Genz-Ryan Plumbing Heating & Air Conditioning

It was wonderful. I don't know anything about maintenance and stuff. I've been in my house for 10 years and I didn't know to do these things. He was a peach. It was very helpful for me. The price was totally worth it. He was good at everything and I would call him back.

We have used them for 7 years, and we use them on a regular basis. They were supposed to come out last week, but they got delayed because of other people's air conditioners. They are responsive, and they give me service, and if I have a concern, the address it. They are very professional. Their technicians are very nice as well. I am on contract with them. I have seen cheaper prices but I really want them.

They wanted to charge me an arm and a leg for an inefficient furnace. This company was terrible. They came in to fix my furnace and flagged it for leaking carbon monoxide so I could not run my furnace for three days last October. They were way overpriced, but their quality of work seemed to be okay. I have had them here for repairs and they have gotten here fairly quickly.

They were good but really expensive. It went smooth but it was outrageously high priced. I think I got ripped off. It cost a fortune. The motor was $1,800 and I found it online for $350. Someone else could have done it for $200.

The experience is just fine. We have a monthly contract with them. They are on time. They are kind of expensive.

They were good, they really were. Every year, they had a special on there, the furnace was the very wide one so they sent them out to you and everything, they were wonderful that way. It was great, it was good. They were very responsive. It was good quality; excellent. They were very good about responding. I didn't have any issues with it that I can remember. They were very professional. I would use them again.

I haven't had any bad experiences with them, everything has been fine with them. We got them based on a referral from friends of ours who had used them before. Basically, we were looking for someone to replace the sump pump. I wasn't home when they came, so I didn't have a personal interaction with them. The sump pump is working out fine. We have a monthly preventative maintenance fee with them.

I was not happy about their service. They had told me that I kind of needed a certain thing like replaced and they gave me categories but it was weird. I thought it was a little shady in how they work. In the end, I had someone come out and it had nothing to do with what they said.

My experience with Genz-Ryan Plumbing, Heating, and Air Conditioning was very good, brilliant experience.

Came on time and did work as scheduled.

Worker was on time, professional and completed the requested service. I received a thorough written evaluation of the condition of my furnace as well as a follow up call.

Matt was awesome! He was personable and loved our dogs. His work was thorough and he did a great job explaining the entire process with us.

Every step along the way was handled in an exceptional manner; the scheduling and timeliness for the project, the craftsmanship, the attention to detail, the extra effort to protect our home and new appliances with drop cloths and the final cleanup. The customer service and attention to detail was exceptional. We are very satisfied and would definitely have them back for other projects or repairs.

The Genz Ryan technicians tried several approaches to repair the existing air conditioner, but determined that the pressure needed for reliable and continued cooling could not be maintained. They worked quickly to arrange to have a new air conditioner delivered for installation and were able to have the new one in operation within 24 hours. Later in the year when inspecting the water heater, technicians determined that corrosion had begun to spread on the interior of the tank. We discussed possible options for replacing the existing heater. The replacement was installed within the timeframe that they indicated would be feasible.

It felt like a bait and switch. They said I needed major repairs. Very over priced. Will not do business again

I would give a good recommendation for them. They’re prompt and their service is very good. They promptly respond and they’ve been able to answer the questions that I’ve had I guess. I think they’re a little expensive.

Our combustion blower died on Saturday 1/4/2014, with an upcoming forecast of minus 20 (wind chill ~-50). Genz Ryan technician was here on time (called 30 minutes prior to arrival) and confirmed the blower was no good. He attempted to order a new one, but not only did his warehouse not have the blower, but the local Lennox site did not have it. Best he good do was order it on Monday morning. To help us get through the nights, Genz Ryan brought over 3 space heaters. In addition to our space heater and gas fireplace, we made it through. This morning (Monday) I fully expected a call from him stating that the blower would not be available for another day or so. Instead he drove out of his way to get the blower this morning. He was here by 9:30 and had the furnace up and running in minutes. Outstanding effort made by this Genz Ryan technician (Nick). I'll use them again next time in need.

Clean, professional, service people. On time. Pleasant office personnel. Quoted price & stuck to it, even with a couple of extra things they did. This company is AWESOME!!!

1) The house I moved into had used Genz Ryan for many projects. There are two water heaters, both purchased and installed. by Genz Ryan by the original owner of the home (a family with children). When the first water heater broke, it was still under warranty. I called Genz Ryan. The same model was no longer available as replacement. They installed another one, and I had to pay well over $500 for the new installation (even though it was under warranty.) 2) My garbage disposal broke. I was unable to install a new one myself d/t recent surgery. I called Genz Ryan to install a new one. We purchased the same model of garbage disposal from Menards. When Genz Ryan arrived to install it, the rep tried to sell me a different garbage disposal at a much higher cost 'with warranty'. I refused and requested he install the same model of disposal I had already purchased. He did so. It took 90 minutes (I timed him). I was charged $350 for the install where I supplied the part! 3) The burner on the second water heater would not stay lit. I had Genz Ryan look at it. The technician never checked the theramocouple for the burner. Instead he told me I needed a new water heater which he offered to sell me for well over a thousand dollars. I told him that since it was just myself and wife living in the home, we no longer needed two water heaters. I requested a price to remove the second water heater. I was quoted a price of $489 to remove it! Thereafter I had another plumber come to my home. He looked at the second water heater and determined that it needed a new thermocouple (a $20 part). He charged a flat rateof $45 per hour for labor. The second water heater has been working well now for over a week since this new thermocouple was installed.

The technician spent about half an hour checking the water heater including flushing it and inspecting parts. He recommended two parts be replaced, the center rod and the igniter switch. This experience was quite different from one I had with another company on Angie's list who breezed in and out in less than 1/2 an hour. I am always skeptical when a tuneup becomes a repair, but the tech seemed to know what he was talking about. They installed the plumbing in my home when it was built. They made an appointment 1 day after I purchased the groupon which was convenient and they tested the water, softened and unsoftened as part of the groupon.

Our water heater went out early in the morning with a small water leak, and no pilot. Tom, our plumber quickly responded with a visit, and I agreed the unit needed to be replaced, and a new Rheem water heater was installed by that afternoon. The installers were very professional and informative. My only issue with Genz Ryan is their expense, I did look at prices on Warner Stellian for the same model of water heater and it is listed at $649.99, and our bill was $2100.00. I think they are very good plumbers, and getting the water heater installed the same day was fantastic, but I think they would get better ratings if their prices were a bit more fair.

Had a coupon for a water heater tune-up and safety check. Appointment was scheduled about a week in advance. Technician arrived at my house right on time, and was polite and courteous. While tuning-up the water heater, he offered some tips on how to preserve the life of the tank, and also some safety recommendations. Overall, I was pleased with the service, and would call Genz-Ryan again!

It was after hours and we had a leak under our sink that we originally thought was a valve. My husband replaced that, but when the water came back on we realized it was leaking directly from the pipe. Called Genz Ryan because of online reviews and proximity. Unfortunately, Tom, the plumber, had to come from home and had a long drive to get here. He was very upbeat when he arrived and efficiently fixed the problem. He also checked the plumbing in other areas and brought up possible issues down the road. We will definitely contact him with any other future plumbing jobs.

We were selling our townhouse and the city inspection for sale determined that we had a cracked heat exchanger on our furnace. We were not able to get the certificate from the city to allow us to sell until it was fixed and our closing date was less than 2 weeks away. We called several companies and many of them couldn't even come out to give us an estimate for at least 2 weeks. Genz-Ryan was able to schedule us within a week. My husband let the scheduler know our situation and that night the sales guys called and said he could fit us in even sooner. He came out the next day and was very pleasant and knowledgeable. He gave us an estimate and assured us that they could complete the work before our scheduled closing date. We decided to go with them and he got the service scheduled for the following week. On the date of the scheduled work, they arrived on time and got started right away. Shortly after starting the work, he determined that our a/c coil had corroded and had many holes. We talked through the options and determined that we pretty much needed to get a new a/c coil. Genz-Ryan was able to source the new part and get it delivered to our house within an hour. They continued the work and were able to get everything installed in one day. We were very impressed by everyone we worked with and would recommend them to our friends.

I purchased a Groupon for an A/C tune up with the intention to use this company for a future furnace replacement if they did a good job. It was not a good experience. I had difficulty setting the appointment - possibly from so many people purchasing the Groupon. I was finally able to get an appointment for Sept 12 (had to wait over a month). This was after it took the company over 2 weeks to get back to me after leaving a voicemail and writing them an email. The morning of the 8:00 AM appointment came and the technician said he was going to be late by at least 30 minutes. I was not able to hang out at home as I needed to get to work. I asked to have my appointment rescheduled, and the technician replied that this should not be a problem. About 20 minutes later I got a call back from the company. They said that it was too late in the season to get my A/C serviced (why they would schedule my appt if that was the case was confusing) and they were booked out for a few months - they gave me 3 options - schedule for next spring, apply it to a furnace check up or call Groupon for a refund. I replied back with dissatisfaction as I really wanted my A/C check up and I had already had my furnace serviced. The person from Genz Ryan became clearly agitated - at that point I decided I was better off just getting any work done with someone else. In summary, I thought I received poor service from beginning to end and would never recommend this company. That being said, I am sure they do fine work, however, my experience was not a good one.
