Overall, I was happy with the job they did. There are many imperfections in the work, but then again our 100+ year old house can be a challenge to contractors. They were easy to work with, and offered a lot of suggestions for getting our money's worth out of the project. I do think we overpaid and probably could have saved $5-$10k had we gone with a different contractor. However, the extra cost may have been worth if for the low hassle factor.

Gordie, the company owner came to our home and was on time. He presented a plan in a timely manner. He listened to our concerns and incorporated them into the designs. Brent, the project manager, the sub-contractors, the work crew (especially Gerrick and Erik) all had high standards, put in long hours to bring in the project with minimal delays due to unforeseen problems. They didn't just put up with our small dog trying to help whenever she escaped her room,but played with her and retrieved her when she also escaped the house. They were all attentive to our nitpicking and the result was a beautiful master suite, garden room and family room within expected costs. We just have to finish the painting which we chose to do ourselves.

Found this company here on Angie's List, but also noted that they have won awards through the homebuilders association. They were very prompt with their response to my initial inquiry and came and did the estimate promptly as well. They were thorough in their measurements and asking questions about what we wanted. However, several weeks went by without either a detailed bid or plans, and they never contacted us about it. We eventually contacted them to say we had chosen another contractor. I was kind of disappointed based on the reviews here.

Jim and Jamie were great to work with, very nice and knowledgeable. I worked with Jim for the estimate and plans and Jamie was my contact once the construction started. They worked very fast to get a lot of the work done while I was away on vacation, it was great to come home to a working toilet. The quality of the work is excellent.

In general, we were very pleased with their ideas, work, attention to detail, and cleanliness. We did feel, however, that as high priced as they are, we should have had a higher level of service with responsiveness. The schedule was delayed almost a month due to late cabinets. Coordination with other activities/contractors not from Plekkenpol was not always good. For the price, we shouldn't have had to be the coordinator.

I am extremely pleased with my bathroom remodel. I had seen and very much liked Plekkenpol's work in several remodeling tours, so I was really happy when their estimate was comparable to the others I received. I pretty well had made all the design decisions myself prior to consulting with them, so I liked that they didn't insist that I use one of their designers, but they still were very helpful with providing drawings as well as some product samples and suggestions for a few remaining details like moulding choices for the wainscoting without charging a design fee. All of the people I worked with (Dan, who did the estimate; Joe, the project manager; and Tom, who did most of the work) were terrific to work with, as were the subs. There were a few hiccups such as the electrical outlets being installed right where the chair rail was to go, but they fixed those problems quickly. I love the outcome and would wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone considering a remodeling job.

They did a wonderful job with the quality of work. However, their price was expensive.

I worked with Al Paterson to help create the rough design and bid the job. Al was prompt in returning calls and had good follow up. We talked to 3 different design/build firms and chose Plekkenpol in part due to Al's customer service and commitment to maintaining the design principals of our 1920's bungalow. Darryl was our construction supervisor for the project. Both Al & Darryl were very available throughout the entire process and patient with answering all of our questions. Darryl's work crew consistency showed up on time and did the main carpentry work. They were pleasant and friendly, also willing to answer our questions. The subs that were used all seem to have a long history of working with Plekkenpol and seemed very competent. (electrical, masonry, roofing, stucco, plumbing, cabinetry, painting) We are very happy with our final result. I hear over and over again how our new kitchen looks as though it's always been a part of our house as it fits in so well.

Al and Joe were very easy to work with and had good ideas. Because of difficulty with a pre-requisite to starting the work, we had to cancel the whole project. Al from Plekkenpol was professional and we canceled our agreement with a small fee for the prep work that had already been done.

Outstanding! There were very few deviations from the original planning and estimate. Communication was, overall, excellent. The results, well, you can see for yourself.

Jamie, Pete and John did a wonderful job. They are artists, perfectionists, and take a lot of pride in a job well done. They are good communicators, always asking questions to make sure they understood our needs and expectations. And most importantly, I enjoyed having them in my home (which is a really big deal when they're there EVERY DAY for eight weeks)! ;-)

There contracting was not the best regarding punctuality. They were 2 months over the quoted time given.

The team was really a great team. They showed up on time and were respectful. Even when the job was done they came in to do a couple minor things. Good company.

It went pretty well. Originally we were talking to Plekkenpol about doing a full 3-story addition. Once we priced that work out, we decided to just go ahead with a bathroom remodel. The initial salesperson called frequently to check on our status when we were still trying to do the work. Once the work on the remodel actually started, we received a lot less communication. But the work done was high quality and relatively quick. They cleaned up very well and fixed any holes they had to make to run new pipes. The workers we met were all very nice and asked us where/how we wanted things. The work was done on time and on budget.

I did not use this company - the customer service rep asked for personal information (last name, address) before she would connect me to someone. She said the information is for their database. I did not want my personal information to be in their database lest I ended up not using them after all.

Took a couple extra phone calls to get things set up. We requested copies of specifications before work began and company contact person was slow to respond. For the actual work: Crew was on time, work well done, clean up good. Actual cost was higher than estimate.

We feel we made a mistake choosing Plekkenpol. The entire experience was stressful and upsetting to us. They never provided any detailed plans which resulted in confusion, rework, delays, and overall frustration. We stressed that we wanted to complete the job quickly, but never received any type of time line and the project dragged on for three months (while we showered at the health club). Our project manager (Al) did a poor job, and we asked for him to be removed from the project. Many of the problems we encountered would have been avoided if Plekkenpol had done the proper planning. At times we felt like we were dealing with amateurs. There was never a solid plan for anyone to work from and we were put in a position that required us to constantly monitor every detail in order to get what we wanted. This was not what we were promised. We spent a lot of time and money on this remodel and expected a professionally managed project. For what we were charged we felt cheated.

Dan promptly came out to our house for an estimate on a family room remodel. He got our estimate to us in 3 days which is amazing! He had great ideas and easy to talk to. We ended up going with a different contractor b/c they were a little more expensive and for a small job like ours we thought we would save the money. I wish I would have gone with Plekkenpol for the extra money. If it is any indication on how fast our estimate came that is how things happen with that company then I wish I would have hired them vs. who we used. We will definitely consider them for our major bathroom and kitchen remodel.

FANTASTIC! Can't say enough good things about them. On time, on budget, respectful to my home, very high quality stone tile work (and I am picky). Jim's tile work is artistry! Troy and Jamie were easy to work with and were on top of the job through-out. I'd hire these folks back in a heartbeat for any future remodeling needs.

I was very impressed with how quickly they responded to my phone call. They came to my home the very next day and provided me with an estimate over the phone within a day or two. They were accessible and friendly when I called. I decided not to use them because they were very expensive compared to an independent carpenter. I also decided to do some of the work myself (painting) to save money.

The entire experience was above expectations. We have done prior home remodeling and looked for a company with a top reputation and was not disappointed. Scott and Jamie were delightful to work with, always available and in constant contact. There was not an employee or a sub-contractor that didn't do a thorough and professional job. Questions were always answered in a timely manner and I was informed who would be coming and what task they would be doing. My pleasant surprise was the job was completed ahead of schedule, within 4 weeks. There were no surprises on the cost. During our initial visit, I was told what the estimate was, which was the high end of our budget. Plekkenpol was well worth the high end.

Scott arrived to our appointment on time and was very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. He provided an estimate within a day or two, but unfortunately it was far out of my price range. I was amazed with photos of their work samples, though, and I believe that I would be completely taken care of by Plekkenpol and would not have to worry about anything if I went with them. Their price may be high but it looks like you'll get what you pay for.
