I had great difficulty contacting this provider from the day I purchased the voucher. When a appointment was finally scheduled he was a no-show for the scheduled day and time. I have not had a response to my phone call and message sent through Angie's List.

He was supposed to be here at 9:00am. He didn't show. I called him at 9:15-9:20. He was shoveling snow. He finally showed up and never wiped his feet upon entering the front door. I said my lights sometimes go off in different parts of the house when turning on other lights. I was also concerned about a outlet that I had connected a 6 plug outlet into. It was "burned" where the electric fireplace had been plugged in. He said the 6 plug outlet was cheap and I needed a surge strip. He then looked in the breaker box and tightened screws on 3 breakers. That was it! Nothing else was done.

this guy was nuts i found the issue in his breaker panel and checked the outlet for him and told him it was the adapter that was bad and as far as the shoes go he said no problem when i asked him about taking off my shoes. i don't know what else he expected but the problem he had was solved.no appreciation for a skilled professional is not my problem.

We purchased the Angie's List deal and had the services performed in just a week. I contacted Tim on Wednesday to schedule the appointment. We agreed on Friday morning between 9-9:30. When I hadn't heard from him by 9:45, I called and he said he would leave at that time. He arrived around 10:30. We explained what we needed (to add an exhaust fan in a guest bath where no fan existed) and he discussed a couple of options with my husband. Once they had agreed upon the method, Tim got to work. He had to go up into the attic to wire the new fan and drop wires for the new switch. We already had the bathroom partially down to the studs, so he had good access to what was already there. Within an hour, the new fan was working, installed a new switch for the existing light and we had tested it. He did have a mishap in the attic where he accidentally put his knee through the ceiling in our bedroom closet. He did give us some money to pay for a patch kit before leaving and apologized for the hole several times.

Never got around giving a date for the work to be done. When he came to review all the work to be done, complained that Angies List keeps 30% and the money he gets is too low. After the review visit texted many times asking for a date and did not get a response. So before the coupon expires, I requested for a refund. Also said that he needs a handyman to help him out with the work. That is at least $30/hour. Adds up another $240 to the total rate. I could get the work done with no complaining for $500.

I provided the LED fixtures and asked the provider to install new brackets (the brackets came with the LED fixtures) within existing cans. Provider told me that new brackets were installed but they were not. He used the existing brackets which were not suitable for the LED fixtures. I hope I don't need to take them down in the future.

I bought a big deal for 2 hrs of work for $99 hoping that they could install a zwave 3-way switch in the basement stairs and while they were at it install 3 zwave singles switches. When the electrician called to set up the appointment, I informed him about the 3 way switch, that it required a neutral at both switches in order to work, but that the white/neutral wire in one of the boxes had been changed to a hot taped black and that he would have to find the junction in order to change it back to a neutral. I only knew this terminology because a neighbor of mine knows a bit about electricity, but was unfortunately busy while I was needing this done. The next day when the electrician showed up to perform the work, he opened both boxes, looked at both switches and told me it wasn't going to work because they needed a neutral wire in both boxes. After explaining to him that I had told him that over the phone I asked if he could change the white taped black back to a neutral and only after repeatedly asking did he finally decide to take a look. I have 4 can lights at the bottom of the steps, he removed 1, did not find the junction and then immediately gave up saying "Maybe somebody smarter than me can figure out how to do it, but I can't.". Apparently Sparky didn't send out very qualified employees to those of us that bought the deal. He ended up only installing 2 of the 3 singles switches due to one of the switches being defective, so that wasn't his fault. He ended up being there for only 1.5 hrs of the 2 hrs I paid for. About 2 weeks later my neighbor was able to come over and take a look at the 3-way switch, looked in a different can light and found the junction and we had everything set up within 30 minutes. Why a "qualified" electrician was unable to do that, I have no idea.

The first time he came out he said we should wait on the bigger project I had for him because he was pretty busy that day. We both agreed, I was in no rush and he was busy. We agreed that it wouldn't count towards the two hours. The whole wall of outlets, including my phone, were not working in the kitchen. He thought it was the receptical, we pushed a button and everything went back on. I had to prompt him to push the button. A couple days later the power went out again on Thursday. I tried to reach him on Friday and first thing Monday. Monday I got in touch and told him that it had happened again. We thought it was going to be the receptical needing replaced. He then started saying that he would have to charge me more for this next visit. He kept stating that he had to drive 40 miles every time. However, both times before he always declined my offers for payment or told me it wouldn't count toward my time. I kept trying to ask him how much it would cost and I felt like he was avoiding the question. Now the Big Deal has been redeemed by him.

i made 2 trips to her home and the first time i reset the gfi outlet and checked the breaker panel for her. the 2nd time i reset the gfi outlet again and did not charge her for the 2nd trip. she called again and i told her the 3rd trip would be a trouble call and i would have to charge her for drive time and labor and parts and when i told her it would be around 170.00$ she said no so i didn't go back a 3rd time. I think she expected a free trip and that is unacceptable to expect that.

It took me some time to arrange to have him come out. One technician came to complete the work and he arrived on time. Before completing the job, he said there would be additional charges of about another hour. However, it ended up being two additional hours costing an additional $400 on top of the prepaid cost of the deal. After he had arrived to my home, he had to go out to purchase supplies. He was gone for about an hour and that time was included in the bill.

I purchased this electrician thru a deal Angie's list offered and it was the best service I could have hoped for. He was willing to schedule when it was convenient for me. He was prompt, efficient and willing to please. He installed the bathroom fixture beautifully and it was not an easy job. He had to put his ladder in the bathtub to reach the fixture but his attitude was absolutely positive and professional. He was nice enough to correct a light my husband installed poorly in the dining room. I couldn't be happier with this service!!

He did not introduce himself when he arrived, just walked in and started looking @ my chandelier. I had some very simple tasks, which he accomplished. One did pose to be a little more challenging, that is when he started swearing. Not excessively mind you, but loud enough for me to hear from the level above.

Sparky Electric is owned and operated by a very friendly and well-meaning gentleman, named Tim, who needs to develop better business acumen and service. The service, (8 hours of general electrical service) ended up being spread over three sessions. The first turned out to be something like an estimate for Tim to get a sense of what I wanted to have done, but work couldn't begin that day because Tim's van had been broken into the previous week, and the hammer drill stolen out of it (required for mounting conduit on masonry). Bad luck can happen to anyone, so I didn't think that was reason to worry about the quality of service. The second session took a couple of calls on my part just to get scheduled, and was to begin with the ceiling fan installation. I asked if it would make most sense to install a new junction box to serve as the anchor for the ceiling fan. Tim didn't think so, and simply drilled the screws to mount the ceiling fan into the sheet rock, assuring me that it would hold. When I noticed that the flashing that hid the screw assembly wasn't flush to the ceiling, Tim pulled down the flashing and realized that one of the screws had already pulled loose by about half an inch. He tried the installation again, this time with a remodel-type ceiling fan box, but realized that a junction box had in fact been installed in the recessed space, and he anchored the fan directly to the wood of the upper floor to ensure stability. After 3 hours, Tim asked if we could resume the rest of the service on another day, requiring another reschedule. Two weeks later, the rest of the service was performed. Tim was the one to call me to confirm this time, but 10 minutes after I had expected him already to have arrived. I told him the details of what I'd hoped to have accomplished, including replacing some existing conduit buried in the ceiling that I thought would interfere with the can light that would go in that space. He was a little concerned about the access to a junction box that the conduit was attached to. When I next checked on the progress, he had abandoned the effort to remove the buried conduit, and had done so without explaining to me the reason why or even notifying me that he'd made the decision. At that point I asked for his plan for wiring the additional fluorescent lights, and it seemed clear that there wasn't yet a plan. After discussing, it was clear he hadn't understood the job in the first place. Communication and punctuality was a constant issue. After Tim first called back to plan the service, I had to initiate all subsequent communication. Tim wasn't on-time for any of our appointments, and for all but one exchange I was the one to call him to determine when or whether he would be coming that day. The kicker came when it finally came time to settle up. The prices he charged for the materials that he used were exorbitant, maybe 3 times what you'd pay at a hardware store. I don't think I got value for the 7 1/2 hours of actual service performed -- I feel like other electricians have accomplished far more in 8 hours. The extra $100 above and beyond the Angie's List Big Deal felt like adding insult to injury.
Description of Work: Installed a ceiling fan. Installed new lighting circuit in laundry, installed an additional light, and moved two existing basement switches with 9 feet of conduit.

[member name removed] was a diificult customer and expected perfection in an older home that was not exactly a well wired home to begin with and as far as pricing for materials is concerned i have to make a profit on materials to pay for my overhead like gas and inventory so next time you go out to eat try brining your own groceries as they are cheaper in a store and see what they say.
