It was a disaster for most of the summer. They came and gave us a bid. After a month or two, I came home from work and was surprised to find that they had started. Well good! Until I looked at the work. They took out some Aluminum siding fairly roughly and they just painted over nails sticking up and bits of leftover siding. They painted over hardware and other things. Worse, instead of replacing much of the wood as per the contract, they instead just took wood dough and stuffed it in any rotten spots, even using it on the brick molds and tried to smooth it out to make it look like the old and new matched, which it didn't at all. It, as you might imagine, looked terrible. After contacting them and their coming out when we weren't home to look at it, they took a few more months (my front windows tore up the whole time) and came out again to fix it. They eventually got it right, but I had to stay home for two days supervise them and remind them to do what was stated in the contract. More bad news was, we wanted a particular type of screen material. The told me orally that they were excited to find some and would use that. At the end of the project, it was the same old cheap screen material that is common. This part, as opposed to specifics as to what wood needed replacing, wasn't in writing. Lesson learned. The big problem underlying all other problems is that they don't communicate. It takes forever to get feedback from them and if they do, it was usually brief replies as if texting on the fly. On the bright side, the total product at the end looks good, however (except for the screens). The price was, I think, reasonable. Update: Last fall, when they did the windows, they promised to come back in the spring if putting in the screens was a problem. Well, they were a problem. I called them, and they set a date and came out and did the job right, right away. Way to go!
Description of Work: We hired them during the summer to do repairs and repair four windows at the front of our house.

SP Window was great to work with and did a really good work - Promptyl returned all calls and answered all questions - Always on-time and respected my schedule when setting appointments - Their wooden jams were matched perfectly to the interior wood and exceeded my expectations - Work on the french doors was excellent. - Thorough clean-up without leaving any interior mess Finally, I received quotes from other window restorers. Although SP WIndows is more expensive than others their product is well worth it. I have walnut wordwork on the first floor and white painted trim on the second. The best thing I can say is that my windows have retained their character and are now more efficient.
Description of Work: SP Windows did a thorough review of all the windows in my house (built in 1925). They provided good information on their products and the services needed to retrofit the windows. In addition, they provided a quote on carpentry service to restore french doors, replace a rotted window sill and repair other window casings. In all the total job included retrofitting 24 windows, reconditioning french doors (including new storm doors) and various carpentry.

The work was excellent. The man in charge was Asian and his name was Sy. They were excellent people. They came with all the canvas and carpet covering they needed. They moved some furniture without charging extra. They were very fast. They did a lot of the planning in advance and when they actually came they moved very quickly. They did work in the whole second floor and MAC paid for a portion of the work. The total cost was $14,000 and our portion was $7,000. We are going to use them in the future.
Description of Work: We used SP Windows to put in storm windows on our second floor and they reconditioned interior windows. They took out the windows and installed windows that could be cleaned. It was a total of 28 windows on the second floor.
