NATURAL STONE & TILE

They were excellent. They were very helpful. The salespeople were friendly. They showed us around and spent time with us. We liked the color of the tile and the design in the tile.

The project was a small foundation issue and Micah was able to identify the problem efficiiently, when other contractors could not. He worked well with me and provided papwework promptly, as promised. I would recommend Micah Forsberg to anyone with a foundation problem.

Overall, it went well. The stone and granite install turned out very nice. As the fireplace is a central point of the room, some of the joints could have been tighter to keep it more uniform, there is more variation in joints widths than desired. Two main complaints. Towards the end of the job, it was believed that we would be short of materials. To finish the job that day, I had to make an urgent run to get more stone. I returned, and the fireplace was complete. So no stone required and upon returning the stone, I was charged a re-stocking fee. Also, they dumped their working water in my snow bank, which when the snow receded, there was a nice pile of stone chips and mortor tailings that I needed to clean up. Overall, the job was nice, but the mess and restocking charge were not.

Very smooth deal from checking out the tiles (3 different visits), changing our minds once, and finally purchasing the tiles and fixtures from them. A professional tiler installed the products. Went extremely well.

The service was terrible: I called their store to ask if they had a black gloss square tile with the exact dimensions of 1and 3/4" x 1and 3/4". The clerk obtained a piece of tile and measured it. He said it was 1and 63/64". I went to the store during the next week and asked to see the tile. I measured it and it was 1and 7/8"-a big difference. Later determining that this tile would work for my project, I called the store to order two square feet of this tile. They told me they were very busy and would call me back soon. After waiting four hours, I called them and asked if they had forgotten about me-they had. I placed the order and they said they would call when it arrived. It was supposed to arrive in one week. I called back two weeks later to ask if my tile had arrived. It had. "When were you going to call me?" I asked. They had written down the wrong number. I went to the store to pick up the tile and they had eight square inches of black tile for me. I told the clerk that this was not the two square feet I had ordered. He insisted it was. Quickly realizing that further discussion was futile, I left the store with my tile. Soon after leaving, I noticed that each of the tiles they gave me was scratched, so I returned to the store and showed them the damaged tiles. (I also informed them the other clerk told me this quantity was two square feet. He grinned and agreed it was not two square feet.) I asked for a refund. The clerk had the audacity to tell me there would normally be a restocking charge, but he would waive it this time. I couldn't believe they would charge to return damaged product! This company is incompetent; they do not know the tile business and they know absolutely nothing about customer service. I will never return to this store and I recommend that no one ever shop there. I am a contractor and I do dozens of projects each year. There are many choices of tile suppliers in the Twin Cities and any one of them will give better service.

We appreciated Clint's willingness to search for and order a particular slate tile that NST did not have in stock and then give us a great price on it!
