Description of Work: This was a "Big Deal" for ceiling fan install. I live about 8 miles from their business address and I was told there would be a $50 travel charge. I did not follow through with the Big Deal and asked for a refund from Angie's List.

Description of Work: Called the number provided to set up an appointment. Was informed in detail of the services Randy's company provides with the Big Deal. Not mentioned or indicated in the Big Deal was a trip charge that would be added to the service call, it's like being blind sided..

Description of Work: I bought the deal. I called for installation date. I was called after the big storm went through to reschedule, I agreed. Three weeks later the electrician arrived 25 minutes late, and looked at me and said "You have an Angie's list coupon don't you?" And I said yes, here it is. His response was "you can't use those for chandeliers". I told him I bought the coupon, told their dispatch lady about what it was I wanted them to do and was told it was OK. The electrician said no, and then went to his truck. I took the coupon out to him and said, OK where does it say what you think it does? I asked him how much more it would be and he said $160 more of a total of $250. I said forget it, I could do it in a half hour myself. I am moving and my ladders are already gone. My neighbor gave me his, done in 45 min. I didn't do a report since the company was solid, folks were nice, the owner Randy contacted me directly and offered anything to make it right. Nice company, but an off day for the electrician who as I understand it now, is having some difficulties. I surely did not want to add to whatever they are. So, no report. And please do not post anything negative, I liked the fact they all tried to make it right.

Description of Work: I purchased a big deal for a light/ceiling fan fixture for Randy's Electric. I paid $75 for this big deal. I called to make an appointment and they are charging $49 for a trip fee. No where on the big deal information did it state there would be an extra fee for the service. I then looked at the coupon after speaking to the representative for Randy's and it states 'trip fee may apply'. Again, I did not see this information when purchasing the deal. I believe this to be deceiving advertisement and do not want to do business with such companies.

Description of Work: I purchased the big deal for a friend, Sue Dingmann who wanted to upgrade her electrical from 100 amp service to 120 amp service. Never did either one us expect the additional charges to be over $2500.00 more above and beyond the initial payment of $949.00. The additional cost was more than my friend could afford to pay. After talking to Randy's Electric, I was told to contact Angie's List for a refund. Please contact me if you need any further information for the refund. Description of Work: I MADE AN APPOINTMENT ON JUNE 19 WITH A BIG DEAL SPECIAL OFFER---WAS TOLD FIRST AVAILABLE APPOINTMENT WAS JULY 3.. I ONLY WANTED 4 OUTDOOR LIGHT FIXTURES REPLACED WITH NEW ONES. ON JULY 2ND, I GET A PHONE CALL CONFIRMING MY APPOINTMENT FOR JULY 3, BETWEEN 10 AND 12. ON JULY 3, I GET A CALL AROUND 11 AM STATING THAT ALL THEIR ELECTRICIANS HAD BEEN CALLED OUT TO DEAL WITH POWER OUTAGES TO THE THE RECENT STORM. I TALKED TO EXCEL AND THEY STATED THAT ALL POWER HAD BEEN RESTORED JUNE 26TH---HOW DID WE MAGICALLY HAVE MORE POWER OUTAGES AFTER THAT DATE? MY BELIEF IS THAT BECAUSE I HAD PURCHASED A "BIG DEAL", RANDY'S SAW THE OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE MORE MONEY OFF OF OTHER "FULL PAYING" CUSTOMERS. ONCE AGAIN, I WAS SENT TO THE BACK OF THE LINE----APPOINTMENT SCHEDULED ON JUNE 19 AND THE WORK TO BE DONE JULY 3----NOW I AM TOLD THE NEXT AVAILABLE APPOINTMENT IS NOT UNTIL JULY 17---2 WEEKS PAST THE REGULARLY SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT. 2 WEEKS TO GET AN ELECTRICIAN TO INSTALL/REPLACE 4 OUTDOOR PORCH LIGHTS? ANGIES LIST AND I ARE BOTH BEING SCREWED.

Dear customer. Again, Thank you for your feedback. As we discussed on the phone, we are not in the business of treating one customer differently than another. We will, however, continue to take care of emergency cases as they arise. Leaving people in the dark without power, does not seem the right thing to do to anyone, and that would include YOU should it ever happen to you. You mentioned that you called the power company and learned that all power was restored. That may be true from the overall perspective, but I can assure you that there were and probably still are customers out there who have trees that fell and only now - 2 weeks after the storm; their power is cut. You choose to believe you have the truth and that we are lying. How unfortunate. We have no reason to lie to you. Moving forward, as I shared with you along with heartfelt apologies - you will be on our list of people to get to sooner rather than later. We will be delighted to get your fixtures hung for you. And again, we are so very sorry that we hurt you in the process of assisting others who were in need. Enjoy the 4th.

Description of Work: Just a brief conversation with the woman who answered the phone at Randy's Electric, in which she told me there would definitely be a $49 trip charge (the fine print of the deal did say "there MAY be a trip charge). Then, when I asked her for an estimate of what the total charge would be for replacing a hanging pendant lamp, she said she couldn't tell me that. She stated they would send out an electrician to assess the job and write an estimate. I thought it was strange that she couldn't give me an approximate idea of what a particular service could cost, so decided to get a refund.

Description of Work: We needed help installing a chandelier and thought the Big Deal was perfect. Brent from Randy's came over but instead of installing the chandelier, which is what I bought the Big Deal for, he just gave us an estimate of about $200 to install it.

Thank you for your feedback. While I appreciate your comments, I want to point out that your chandelier was a much bigger job than what is considered standard. The coupons are designed to be used for routine type jobs and as much as we would like to do all jobs as routine, it is not feasible. I am sorry that your feel as if our overall performance is not to your standards. We do our best to be consistent with how we approach and treat all of our very important customers.

Description of Work: They tried to add $50 service charge and also $20 Gas upcharge and worked very hard to sell me on other items. Did not buy. they cancelled twice before they showed up. They did a good job on the installation.

Description of Work: No work completed - just an initial service call , where we paid an additional service charge of $49 They said they said our panel would not be "to code" unless we updated the outside mast and meter and added a third ground wire, all costing and additional $987 on top of what we paid with the Big deal. We called our city inspector- he said our mast and meter were, in fact, to code and that the Power company does the final code inspection and determines what is and isn't to code.

Description of Work: I thought I just did this up above.I purchased a coupon for $69 that was supposed to be for $200 in electrical services. Made appt. and when the rep. came out, the cost to move two interior outlets was a lot more additional to the $200 coupon. To move both outlets 9about 2' each) - IT WOULD HAVE BEEN AN ADDITIONAL $884.00 TO DO BOTH OR, AN ADDITIONAL $446 FOR THE BATHROOM AND $238 FOR THE BEDROOM. I could not afford this. The man was very nice. To even move the outlet in the bath down about two feet he would have to run new lines from basement - same thing for the bedroom - to move it 2' sideways to get it out from behind my bed. I didn't realize this because ad said "Installing interior or exterior outlets and more" - so I figured if he could install new ones for that, he could surely move two for the $200 -Thank you and I am sorry it did not work out - I've used Angie's list before and was satisfied.

Description of Work: I made an appointment to troubleshoot our air exchanger. After speaking with the lady at the shop, she spoke to the electrician and he said that he didn't work on that type of work. She suggested that I get my money back, since I bought it specifically for this problem.

Description of Work: Bought a Angie's List deal for Randy's Electric to install a ceiling fixture. They installed a fixture I got via Groupon (sense a theme?). Cindy scheduled the appointment through friendly emails very quickly. Sean B, the electrician who came was great. He was thorough, suggested different electrical jobs for safety and efficiency and was just plain nice. As a high maintenance, persnickety customer, wasn't sure I loved my light fixture, and Sean was patient and just wanted to make it right. Very cool. Ended up liking the fixture and had a happy ending. Thank you, Randy's!
