1- He became hard to reach and arrange appointment - He was always "out of town" .Whenever I reached him on the phone, to attempt to set appointments , he always said he did not have his calendar and could I email him times. 2-When he came back to me with the final door spec - I saw from the Anderson door catalog that the door would not actually qualify for the credit - I called him to tell him. He insisted that when he ordered the door and fully speced it out that the full receipt would show that it did qualify after all of the specific options were added to the door. This turned out not to be true, The door did not qualify for the tax credit. 3-The door needed a build up of the threshold - he chose to use wood that had knots. He placed the board with the knot up and at the leading edge of the threshold. When I complained, he got mad and said he could not control nature and that all wood has knots. 4- The threshold he built - which led to stairs, was so mis-sized that it covered 1/3 of the step. I could not even place a full foot on the top step. - And I have a small shoe. When I pointed this out he he got mad. 5- He never bothered with the alarm magnet - that had been in the original threshold - when I asked about it, he said he though it was a telephone wire - he got mad. 6 -He did not repair the wood at the door exterior 7 -The door was impossible to latch - He told me he had other clients with the problem and I should call Anderson to come out. 8- After stewing for a few months, I called him to come back and fix the threshold. I told him it was like trying to step off a cliff (onto the step) and that it was dangerous - He said oh yes, he knew exactly what I meant but that it had been cold while he was doing the work and just wanted to get out of there. 9- It took at least 2 months to get him to come in - again with the out of town and email requests. 10 - When he finally came back, his demeanor was very rough. I repeated the above complaints and he acted very angrily. 11- After he cut back the threshold so that I could use the step - he did not even sand the edge. I asked him to sand it and finish the exterior wood. He again got p*****. - He said he could not, but after I insisted he went to his truck and came back with a rasp. Nobody would have considered the edge to have been acceptable. 12 - I asked him to finish the exterior - which he only partially did. 13 - After doing the last two items above he simply left. I was in the next room and did not know if he was planning to return. 14 - I called him and again he was very p***** but told me he was done. 15 - Now it is several months later, and I just realized that he cut a second alarm wire, so I have two doors without alarms and not one I cannot be more firm about his poor work.
Description of Work: I hired Eduardo Prez to install an exterior door to replace a poor door to an attached greenhouse. As a part of this project I also had an agreement that he would finish the exterior wood around the door where a portion of the wood had been chewed by our bird. He also agreed to incorporate our alarm system (magnet - closed circuit when the door was closed) We also agreed that the door he purchased would be eligible for the tax credit based on its energy star rating He was very friendly and I liked him from the time he came to bid. After I signed our contract and made a deposit, his attitude steadily declined.
