Responsive to initial call and came on time for estimate. Looked over the situation with water leaking from above. Gave two estimates...one to deal with damage caused by water coming in and the other a complete drain tile installation. I think he could tell I was not wanting to go that far and the quote just to clean up the area and do some minor waterproofing was very high as I don't think that is what they want to be doing. From a general handyman I got some other ideas about shutting off the irrigation in that area and also not to expect a well room to be totally dry...in fairness Randy gave me his solution but I felt it exceeded what I wanted to do. Only by putting in the drain tile could he guarantee the job. I'm sure if you have a wet basement problem he would do a good job of installing the drain tile.
Description of Work: Called to get help with a "well room" problem in our basement...problem had gotten worse with installation of irrigation system. Randy came out and gave estimate.

I called him yesterday, I found out I had a plumbing problem. The job was not very clean, didn't clean up very well. They are honest, very good. Price I thought was a little over priced, but I had to do it.
Description of Work: He came and said he would charge $2,600 to put in sump pump and basket, removing a lot of concrete from the basement. He brought 2 other people to work with him. It took a good amount of the day.

The day after I called they came to do the esitmate. They were very profesional and did great work. They were good to squeeze us in between two jobs. The day they did part of the cement pouring it was raining and they set up some tarp so they could put down the cement. They came back the next day to finish the job and clean up.
Description of Work: They tore out the old sidewalk and installed a sidewalk and a single step.

Pulling up carpet in my 100-year old basement I found a section of concrete with HOLES down to the dirt, and some damp patches. Rest of the floor seemed ok. Some estimators gave options of sump pump, which didn't seem right to me--seemed like the problem was confined to this section. Randy diagnosed it as a local problem with this section, removed and re-poured at minimal charge. He was prompt, considerate (called when he was stuck in traffic), upfront as to his work schedule, his crew left everything clean and neat. He also diagnosed a problem with peeling of the basement walls (holes in the walls were previously patched with drywall patch, not concrete!).
Description of Work: Removed 3 x 6 section of basement floor and re-poured (all hand work).

Randy's estimate was spot on and his employees were great. Very professional. They answered all my questions and did a fantastic job on the wall. They arrived when they said they would and finished the wall in 2 days. One of the guys came back 2 days later to caulk the gap because the cement had to dry first. They cleaned up everything and, since they used my garden hose, they coiled it up for me. (I never coil it--it's a pain) They left the work site cleaner than they found it.
Description of Work: The foundation wall along the driveway had bowed. Randy gave me an estimate to corefill the concrete block wall plus caulk the gap that had developed between the wall and the driveway. Corefilling entailed cutting holes in the blocks, inserting rebar every few feet and then filling the blocks with cement. He would also tuckpoint the cracks that were crumbling and clean up the mess. He said it would take 2 days.

Randy Gardner met with me Thursday at the agreed-on time. He assessed the problem, recommended the fix, and estimated the costs. He arrived with his crew the next day, protected everything from dust, finished all the work in about six hours. The entire job site was left clean. The work seems to have fixed the problem.
Description of Work: Had water problem in basement of new addition. Basement was built with drain tiles on both exterior and interior sides of footings. Heavy rains would cause water to enter at the bottom of one wall. Gardner excavated concrete along that wall and around stairs, installed new drainage system, filled in and re-surfaced new concrete.

Excellent. They responded quickly when I had a basement full of water, gave me an estimate, and then fit us in because we had to leave town within several days and didn't want to come home to a basement full of water. They also provided us with an estimate for exterior work to reduce leakage through a cracked foundation. Their ability to perform both interior (drain tile) and exterior (landscaping and patching) services is unusual; most companies only provide one or the other. We are now waiting to see if the exterior work is necessary and, if so, we will most likely have them do it. Randy Gardner was the one who came out to do the estimate and also start and supervise the jobs. He was excellent. Very thoughtful, helpful, timely, and responsive.
Description of Work: They installed drain tile and a sump pump along one wall of our basement and gave us an estimate for exterior work with landscaping and grading as necessary, if water leakage through cracks in the foundation continues in heavy rains.

Randy had the lowest bid, bid the drain tile separately from the floor, included rebar for the floor and came out a second time to answer additional questions. To gain access to the side basement door, a portion of chain-link fence was taken apart. The old floor was hauled up the stairs by hand and wheelbarrowed into trucks. When they poured concrete, they wheelbarrowed it in though a side window. The concrete pad for the water heater was perfectly smooth. When the first half of the floor was poured the finish on that showed the trowel marks. I mentioned this and the second half of the floor is smoother, bot not quite as smooth as we had imagined. A piece of wood from the center beam was chipped out (I glued it back), a brick was broken getting a foundation post out, links were broken reinstalling the fence, and three splash blocks under our downspouts were broken. Two of the splash blocks were old windows improvised by the previous owner and the broken glass was never cleaned up.
Description of Work: Randy and his crew tore out our entire basement floor, installed 106 ft. of drain tile with a basket for a sump pump, took out foundation posts after jacking up the center support beam, poured four 3 ft. sq. foundation pads, poured 2 ft. sq. pad for water heater, cut foundation posts to new size and reinstalled on top of new foundation blocks, suspended the basement stairs, and poured a new concrete floor with rebar in two pourings over two days. Additionally, they helped carry a heavy workbench out of the basement, saved two limestone foundation pads and carried them out of the house to where we could landscape with them, and moved the washer, drier, and water heater out of the way in the basement. The entire project was completed in 4 days of work.

Randy is very personable and great to work with. He came out promptly to give us an estimate on our project(s). His crew was always prompt and hard-working and everything was completed on schedule. We would definitely work with them again.

Randy called to make appointment to offer estimate. He came when he said he would, and followed-up with a written estimate. He also helped us make choices for color of concrete. Workers came when they said they would, and stuck with the job until it was finished (unless it rained). They were all very courteous. To make the egress windows, a short flagstone wall had to be removed. It was replaced in part when egress window complete to look 'finished' again. When the entire job was complete, they left everything 'spit-spot'. We were pleased with the result.
Description of Work: Tore out front brick stoop, replaced with colored concrete. (Replaced due to rotting wood/cracks in foundation). Also hired them to put in 2 egress windows. This was a fairly labor-intensive and lengthy project.

The drain tile was originally around 2 walls. This was just before the big rainstorms in August. They were very quick and tidy - my husband was home when the work was being done and said he was impressed with how they worked. That evening I had to call them about the AC which had been turned off and the storm door which they had unhooked from the hydraulic closer and they told me how to fix the problems. The first big rain storm we had after that we got water in the basement and I called them. Randy came out the next day and installed about 8 more feet of drain tile along the third wall and put on an extension to the downspout outside (we did have to pay additional for this cost is total for both calls). Very pleasant to work with, very professional EXCELLENT customer service. One thing to note is they can UNHOOK your gas dryer but are not allowed to hook it up again. The homeowner can do it or a plumber. Randy did give me the name of a man who would do this for us.

Randy's bid was so high, I feel like he didn't even want the job. It was a complete waste of my time because I couldn't even take him seriously based on the bid I received. I had the project evaluated by other Angie's List concrete contractors, and ended up paying 40% less than G Gardner quoted me. The company I used was Litz Concrete. The bid from Litz was 40% less than G Gardner, and they did high quality work. Randy Gardner was friendly, but his bid was not.

Excellent responsiveness. Understood the urgency of the job because they had to complete work before my other contractor could finish new wooden steps. Worked directly/coordinated well with that contractor. They did start one day later than planned, but called to let me know they were going to come the next day and they did. Work was performed quickly because they had three guys working on it. Very easy to work with and made the project hassle free. Quality of work performed was very good too.

Excellent. They came on time the day they promised to be here. They did a terrific job of blocking off the work area in the basement to prevent concrete dust from flying everywhere and did a very nice job of cleaning up afterwards. The same can be said for the digging up and replacing of the front yard sod for rerouting the pipes. And the concrete patching turned out very nice. The best part is that within a week of the work being done, we had a heavy rainstorm, and no water seeped into the basement and no water backed up from the sump pump pipes.
Description of Work: They installed drain tiles around our basement fireplace and connected those new drain tiles to the existing drain tiles (which ran up to the sides of the fireplace but not in front of it). The purpose was to stop the water seepage that was coming in around the fireplace. They also patched the separation between the concrete slabs of our driveway. They also re-routed our sump pump pipes in our front yard, which had frozen and backed up at the end of winter, resulting in a huge pool of standing water around the front of our house and walkway. They changed the type of pipes used as well as the way the water ran out of the pipes to allow for free flow toward the end of the yard.

Outstanding!! Randy was very professional, clear communicator, and easy to work with. Very respectful of the house/yard; big plastic sheets were put up to control dust, minimal cement residue in yard. The job went exactly as explained/planned, finished in two days, and work area was left in very clean condition. Workmanship is very well done. I'd hire them again in flash!

It took a long time to get on the schedule, but once they arrived on the job, work proceeded as arranged. One odd thing happened. When the work was being completed, I inquired about the cost of replacing a portion of the sidewalk which had been removed. They quote given that day was $600. I said I had to think about it, and later when I called for a bid, the price was $1400. I understand that when you put pen to paper things can sometimes increase, but to be off by that much seems strange to me. So while I think Randy did a fine job, I don't know if I will work with him again.

THE PRICE OF $600 FOR THE SIDEWALK REPLACEMENT WOULD HAVE BEEN HONORED IF IT WAS DONE WHILE THE CREW WAS AT THAT LOCATION COMPLETING THE OTHER WORK WE WERE HIRED TO PERFORM. WE SHOULD HAVE LET THE HOMEOWNER KNOW THAT IF THE SIDEWALK WAS INSTALLED ON A SEPARATE OCCASION WE WOULD NEED TO INCREASE THE PRICE IN ORDER TO ADD IN LABOR COSTS.

Randy was very responsive with the initial estimate, although it took over 1 month to get the work scheduled.
