure the problem would be fixed the correct way. I have the utmost confidence in Andy and his crew and they will always be my first and only choice in contractors. They show up when they tell you they will, they always clean up and they are upfront on what the cost will be. If I were to ever build , Andy would be the person I would trust with my project. He has the integrity in his work and business that is almost impossible to find these days. Andy has also worked with us on a kitchen project and various other projects. When working on a do it yourself project an issue popped up for us. Andy took my call on a Saturday while out with his family, came over to look at the problem and got the problem fixed immediately so we could continue with the project we were working on. In addition, he sends crews you can trust and you feel comfortable having in your home.

+ -1 moreWe contacted Andy Allen in the summer of 2014. We contacted a number of roofers for bids, ranging from $7000 to $20000. Andy had the most competitive bid and he came across very friendly and explained things very well. A Allen Construction had a good reputation on this site and the BBB site. We incurred some time and material costs which we know going in that would be the case. We would very much use A Allen Construction again for any other construction projects in the future. His crew were very polite and responsive to our concerns. GREAT OUTFIT!!!!!

Description of Work: I had A ALLEN CONSTRUCTION of Caledonia put new roofs on a house and a 4 flat rental property. These roofs were damaged in a storm and Mr. Allen Personally interfaced with the insurance company for me to let them know what damage had been done. He also suggested the color of the shingles that would look the best on my 4 flat. His crew was very hard working as well as thorough. If I had any questions Mr. Allen Answered them regarding the Shingles, quality, and warranty. A Allen was recommended to me by another property owner. His Price was excellent and he did not cut corners to give me the best deal. I would recommend him to anyone who is looking to do either residential or commercial replacement or repairs in Wisconsin and Minnesota.

+ -1 moreWork took only 2 days from start to finish. No problems with work performed and cleanup was very good.
Description of Work: Removed all shingles, felt, roof vents, all roofing nails and fasteners, and valley tin. Inspect entire roof for any areas of concern, or decay. Install 3 feet of Ice Barrier on all eves. Installation of 20” galvanized valley metal in all valleys. Apply 15# tar paper over the rest of the roof. Replace all soil pipe flashings with new IPS flashing collars. Apply “Tamko 30 year architectural shingles- Algae Resistant” to entire roof. Installation of continuous ridgeline ventilation systems to all ridgelines. Apply shingle color coded ridge cap. Clean and inspect all gutter systems and downspouts. Magnet sweep perimeter of entire site for any nails, staples, fasteners resulting from roof replacement. Finally prep/clean entire area for any and all debris from roof replacement.

They were able to turn around a full roofing job within 24 hours and took the time to rake/sweep up any left over debris, run the lawn with a roller magnet to pick up any loose nails. Bottom line, they showed up when they said they would, worked hard, worked well, and they did a fantastic job.
Description of Work: I had a complete roof removal and replacement. Shingles were ripped down to bare roof. New paper and shingles were laid down. Additionally, ridge-venting was cut in, and turban style vents were replaced with box/brick vents. Services included full waste removal and cleanup as well as arraging all materials and labor.

+ 0 moreThe work performed was absolutely phenomenal. The whole roof job for our 1100 ft home was done in about 7 hours! It was done very well, with great consideration for the eaves troughs etc... I inspected the roof after they left and found no flaws, no shortcuts, and no collateral damage. In short, the work was perfect. In addition, his pricing was 20-50% lower than the other bids for the same job. The downside to using Allen Construction is that Andy is hard to get in touch with. I played lots of phone tag with him and he wasn't very good at promptly returning calls. However, if your schedule allows you to be a little flexible, it is worth the hassle to get Andy to the job! He does general contracting as well as roofing.
Description of Work: Removal/disposal of old shingles and installation of new shingles for whole house.
