Ricky charged me more than $900 more than the material estimate in his contract of $700. I did not require receipts as I should have before providing final payment, because Ricky specifically said he did not overcharge for material and said he kept receipts for his purchases. Upon request he was defensive and provided a handwritten list that had numerous items that were double or triple the prices Menards or Home Hepot resulting in a significant overcharge. I won't go through each line but some of the larger examples are: Caulk - $100. This shower should have required a max 2 color match tubes for $7.00 and a minimal amount of clear caulk for $7. This should have totaled $22.50 after tax implying a $77.50 overcharge Indoor electrical - $125. 15ft of 14/3 at $10, 25ft of 14/2 at $10 and $10 for 2 boxes, 3 switches and some wire nuts would have come to a max of $40 after tax implying a $85 overcharge Fasteners $100. You used pan head nails for the cement board, various screws and nails, all of of which are cheap. This should have been a max of $30 after tax implying a $70 overcharge Shims/ scap and a 2x4 - $75. 1 2x4 for $5 bucks and shims are very cheap. This should have been a max of $20 after tax implying a $55 overcharge Nipples/Plumbing. $40 2 inch nipples at $6/ a piece and 4 pex connectors. This should have been a max of $15 implying a $40 overcharge Tax/misc $150. - All items in you list were already rounded up and/or overcharged implying $150 overcharge Plastic/staples, outdoor electric, tile edging, pan liner, and insulation all had at least $20 overcharges on them as well. I contacted Ricky to try to resolve this issue and he responded by saying he did over $900 of extra work such as muding a hole he made in the wall, moving a shower nozzle down 1 foot and applying insulation. If this is what he wanted he should have quoted me a price instead of lying to me and not being able to back up his completely made up material charge of $1,538.64 +$169 for bagster $1,707.64 = vs his original quote of $700 + tbd minimal electrical. If he resolves the issue I will correct this review accordingly.
