SIMON CONSTRUCTION CO

I had an absolutely horrible experience with Simon Construction. They replaced our cedar shake roof at my home in 2009, which needed to be replaced due to storm damage and was paid for by our insurance carrier. But once they got the job, I had to constantly call to chase them down to find out when the work was going to get done. Then, a few years after the new roof's installation, multiple shingles started to curl up and a number actually fall off the roof. When we called Simon back to report this, they came out and inspected the roof and said it was due to further storm damage. When our insurance company inspected the roof, they denied our claim and said the roof damage was due to "installation error". Phil Simon (the owner) promised to take care of us and repair the roof. It hasn't done to date. So, my experience with Simon has been a frustrating one with many unreturned phone calls, a seemingly inferior product and shoddy workmanship, jobs that drag out, one that never got done, and a promise made that was never kept. As a result, I would never recommend or use them again.

It went real well. Our roof was damaged in a storm and it turned out the shingles were organic. The insurance company didn't want to pay anything due to the organic shingles. The crew at Simon busted it hard working with the insurance company and met up with the adjuster several times. In the end they got half the roof covered, which was pretty awesome. Then they showed up on time. Finished when they said they would. Cleanup was amazing, if I didn't have a new roof I would never have known they were there. The roof looks great! Also after the city inspector came by and wanted something changed, they called me before I got around to calling them and told me what needed to changed and when they would be out to make the change. Then they showed up when they said they would and left no trace of themselves when they were finished. Great crew and the sales and office folks were super responsive and knowledgeable.

The roof was replaced right on schedule and they did a beautiful job, except they damaged the roof-mounted sprinkler rain sensor and got tar on the siding. The rain sensor was replaced without question. The tar spots on the siding were removed but discoloration resulted and there was no resolution offered by Simon. Clean-up after the roofing job was completed was excellent. Service and communication by their rep, Gavin, was excellent as was the installation crew. I wish I could say the same thing about their office/management. I could not get their management to return my calls. They did not want to provide me with a lien waver from the shingle provider until I had paid the bill in full, but eventually agreed to my withholding the deductible until the lien waver was provided. If I had to coordinate a job only with their office, it would be a very frustrating experience!
