Absolute Garbage Service! Where do I even begin with WM Waste Management. This has been an endless nightmare dealing with their incompetence and terrible customer service. Ever since the pandemic started, they have been utterly incapable of sticking to their pickup schedule. Every single week it's the same story - get a notification that pickup is delayed until tomorrow. Then another one the next day saying it will be the following day instead. This idiotic runaround happens over and over with no actual service happening. My trash, recycling, and garden waste piles up for a couple of weeks before a truck finally shows up. I'm paying an arm and a leg for this miserable service too. Their prices are already ridiculously high and they have the audacity to raise rates every year like clockwork. I've lived in this neighborhood for almost 10 years and honestly can't recall a time when the trash company was this unreliable and poorly managed. I am not sure who is running their operations but someone needs to get dumped. I'm at my wit's end here. I've never experienced such an incompetent, disorganized company in my life. Please do yourself a favor and avoid this dumpster fire at all costs! Check the reviews, you will not find a good rating for this company on any social media platform.

I was a WM customer for a while, they missed pickups, most of the time they come 1 day later and yard waste even later. 1 time they missed a pick up, when I called to have them come back to get it the driver threw the canister on it's side and in the middle of my driveway, stay clear of this company. Our account with a local company was transferred to Waste Management a few years ago. The service they provided was fine. However, when we decided we wanted to work with a local company again, cancelling service with WM was horrible! One day, I waited on hold for 25 minutes to leave a message with one of their representatives. When I didn't receive a call back, I waited for 39 minutes to speak with another WM representative. That person told me that I couldn't cancel by phone, needed to send in a letter of cancelation, and then would pay for another month-and-a-half of service to cancel! It seems they require one month to consider an account but will only close it when a new month starts. We have never received any materials from the company noting their cancellation requirements, so this was a nasty shock to us.

I have been using WM (Waste Management) for 2+ years in Apple Valley, MN. Used to be very complicated schedule for each pickup, and they finally started picking up all garbage, recycling, and yard waste on the same day. However, the pick up times are spread all over the day, and I have had to open tickets multiple times because they would pick one thing up and not the other. Also broke/bent the wheels on my yard waste container two weeks ago. Very unprofessional service! As if that wasn't enough, they just sent me a new bill in June 2018 for ~$425 for the next 12 month pickup! Looking for another waste management company on Angies List, right now.

My garbage company of over 10 years got bought out by WM, I miss the little guy. WM is too big and just doesn't care. They always take 2-3 days to pick up my yard waste, it is never picked up on the same day as my garbage. SO frustrating to have to leave my can at the end of the driveway for half the week!!! I will be switching companies and I would have never chosen WM on my own.

Terrible service. Had another provider who, unfortunately, sold our route to Waste Management. Having heard of their reputation would never have selected them. I have to call for pick up more often than not. Somehow, the neighbor who lives 30 feet away across the street gets their trash picked up promptly every week, but they just can’t seem to figure out how to either cross the street and empty my trash or how to go around the block. I’m not a new customer and they just can’t seem to spot that big green container that has their name on it. Have had so many apologies and promises of call backs from managers or driver supervisors-never a call back. And it’s 50/50 if they’ll actually send someone back to pick up. Don’t waste your time or money unless you enjoy weekly frustration. Sadly, they’re buying out so many little companies. And our city is going to take over trash collection this year and so afraid this is who will get my neighborhood.

I had service with Garbage Man and they were purchased by Waste Management. My service was transferred to Waste Management. I have put my garbage out for pickup on the correct day and time and it has been sitting on the curb for 2 weeks with no pick up! I have been calling and emailing Waste Management for 2 weeks to try and get my garbage picked up. The service rep I speak to says the driver is saying that the can is not out! I have gone over the address with them and they refuse to send a truck to pick up my garbage! I'm at a loss because I've paid for service and the company will not pick up the trash. Not sure what to do except look for another hauler and warn the rest of you not to do business with this company.. They take your money and do not provide a service.

Not good! I set up service with GarbageMan as it's a locally owned company. I found out AFTER I had already signed up that they had just been purchased by Waste Management. I prepaid for a quarter and set out my trash and recycling for pick up on my designated day/time. I noticed at 1:00 PM that my trash was still sitting there but all of my neighbors had been picked up. I called to ask about the status of the route. The rep told me that she could see that they were still scheduled to come out but the truck hadn't made it to my street yet. Yes, they never arrived. I called the next morning to report it and get help with a pickup. The rep acted as if this is an everyday occurrence. He said he would schedule me for a callback and they would be here within 24-48 hours. When I mentioned all of my neighbors had been picked up, he said that the truck hadn't made it to my street and the neighbors across the street must have pulled in their bins and are just going to wait until next week. That seemed totally crazy to me. Missed service is a regular thing and customers just shrug it off and say "oh well"? My water and electricity service isn't intermittent; my waste service be shouldn't either. So this is the third day that I've called to get a pick-up. My trash has blown all over and I've had to clean it up several times. My neighbors must be wondering why all of the trash is just sitting there. After letting them know I would cancel my service if the pick up wasn't made within 24 hours, they didn't respond. Obviously, they don't care about keeping a customer. When I canceled today, the rep seemed surprised. This level of service just isn't acceptable.

Our cost went up, and it took repeated phone calls over several weeks to get our regular garbage picked up - even though the recycle bin was always emptied on the correct pickup day. Since then, the pickups for both are usually done on the correct day, but pickup times are inconsistent: varying from early morning to late afternoon. Our old bins had started to wear out, with animals chewing grooves in (& through) the lids, and some of the plastic hinge pins falling out & being lost over time. We decided to wait for replacement until our new hauler would swap them out - but all they did was cover the old hauler name with an adhesive plastic WM overlay. When called, the rep said that he was our bins would NOT be replaced in the foreseeable future. The best I can say is that for now, I've learned to live with the lower quality service I've come to expect. I SO want to be able to choose my own hauler! I will definitely remember this fiasco at future city elections.

Frequently missed pickup on Fridays. Offices closed on weekends, so earliest recovery pickup is Tuesday, which has also been missed three of four times. Customer service reps always friendly and apologetic, but unable to permanently resolve problems. Looking for another carrier.

I have been a loyal customer for 10 years. I moved to a new house. They screwed up the dates and accounts and charged me wrong, picked up my bins on the wrong date, dropped off my bins on the wrong date and charged me late fees, and every time I called I got a different person who could give a rats' **** about why I was calling. I had all my bills on auto pay. I was never late. They picked up buns at my new house and cancelled my account for "bad pay". After 10 years!!! Now they want to charge me for removing the bins, when I didn't want to cancel service anyway - they could have gotten another 10 years off of me. When I explained all this to customer service they just said "Sorry to see you go, by the way, you owe 68.00 for the bins we picked up. NEVER GIVING MY HARD EARNED MONEY TO THEM AGAIN!!!

We've been waste management customers for 15+ years. We've always been happy with the service, they picked up on time. We recently switched to a local provider that offered a reduced price and we like to utilize locally owned services. Once notified in writing of our choice to terminate services, Waste Management sent a very direct letter offering us 3 options of how to proceed. Apparently although our most recent contract just expired, the fine print notified us of a "renewal term" clause that automatically renewed our service for an additional 12 months. We needed to notify them at least 3 months but not more than 18 months of our decision to not renew our agreement. Yes, I should have read the fine print but in my book, this is not an honorable way to conduct business. I called Waste Management and was told that either I continue with their company for the next 11 months or I needed to pay a liquidated damage fee. Again, not the way to treat a customer of 15+ years. I will never recommend Waste Management to anyone after this transaction.

Service was dependable until I sold the house last fall and cancelled. They didn't pick up the barrels as promised. The new owner called, and they still didn't pick up the barrels. Two months later I got a bill for over $200 for the barrels. I tracked down the new owner, and he called WM again, now February, and they did pick up the barrels. I got a bill for $16.67 for overdue charges on the barrels from the winter. I was mad, but paid it 3/4/14 to make them go away. Received a bill later in March for $238.50. Called and they said they could take off those charges except for trip charges of $60 twice for picking up barrels. I disputed this, and they said they were willing to reduce it to $30. I told them to send the new bill, and I will dispute it again. I own multiple properties, and have used them over the years at all of them in different capacities. NEVER AGAIN!

We never had any problems with service but found a carrier that offered better service at a significantly lower cost. When I called to cancel, Waste Management offered to lower my cost close to what I was switching to but I felt like if I had been valued for years of service with them, my costs would not have increased so much in the first place. I have been a customer of Waste Management for at least 10 years and have periodically had minor problems with their service. Until recently, whenever I called, I would talk to a local service representative who would efficiently handle my problem. Unfortunately this company has changed. Last week, their garbage truck forgot to pick up my trash and, when I called to report the problem, I discovered that I was talking to someone in another state. But I was assured that the route manager would be contacted and that my garbage would be picked up during the following day. That never happened. Instead I got an email telling me that they wouldn?t be able to pick up my garbage until the NEXT day. Same result. Eventually, I gave up and waited for my normal weekly pickup with an overflowing garbage can. Very discouraged, I decided to find another collection service and recently contracted with ACE Solid Waste. I will only be paying half of what I was being charged by Waste Management and their customer Service people are located in my home state in a nearby city. And then when I called Waste Management to cancel my service, I was rudely told that they don?t refund any prepaid fees. They also told me that they would pick up their container ?within 10 days. Just leave it in your yard for us.? This violates a city ordinance and makes me eligible for a fine. They can keep my prepaid fee. If I get fined for violating my city?s ordinance, I?ll send them the bill.

In addition to garbage collection I paid Waste Management ("WM") an additional amount for yard waste collection. Although the garbage was collected regularly, the yard waste went uncollected with frustrating frequency. I contacted WM on several occassions to advise them of the missed collection and to have the pick up rescheduled. In each case, i was advised there was a "service interruption" and that the yard waste would be collected on next scheduled collection date. On numerous occassions, the yard waste would go uncollected the following week as well. After expending too much time contacting WM of the missed collections, I finally cancelled the contract. Upon cancellation of the contract, (after two consecutive weeks of yard waste had been missed and I had an overflowing container) the customer service represetative directed me to place the emplty containers curbside so that they could be picked up. When I informed the representative that I had no intention of emptying the yard waste container, she stated she would extend our waste hauling agreement so that the bin could be emptied before it was hauled away. In my experience, WM has no interest in providing reliable waste hauling services or responsive customer service.

I am a regular customer of Waste Management for garbage pickup service. Overall I am very satisfied with their service. They come each week, empty the trash and there are no hassles. In this case, I had cut down a small tree in the back yard. I tried to find the phone number for the local office but could not locate it on the website. I left a request for an estimate on the website which guarantees a reply within two business days. No reply. I eventually found a link on their website to the "Live Chat" customer service desk. The rep did not seem overly friendly or helpful. She informed me that they don't remove tree debris. I said thank you. That was the end of it. Not very good service in this case. I found another company that offered to take away the debris for $20. Wish that WM would have bothered to get back to me and been a little more friendly.

I am satisfied with their service. I live in Maplewood, which requires haulers to report every year what they charge homeowners, and to update this information if their price changes (due to increased fuel costs, for example). I used this information when I moved into my house,10 years ago. However, the amount that I am billed is almost twice the amount that Waste Management claims they charge. Some of this is extra fees to help their bottom line, but even my base rate is significantly higher than their claim. Waste Management claim to the City of Maplewood for 1 month, 64 gallon service: $16 My Waste Management bill for 1 month of 64 gallon service (not counting taxes or other government charges): $30.73 This comprises a base rate of $23.10 + $6.30 fuel/environmental charge + $1.33 administration fee. Note that I pay electronically. So, if you use Waste Management, be sure to check your monthly bills closely!

Amazingly bad service in every possible way. It started with billing problems; I attempted to arrange automatic payments through my bank. Though the payments were being deducted, I received automated phone calls each week, telling me I owed a balance, and that my collection might stop if I didn't pay. I made several attempts to contact customer service, all of which led to multiple minutes on hold. I continued to be charged consistently after they stopped collecting my garbage. I learned at one point that the reason they hadn't taken the garbage was that I hadn't placed the can close enough to the alley. It had been easily accessible to their truck, 8 feet from the alley, on my driveway, which is at the same level and with no obstructions from the alley. When I decided to cancel them, I finally received an attempt at some customer service, when a smarmy guy from their office called me. He promised to get back to me the next week about the possibility of a refund for the several weeks when they had failed to collect my garbage. I never heard back from him. Since I had prepaid for 3 months, I assumed they'd continue to collect through the period for which I had paid, but they took my can a month early.

Overall, this company has been prompt with pick up, has handled extra pick ups without us calling ahead and at reasonable prices. We asked for extra recycling containers and they were promptly provided. When they finish garbage pick up, there is no waste on the street or lawn and they are reliable for pick up. They notified us when there was a service change because of holidays. However, we switched to on line billing about 18 months ago. We have had to increase the spending limit on the automatic bill pay 3 times this year. The last time we increased it, the bill did not get paid as we expected. They continued service for the 3 month time span, despite the bill issue, but we were not notified about the billing error until our recycling was not picked up. When we called for an explanation, the staff member was less than courteous and placed blame that we had changed the billing maximum, so the bill did not get paid, and that is why they did not pick up. When we complained that we would have happily paid the bill if we had been notified of the error, she proceeded to advise that many calls had been made to advise us of the billing concern and that emails were sent. We had never received a single call or email, and we have voice mail. When we asked for a service credit for the recycling and someone to pick up before the next 2 week cycle, we were advised nothing could be done to assist us. To their credit, when I called another day to cancel service, the customer service rep asked what it would take to keep us and offered to give us 3 months free. I was too dissatisfied with the billing and previous customer service experience to continue as their customer. We have changed handlers now to a more responsive company and have saved over 50% of our costs.
