Genz-Ryan Plumbing Heating & Air Conditioning

Provider was called out to fix leak under kitchen sink during severe cold snap. Was told it was all these possible things.....while he waited for each one to be the "right fix" he installed a $500+ disposal. Might as well while we waited. I knew I could get this disposal purchased & installed for half the price, but I figured he was here so lets just kill 2 birds with one stone. Over 3 hours later, & new dispoal installed, he informed kitchen pipe was frozen & they didn't have the tools to fix it. Thats not what they did. I would need to call another company! When i asked why when in the beginning he thought that may be the problem he didn't tell me that right away instead of wasting my time & money, he said he could remove new disposal & put old one back in for another $100! what?? so i asked him to leave....having paid over $500 for something that could've waited & certainly wasn't the reason he was called for. New company came within 45 min of being called, unfroze pipe (which was backing water up causing leak....no pipe breakage or anything to be replaced.) They were in & out of my house within an hour & it cost $120.00 Thats it!! Genz Ryan called for feedback on visit, I told them exactly what I thought of their whole debacle & scam. Was told a manager would call to discuss a refund of some sort. Call never came. Not surprised. This company is nothing but an overpriced upselling scam!

We have mini-split AC + Heat in a bonus room above our Garage. Moreover, the line set is enclosed in the wall so no ugly hoses and insulation are visible. Three vendors told us system had to be replaced using new line set (i.e., visible eyesore on our siding). Genz-Ryan came in and said they could fix the existing unit. They could have tried to sell us a new one, but instead they saved us about $2,500. Now we will ALWAYS have Genz-Ryan bid on our heating &AC work!

Genz-Ryan was very responsive from the time I requested the quote. The Sales person they sent to provide the quote was very knowledgeable and was able to answer a number of technical questions I had (from "doing my homework" prior to making such a large purchase). They did try to upsell me on a higher end unit but were not overly pushy on trying to convince me to get the higher end unit. I did my own research and was able to make my own decisions of what I did and did not need. I also compared prices with other HVAC installers for the same unit(s). Genz-Ryan were the one most highly rated by Lennox, and participated in all of the manufacturer's programs and discounts and rebates, advanced training and extended warranty programs. They are the the Lennox authorized warranty service provider if you contacted the manufacturer for service of your equipment. I was able to communicate with the sales rep via email very effectively throughout the entire process. He answered all my detailed questions about the unit and the install process very quickly. Once the install date came they showed up on time, covered the floors, removed the old unit without incident. custom bent the sheet metal right in my driveway (This part could have been thought through a little better and executed a bit more precisely), but it has no impact on unit operation or efficiency (thus I am not subtracting a point. The Furnace/ Heat pump were connected properly and neatly tucked where it belonged.. The installer ran a small PVC pipe for the the condensate to my sump pump. Also created a small sheet metal pocket for all the manuals (very nicely done). My house is setup for "Interruptible Air" (AKA "Off peak electric") . An issue was discovered within a week, that the Heat pump unit did not handle the Grid Control event correctly. Once contacted, Genz-Ryan immediately let me know that it is a known issue and that they needed to order and replace a circuit board that would address the issue. The part was received and replaced within 2 weeks. This was acceptable as the HVAC system was functional even without the board (as the error code could be reset by resetting the HVAC controller). replacing the board did address the issue. In my opinion they could have ordered the part once I've put the deposit down for the system. They could have foreseen the issue with the Off peak electric. Granted they don't really sell the top of the line system, I purchased, that often. They provided assistance with applying for all the rebates. (I received the checks less then a month after the install, Your results may vary) I am extremely satisfied with how quiet and efficient my system is. You can not hear anything merely 15 feet away from it. yet it easily keeps my (very insulated) house at perfect temperature without "breaking a sweat". and staying perfectly quiet, to the point where noone can tell if it's on until you put your hand over a vent.

She had a coupon from Genz-Ryan Burnsville that promised a free service call if one used them to make the repairs. Arrangements were made for the service call and I went to my daughters townhome to let the repairman in while my daughter was at work. While waiting for the repairman I took a look at the furnace and noted that the self diagnostics indicated that the furnace did not work because "there was no ignition" or words to that affect. The repairman arrived on time and I told him what I knew about the problem. He then spent considerable time diagnosing the problem then told me that the igniter was defective because the system printed circuit board was applying 115 volts to the igniter and it should be 90 volts. He said the printed circuit board and the igniter would have to be replaced at a cost of over $900. Then he said "oh wait", you booked online so you get a 10% discount so it will only be $800 and some dollars. I was hesitant to spend that much of my daughters money that I suspected she didn't have anyway so he then reduced the price to the high $700 dollar range. Bottom line is I was very suspicious of this guy and his assessment of the problem. I asked him what it would cost to just replace the igniter and he told me it would be $206 or so dollars but said the igniter would not last until morning because the 115 volts would burn it up. I chose to turn down the repair and paid him the required $99. for the service call. I then ordered a replacement ignite online for $34.99, installed it and the furnace has been working perfectly ever since. After the winter heating season was over I called Genz-Ryan to complain about this specific repairman as I was concerned that if he tried to do this to me then he probably was doing it to other unsuspecting homeowners. This repairman's supervisor called me back and had me repeat the story to him. He said the repairman was a good repairman and that he believed this repairman just misdiagnosed our problem. He offered to give my daughter the $99. service call fee and I accepted his offer. Needless to say, I am not pleased with the service I received from Genz-Ryan and I will never ever use this company again.

Although we were using a Groupon to have our hot water heater drained and tuned up, when we discovered that the interior of our 14-year-old heater was nearly completely calcified we asked Genz-Ryan to replace it with a new energy efficient model. The work they performed was done professionally and quickly and in a few short hours they removed the faulty heater and had the new one installed. They were knowledgeable about building codes and how to get the necessary permit, and they left no mess behind. They were friendly and helpful at all times. We will definitely contact this company with any future plumbing or h-vac needs.

The entire experience after getting the estimate and agreeing to do the work was problematic. It turns out that the company (Inspirations showroom) that you have to select the faucets, countertops, etc from is separate from Genz Ryan plumbing. And then the plumbing guys do the plumbing. We had multiple people coming to the house on multiple occasions to do various bits and parts of the job, but they had no idea what had been done before and what was to be done after they were done. The job that was to be done in a couple of days, extended over 4 weeks.

The experience has been positive. It was very satisfactory.

They did what they said they were going to do.

They sent me a card where they would check my water heater for $59. My plumber came and I told him what they did and he said that it was totally unnecessary and I shouldn't have called them. He said it was self cleaning and they didn't have to do anything. I had to pay the plumber and he had to put in a new motor. Their workmanship was excellent but according to my plumber they didn't need to do the work. I was duped. Their prices are very high. They are very friendly and very courteous. They did respond so I had no complaint about that.

They were very efficient but tremendously overpriced. It had a 10 year warranty. We were in a pinch because it was winter and it was brutal cold. Our furnace went in and out. We are older and my husband is ill so we went for the highest whatever and $18,000 later. They were very prompt and came immediately. They do their job but they are horrendous expensive. They work really good. I would try not to use them again. I have a contract. They are supposed to come out once a year to check those two appliances.

Everything has been good. They were polite and did what they said they would do. They did it in a timely manner.

It was a horrible experience. The plumber had no idea which direction the water line was coming from where it comes into the house and where it runs through the ceiling because this a lower level adjustment out to the house. He cut one 5 x 5 keyhole saw hole in one bedroom wall, because he thought that is where the water line would be, only to find out that it wasn't. Then we had to go to another wall to finally figure it out. He did not ask and only said he thought he knew where the problem was. He did ask if it was okay. There was no expertise in cutting the hole; he just kind of jabbed the keyhole saw in, cut the hole then stated the line was not there and said he had to move to the other side of the house. I had to end up patching that bedroom wall. I thought the charge was extremely expensive for replacing that outdoor spigot. I will not use him again and I have used another plumber since then.

They were good. They were prompt and they coordinated well. They did it in a very short time. The quality of the work was excellent. Their price is a little high for the market but they make it up in their service.

Overall good. He got the furnace running and gave many recommendations and useful advice. Genz Ryan is the choice for many builders in the Twin Cities. I have built three homes and they were the sub contractor on all of them. There staff is professional, timely, very informed, knowledgable and up to date on all the newest greatest things as well as just the good old work horse solutions for your home. They do a good job, been in business for a very long time so if a homeowner needs a warranty repair, they are there to continue service. There prices are "fair" based upon their employees knowledge and experience and expertise. Are they the cheapest kid on the block, no. If service and expertise and a no hassle experience is of interest to you, I would highly recommend them. If price is the sole determining factor, then you may not be as interested in them. As usual to my experience with them, the technician sent out to repair my furnace was actually ten minutes early not ten minutes late. He did a quality job and after the furnace was back up and running, he spent time explaining options, best products, worst products and everything in between. Even down to furnace filters. Obviously many best products come with a big price tag. If I was looking at replacing the furnace I did not want the BMW of furnaces but just a good quality product that was known to perform, those options were presented which allowed me to make the decision which route I wanted to go in the future. So the only reason I did not give them A overall is price, but again, there price was not unreasonable for the level of expertise, experience and professionalism. I continue to use them after 20 plus years is because of their quality. I built a home, they were the sub contractor that installed the furnace and AC ect...after six months of being in my new home, the furnace was not working as expected. They sent out a technician, inspected it and told us that it happens, for no apparent reason a furnace just goes bad. They replaced the six month old furnace with a new furnace where many other shops would have tried to "repair" the furnace long enough to get it through the warranty stage and then it would become the homeowners problem to hopefully buy another new furnace from them. That is not Genz Ryan style. After 20 plus years, they are still the company I call.

The technician outlined the problem very clearly and presented options of varying complexity and cost. I was able to ask questions and make the right decision about repairs.

They were good when they did the plumbing part of it and they were good to work with. They did a lot of explaining to us and showed us what they were doing, and showed us how to take care of things when they were all finished. They were very pleasant to work with. They were very pleasant to work with. The price was included in the whole package deal. We got good quality.

We pay an annual fee of $20 a month. We didn't like the last time they came out so I believe we are going to stop using them. They seem to be selling things that seem to be very expensive and aren't needed.

We have been dealing with them for 20 years, they are really good. They gave us a quote for our furnace, but we got a better quote from another company. They are reliable, and they are our former furnace repair person. They told us that our furnace was 22 years old, and we needed to get a new one, so they gave us a quote, and we went out and got other quotes. They had higher end furnaces, and gave us options, but we didn't want to spend that much money, so we went with a lower one.

My experience with them was very good. They replaced it with a furnace brand I was very comfortable with in terms of dependability. This furnace brand is one of their main brands. They have always done good work. They are a little expensive; they are not cheap. That's the hard part. Then we have got to do certain things to keep up our warranty in terms of having them do checks. The checks are a little expensive. I have had the furnace now maybe about five years. If I need them, they generally do very good work.

I don't remember anything remarkable so it must not have been really bad or really good. They do it every couple of years.

It was a Groupon. The serviceman was very professional and very nice. However I got the feeling he was trying to sell a furnace because he said my furnace wouldn't last through the winter and it has been fine.

The experience was fine. They have been around awhile and I had used them before. I would use them again.

It turned out well. They did real quality work and were always clean. It was covered and vacuumed every night. They did a good job. There were two estimates and mine was the lowest. They were very professional too.
