Our roof was leaking due to an ice dam. After spending most of the night babysitting the situation I sent out several requests for help. Chis VanVleent dba as Ice Dams Removed was quick to get back to me and was at my house by 7:30AM the next morning....only hours after I had submitted an online request. I was very very pleased with our experience in an otherwise tense moment. His rate was reasonable even though he could have gouged us. He worked very quickly and efficiently and I believe this was because he knew what he was doing and was honest. I will be keeping his card if i have a need for a contractor down the road.

They did a very good job.

Work was completed in a timely manner. Problems were solved thoughtfully and with care. At the end of each work day, all materials and supplies were neatly stored in the garage and work areas left clean and tidy. Workers arrived promptly and conscientious.

I had sought bids from several contractors, and each of them told me what they do and how much it would cost. All of them proposed to install metal soffits on my colonial home, which would not have looked good. Van Vleet listened to what I wanted, and told me that a composite-wood product was available, and he would install it for what turned out to be the same average cost as the other contractors. They also did a small roof repair job on another occasion, with the same satisfying results. We have moved out of the area, but if we were still in the Twin Cities, they would be my first go-to contractor for pretty much anything.

We noticed our ceiling leaking in our kitchen and called Van Vleet Construction to see if they could remove the snow and ice from our roof. They came out promptly, were very professional in their work, and did an excellent job. They charged a reasonable fee as well.

.Very good service. We had water getting inside the house and urgently needed to get the ice removed. We felt that the cost of the service was very high. We wanted them to come back and remove ice from the other side of the house, but because they were in high demand, and their equipment broke down they were unable to come back.

Chris' team were very thorough in removing the ice dams from the rear of our house. They use a steam-only process that protects the integrity of the roof. They completed the whole back of the house in 2 1/2 hours and even removed some of the larger chunks from the deck where they landed.

I got home on a Saturday evening to discover a water stains on an upstairs bedroom, along with the sound of drips. Looking at the back of the house I saw a massive amount of ice overhanging the roof. Opening a hole in the ceiling showed the leak around a plumbing vent. I slowed the leak as much as possible, then contacted VanVleet and left a message around 8 at night. I got a call from Chris within the hour. He gave me an hourly rate along with a time estimate and said that a crew would be available at noon the next day (Sunday). Chris called the next morning around 10 am and said the crew was ahead of schedule and on their way. Jason and Jeremiah arrived a few minutes later, set up the equipment and got started. They used a steam-based removal process which left the roof clean with no physical damage, breaking the ice into large chunks. An above-ground pool and air conditioning unit are near the house and I needed to sign a waiver freeing the crew from liability of damage due to falling ice. However, even with the damage waiver, the crew took great care in protecting pool and A/C unit with a combination of plywood panels and good judgement. Neither the pool nor A/C was damaged. The entire job was completed by late afternoon and we were only charged for actual time worked. This process is not inexpensive and the hourly rate was a bit of a shock at first. However, this was not a "hammer-and-chisel" operation. it was much safer, more effective, and less damaging than any other method I know of. We were able to get the roof clean and the leak stopped within about 12 hours of my first phone call, minimizing water damage inside the house. Prompt, professional, and attentive is hard to find, sometimes at any price. I am impressed and highly recommend VanVleet for ice removal.

I received a prompt reply by Email (also through Angie's List). At first they referred me to an individual, whom they called an "associate". No company name, but they provided the individual's name and phone number, and said to mention "Chris" when I called the guy. I called, but the number went right to voicemail, which explained that the mailbox was full. I reported this back to VanVleet, by Email. I heard from VanVleet the following day. They wrote that they would be coming to my residence in 4 days (on a Saturday), and they quoted an extremely high hourly price for "ice dam steaming" services, which I had not asked about. I responded promptly to explain that there is no ice dam damage to my roof, and what I really need is a crew to simply shovel/remove snow from my roof - the service they advertise on Angie's List. I told them I could be open to "ice dam steaming" if indicated during their visit, but I have no reason to commit to that service now, and wanted to be clear about that. Their prompt reply (Email) was that they are only selling "ice dam steaming" services now. Given that VanVleet advertises "roof snow removal" on Angie's List, their 'up-sell' of a different service at an extraordinary price felt like gouging. I did not receive VanVleet's services, so this is not a bad service report for their company. They were professional in their communications and may be outstanding builders and/or roofers. Plus I'm not a repeat customer so they owe me no special consideration. On the other hand, I was only asking for the service they advertised. I'm concerned about any contractor who appears to be switching their service offering and/or increasing prices dramatically to take advantage of temporary situations (bad New England weather this season).

Done in a couple of hours. Complete clean-up on the job site.

I had received bids from three roofing/soffit/gutter contractors, but each one told me what THEY do and how THEY do it and what materials they use, etc. All were going to use aluminum, and were unwilling to repair and paint fascia. I have an old house, and didn't want aluminum soffits. I was able to tell Chris Van Vleet what I wanted, and how I wanted it done, and he said okay. He even suggested some new soffit material he had learned about. And his price was almost the lowest of the three. He even added a little extra work patching some holes, without extra charge. I really appreciate the flexibility in how he approaches a job, and the broad range of skills he and his people have. He's my go-to person from now on.

We spent the night listening to dripping water into our bedroom window due to ice dams and frantically contacted a number of people to help us the next day. Chris and his team were true lifesavers. Not only did he respond in a timely manner, but he stayed in contact and was able to fit us in that same day. Chris brought two guys with him and they immediately got to work shoveling snow where our roof rake wouldn't reach and clearing an area away from a 2nd floor window. They hooked up the steamer at the same time and were great about just routing the hose through a window in our laundry room (so we didn't have to turn our outside water back on). They were in and out in 2 hours, and that included clearing snow off the front porch and walkway that was taken down from the roof. We really appreciate finding Chris. Especially thankful to get back to a good night's sleep in a dry house and avoid any interior damage.

Very professional, detailed, and efficient. Work done well and met all expectations. Professional from start to finish. Will hopefully not have to use again as I hope to have no more ice dams. However I would use for his other construction services due to knowledge and this service.

Price was reasonable, work completed in the manner discussed. We were appreciative to work with someone for whom the job was not too small.

Nothing to report....project was never started...Van Fleet never got back to me with other options.

I agreed to proceed with the last three items and was told that they could be done on the following Friday. That was satisfactory with me so I agreed. Friday came and went without hearing from Mr. VanVleet, nor have I heard from him in the following 3 weeks.

My wife & I were looking to remodel our house, specifically the kitchen, dining and living room areas. Chris & his team did a complete remodel - from the studs out - on the kitchen; they changed the dining area over to a sitting area; they transformed the old living room into a beautiful & elegant dining room. My wife and I are THRILLED with the job that Chris, Jason & team did. They are honest, trustworthy, extremely skilled, amazingly hard-working. The results EXCEEDED our best hopes. The changes to approximately one-third of our home are beautiful, absolutely beautiful. We WILL be using Van Vleet Construction for ALL of our remodeling & home-improvement needs in the future. We would not even consider using anyone else. We give Van Vleet our fullest support and would recommend them to everyone !!

I was very pleased with the results. For both projects I got a bid within 1 week of contacting them, the price was fair and the work exceeded my expectations. In addition, they always cleaned up after themselves so that, other than the work that was done, I couldn't tell they had even been there.

First I called Chris because of ice dams. He came over, gave me an estimate and was back within a day to do the job. They worked into the evening, in the dark, until it was done which was important because I had water leaking inside a wall. Then I had him blow insulation into my attic. For the estimate he got up into the attic, although there was very little space, and discovered that the person that had previously done the work hadn't actually gone all the way into the attic which left some ductwork exposed.
