 + -1 moreRepresentative Bill Kuhn came out to my home and looked at a small water leak issue in my basement - I had taken several corrective measures myself to eliminate the problem and wanted to see what else could be done to correct the issue. My patio slab had fallen about 2" and that would need to be corrected per Bill - however that is not a service they provide. He is referring me to another contractor - he then provided me with another helpful tip to complete after the slab was raised. I was very happy to get his opinion on the issue and although I did not use the company this time they were very responsive and knowledgeable about the issue. I would recommend you at least include them in with having them provide you with an estimate.
Description of Work: No work was completed but a referral to another company and some nice helpful advice.

 + -1 moreThis happened a few weeks ago, but I am not sure of the exact date, but I had contacted the company to schedule an appointment to get an estimate for waterproofing our basement. We had decided on a date a little over a week after I had called them. A day before the scheduled appointment, a person called and told us that they do not work on finished basements. It was very disappointing because we had explained that it was finished when we called the first time.

 + 0 moreGreat! Bill came and estimated, said I could be in the schedule about 3 weeks out but had another job move or finish so came in a week. Crew called to see if they could come earlier than projected that day. We walked through the process and reviewed what needed to be done. When estimate was done all vegetation along the side of the house was to be removed, I forgot to clarify if that included the large bush at corner of the house which I really wanted removed. The team removed it for me and disposed of the huge root ball. They also went the extra mile when I mentioned now that they had it all looking so nice I better get out there and do my are about 8 foot in the front. The next time I came out, they had taken care of it for me. The leader said, I had a little extra material so thought I would do it. Absolutely unexpected but what a gift!!
Description of Work: Reinforced a basement wall to prevent further deterioration. Then landscaped the outside to prevent further water damage in basement.

They did the entire job in 1 1/2 days. It was amazing! The crew cleaned up great after, regraded the exterior and rerouted the down spouts too. Very pleased with this job.
Description of Work: Rebuilt basement foundation wall damaged by water. Trenched and removed all damaged and weakened cinder blocks, rebuilt wall section about 16', waterproofed, core filled the blocks with concrete and regraded the exterior.

 + 0 moreThe bricklayer, Scott, did an excellent job. Scott was on time, very professional, and paid attention to all details for the job. Scott even removed all the plant pots on the porch before the job and replaced them after he was done. He washed the porch from dust and cleaned the porch. He was easy to work with and explained what he was going to do and proceeded exactly as he described. Super job!

Description of Work: I left a message with Gardner with my name, number, and a description of the work I'd like done (repair and concrete apron). Two days passed and I hadn't heard back. UPDATE: They called on the 3rd day. They explained that they are probably too busy to come out as soon as I'd like them to. I decided to go with a different provider.

 + 1 moreWe interviewed three other contractors before we decided to work with Gardner Construction. The main reason we chose this contractor is because of the the extreme professionalism of Seth and his crew. We spent a couple of weeks figuring out the details and each time we asked a question we got a timely response. We would go back and forth on what we wanted to include in the bid and Seth would always give an update as quickly as possible. They were always on time, polite and cleaned up after each visit. The crew especially Seth were very knowledgable on concrete issues were having with our garage, foundation and driveway. In the end Seth and his crew went above and beyond their job each day they were at our house. I would recommend this company to others who are in need.
Description of Work: Fixed corner of the foundation, stabilized the foundation, added a outside window well, fixed part of the garage floor.

 + 0 moreI had Gardner Construction resurface some crumbling concrete block along two sides of my home's foundation. They also applied caulk to a gap that existed between the foundation and an adjacent sidewalk. They were great. The foundation looks much better and it is guaranteed to not break apart. When I saw the deterioration on our home's foundation I was very concerned, but Seth from Gardner ensured me that it could be repaired relatively easily. As for the caulking, Seth gave me detailed instructions on how to do it myself, but because of time and a complete lack of do-it-yourself skills I asked if they could do it. So they came back and did that as well. The price was competitive with two other contractors that gave bids and the quality was first rate. They were also able to get it done very quickly.
Description of Work: Resurfaced concrete block on two sides of foundation and caulked between foundation and adjacent sidewalk.

 + 0 moreLook, these folks are the absolute best at what they do. My understanding is that the owners treat the employees really well and everyone pretty much has been with the company for years and years. They are professionals in every sense of the word. Thy don't just show up for work, they are dedicated, serious-minded, and hard-working problem solvers. When their foreman, Ryan, looked inside the house, he modified what was originally proposed to provide the best solution using the best material. This is the second time I've used this company. Several years ago, they did some excavating and masonry work and also did a fantastic job back then. It's nice to know that nothing has changed.
Description of Work: Contractor dug out organic material and regraded area by front of house with class 5, covered with sheeting and filled with landscape rocks. Cut down expansion material and sealed with caulk. Installed a Vent-Mat edging and French drain tile along an interior wall to feed nto the existing sump pump basket.

Scheduled the work done and Seth and Corey that did the work were very knowledgeable and professional in there work. They corrected the drainage also before putting in the new sidewalk. They were very pleasant and also entertaining with how they work together it made their time enjoyable and also made me realize how much they like what they do. I would definitely recommend them. Actually encouraged my next door neighbors that have garage floor problems to contact them.

 + 0 moreWe are very grateful for every person that was here. I have no doubts they were quite busy and yet Gardner Construction cut no corners, or made us feel like they were doing us any favors. They were awesome! Thank you.
Description of Work: After all this rain, we had water coming into our basement. For two days my husband, daughter and I had been using shop vacs to try and stop some of the damage. By Wednesday morning, we were exhausted. After reviewing providers in Angie's List we made a list of 3 firms to call for help. After talking to Leanne (and emptying containers again) I made no more calls. Bill Kuhn, our estimator, stopped by shortly after I called. He reviewed our situation, explained the waterproofing system they could do, and let us know he would do what he could. He later said they could give us some relief by installing a sump pump to help get the water out. What happened later that day was a miracle to this sleep deprived, water logged family. By 2 pm that afternoon, a team of professionals were on the job. The waterproofing system involves drain tile on the inside of the house. They quickly opened the cement floor and started carrying cement and water out of the basement. Our job went from getting rid of the water to clearing out the basement. The feeling of relief and the knowledge we were in good hands is so hard to put into words. Our basement is dry, we are confident that it will stay dry. These guys jack hammered a trench all the way around the basement, carried out all the debris up the stairs, installed the water proofing system, replaced the cement in less than two days. A sump pump with the back up was also installed. There was hardly any dust and there was nothing left to say they had even been there. No more water and we could finally sleep.

 + 2 moreThis contractor was fantastic from the get go. I received a call back immediately from Leanne who was very accommodating in scheduling an estimate time that worked for me. Seth came out as scheduled to give me an estimate and followed-up a few times by phone to confirm the time he would be back to complete the work after I gave the go ahead. It was great to have the guy who estimated the work also do the work. Seth was punctual and professional. We had the estimate done on Monday and the work completed on Wednesday. The work was done efficiently and they met all of my expectations. They clearly took the fear out of getting the work done. I highly recommend this contractor.

 + 0 moreVery professionally done.Called,came on time and spent considerable time sorting out the problems with the concrete which included unexpected repair of concrete blocks under garage flor and cracks in the blocks of the house.These were extra costs but understandable considering the additional time to uncover,patch and repair of these items.Very good crew and obviously have worked together for a while-no friction concerns with team members doing job.The group just worked very well together and very very polite and professional. They did an extremely fine job in finishing the concrete -very smooth and clean.also great that were able to haul away all old concrete without need for a dumpster and moved new concrete from the street by hand to avoid damage to driveway.All in all they have 4-6 workers on site on both takeout and install for at least 3-4 hours .All the members knew their jobs .Would definitely use again for concrete work and other if needed.

As he promised, he came with his team & completed the work in the time frame he told us. It was very nice that they did this in a short notice before it started snowing. It was cold & the ground was freezing. Seth took extra day (from his weekend) to prepare the ground & warm it so that they would be able to dig. We were very impressed with the quality work, how quickly it got done, & reasonable price.

Jerry was able to come to our house at 7:30am the following day to assess the cause of the water infiltration and took the time to explain the how/why/and options for remedy. His crew came the following Monday morning and completed the work within a few hours. I did not comment on pricing because we were so impressed with their professionalism, we did not feel the need to seek additional quotes. We could not be happier with their work and their crew.

Seth came out and did an estimate for us and gave us many options, yet was very honest and pointed out which options would be best to consider, which were overkill for our problem, and which might not be enough. He was very fair in all his discussions and did not try any upselling to get us to do more than we needed. Seth providied us with an estimate right on site and it only took about 20 minutes. Upon deciding to do the work Seth was very accomodating to our needs so we could have someone home. The crew that did the work was actually early, and only took about 1/3 of the time they thought it might. The area they completed the work was spotless when they were done. We are very pleased we went with Seth and Gardner and would HIGHLY recommend their services to others who have basement water issues. Being very wary of hiring contractors and concerned about getting shafted Gardner proved to be the complete opposite. Fair, reasonably priced, punctual, great communication, polite and conscientious workers, we have nothing but complete happiness with teh job. Thanks you Seth, and thank you Gardner for being so AWESOME!

 + -1 moreScheduling the visit to come for an estimate, the visit itself, and the proposal were all very professional.
Description of Work: Have been having trouble with water in the basement the last couple of years. I got bids from 3 companies to put in a drain tile system. Gardner came in the highest, at $8190. This price would not have included accessing the basement perimeter or reconstruction after the project was complete. This means I would have had to hire someone else to come in and take the kitchenette off the wall. The proposal states: "Does not include Laundry Room.. Might not be able to do west wall due to brick. If we can, it will only go to the fireplace, others to repair tile floor. All items need to be away from the walls at least four feet." The job ended up going to J& M Concrete and Waterproofing. They were able to do the entire perimeter, the did not require me to hire someone else to remove the kitchen. They did get under the fire place, laundry room, and brick wall mentioned. $6040 total- about $2k cheaper than Gardner. Reconstruction after drain tile installation was still my responsibility as it was in Gardners proposal. ( I also got a bid from Standard Water Control Systems, Inc. They came in around $6500.)
