 + 1 moreSo far, we have used Designed Glass for custom shower doors, stylish bathroom mirrors, and glass surfaces for tabletops in both houses we've owned in the south metro. Their products aren't cheap, but the quality of materials and workmanship is excellent, everything is made exactly to your specifications, and professional installation is included. The custom shower doors have been particularly great- my wife and I are both rather tall, so we had them make the doors tall enough to walk though without ducking. Since everything is custom cut, the width of the doors is perfect as well, with just the right overlap--impossible to make happen with junky builder-grade doors and kits sold at places like Home Depot. For something like this that you will literally use EVERY DAY, it's money well-spent.
Description of Work: Manufactured and installed custom-fit semi-frameless bypass shower door for our master bath and a custom-fit glass surface for the built-in desk of the "command center" in our new construction home.

Description of Work: Installed a glass shower enclosure. Things started out a little rough when they didn't show up for the measuring appointment but when we called them they acknowledged the oversight and showed up a few minutes later. The product was extremely high quality, installers were very friendly and did a great job.

Description of Work: This is a quality organization!! They provided me with world class professionalism and service. From start to finish they listened to my needs and exceeded all expectations. I needed some support after my 14 year old broke our patio glass door. The good folks at Designed glass found a solution that was over $500 less than I anticipated it would cost. They are a fair and honest company. Most importantly, the staff really appeared to enjoy the work they were doing. This is a fantastic company.

They didn't provide the right information right off the bad. Besides that, the workmanship and everything was just fine. The price was pretty good. I was okay with that.

Description of Work: I had a steam room/shower installed in my basement in November 2010. It was a custom design and there were not a lot of places that could build/install a glass door to fit inside of a frame. Note that it needed to be relatively sealed to contain the steam in the shower space. Erica gave me a quote and directions on how to direct the tiler how to make it all work. The door is the last part of the job. Designed Glass came and did exactly the work they stated they would. A couple of years later (2013) the door started to rub a little bit when closing. I emailed Erica and described what was happening. Within a couple of days she scheduled somebody to come out and take the door out. They fixed it and came back and reinstalled it. She never brought up any type of extra charges to make the corrections...even over two years later. She did not know that I was an Angies list member and had no exceptional reason to conduct her business like this. Designed Glass stands by their work...and their work is great. Their exceptional professionalism that I appreciate and respect tremendously.

Description of Work: Erica and her team are outstanding; she's been at this for 20+ years! They visited my house three times for estimates given the ever-changing nature of the design. When the shower door, knee-wall window and exterior window to my new walk-in shower were ready to be installed the only downer was they'd cut the shower door too wide and it didn't fit. They installed the other items and were prompt to get back out with a newly cut door that fit like a glove. The installer commented that the estimator (his brother) must have been reading metric that day. They were a great group to work with, the price was very affordable and their craftsmanship is great (even the wrongly cut door was done nice --- too bad they had to scrap it). I'm working with them on another project for a second home (purchased recently in 2012) and feel good knowing they're dealing with the glasswork. Hire these people -- you'll be gald you did.

 + 0 moreWe recently had our lower level shower re-tiled and the old shower door had to be removed. We were referred to Designed Glass by our tile installer. We visited the Designed Glass showroom in Burnsville and selected a door. They came out later that day and measured. The door arrived in their showroom a week later, as we were told, but when they said they would not be able to install until the following week, we explained that we needed it done sooner. They called us back later that day and arranged for it to be installed the next day. We are extremely pleased with the door and the way they were able to accomodate our needs. We intend to use Designed Glass again next spring when we plan to remodel our upper level bathroom.

Description of Work: Designed Glass installed new glass shower door - beautiful clear glass, mostly frameless, custom. They discussed how different styles would work in our setting. They showed us all the options in their showroom, came out to our home to measure area, & installed the new. Quick, quiet & left everything clean, gave instructions on care & maintenance. We were left with the best product for our bathroom & love how you can see thru the clear glass, it just kind of disappears.

 + -1 moreMeredith was quick to try to find out how to help us out on such short notice and gave us a quote on the temporary piece to be ready for the very next day. They then called back after I had dropped off what was left of the piece that broke so they could match the beveling and tint of the original piece. They were very helpful and quick to realize that we really wanted something ready for our dinner party.
Description of Work: They cut down a 1/4 inch piece of glass to temporarily replace a custom-made piece from a family heirloom display case which was broken 2 days before a dinner party. They then went ahead and began working on making a 3/8 inch permanent replacement piece to match the original.

 + -1 moreWhen I called for the estimate they said they were busy so didn't make a specific appointment but said they would send someone out to measure. I had to call a couple more times before someone came out. They send the measurements to another company so it took several more days to get the actual quote. It's hit or miss to get someone answering the phone as they are a smaller company, but they are good about returning calls and friendly on the phone. I have used them before a few times to install a 1/2" frameless shower door, cabinet door glass and mirrors and so gave them more leeway with the delays in coming out for the measurement and getting the final quote then I would have with another company. In the end they were the 2nd lowest bid and $250 more than the lowest so I didn't choose them for this project.
Description of Work: Received an estimate to replace the glass on an 87" x 45" half circle window using insulated low-E glass. Estimate included a starburst grid and installation.

 + -1 moreThis job required two visits, the first to measure, the second to install. The shower was measured the same time we received a quote for the job and details of how this company worked. We picked them because of the quotes we received, this company did not require us to go without the shower doors and walls during the construction of the new shower--a 2-3 week process. The installation took about 1-1/2 hours including clean-up and they hauled away the old shower door too. We were very happy with the service we received from this company and the new shower looks beautiful.
Description of Work: We had our old (1990's frosted glass) shower walls and door replaced with clear glass, new frame (brushed nickel)and a new door handle.
