Bloomington Heating & Air Conditioning

We thoroughly researched 3 different brands of furnace/AC units and met with 6 different contractors while weighing our options. We narrowed our options to 2 top rated and well reviewed brands; and ultimately selected an energy efficient Carrier furnace, AC, programmable thermostat, and whole house humidifier. My husband and I chose Bloomington Heating & Air Conditioning to perform the installation because we were very pleased with their honesty and professionalism, the quality of their product, and the competitive quote they provided. We liked how Scott, the owner, personally came to our home to meet with us. He arrived on time and came prepared with information about our options. Once we decided on the options that best met our needs, he provided an itemized quote for our consideration. I followed up with phone call and e-mail inquiries regarding the equipment, installation, warranties and rebates. Janis addressed my questions and concerns; and consistently provided a response within 1-2 business days. They pulled a city permit before any labor was performed and came with permit in hand on the morning of the scheduled installation. Scott stopped by to drop off some supplies, before Ivan and Jeff came to replace our 28-year-old furnace and AC. It took a day's work to remove the old equipment and install the new equipment. Ivan and Jeff cleaned up after themselves once their work was complete. An inspection was performed the following morning. The inspector suggested that a slight adjustment be made to the upward pitch of a vent. I contacted Scott. Ivan promptly arrived to make the adjustment. Because of Scott and Ivan's quick turn around time, the inspector was able to return and approve the correction same day. Meticulous. Janis completed and submitted all of the necessary paperwork for the rebates. We've since received all rebates from the manufacturing, gas, and electric companies. We want to thank everyone at Bloomington Heating & Air Conditioning for taking care of our home and for providing a positive experience. The equipment you installed has performed well for us.

Last spring we started looking at replacing our A/C unit. During that process it became clear that it would be in our best interest to wait one year and replace both our A/C and furnace. We decided to wait a year so we could save up the money and pay cash. In our vetting of companies to use we decided on Bloomington Heating and A/C due to their prices and the great service we have had from them in maintaining our old units. As life wouldn't have it our furnace stopped working on 2/25/16. We promptly called them and they scheduled to come out the next day to replace our furnace. They came out that day to make sure they were ready for the install and had enough heat for the night. On the 26th they arrived in promptly in the morning and worked all day at replacing our furnace and prepping for the new A/C unit to go in when it warms up enough. They also went over and above and moved our vent lines to the side of the house. Everything was left cleaned up and in working order. We were very happy with the quick turn around time. The price is the full quote before rebates and cash discounts. I highly recommend working with Scott and his team at Bloomington Heating and A/C.

It was the first really hot weekend this summer and I came home to an air conditioner that wasn't working. I called Scott (Bloomington HVAC) and got the after hours answering service. They said they would contact Scott and it would be an hour or two. Scott called back in a few minutes and said he was on his way. Scott said that the error code indicated that the AC unit was not connected, and he was puzzled by that. After a few minutes outside, he resolved the problem -- mice had found a way under my siding and were using the wire to the outside AC compressor to get through a small hole into my foundation blocks. Scott made a temporary fix and assured me that he would be back later in the week to make a permanent fix. I can't image getting better service from a company, let alone personal service from the owner after hours on a Friday. I would recommend that anyone looking for heating and/or air conditioning look no further than Scott and Bloomington Heating and Air conditioning.

This is just the latest of many systems we have had installed by BHAC in both of our homes over the last 20 years. We have worked with BHAC on full furnace and air conditioning systems for our previous home, and now our current home. They have always had our best interests at heart, have been very responsive, punctual and professional, and provided us with high quality, energy efficient, and durable products. Frankly, we wouldn't consider working with any other company when we need heating or air conditioning service.

They had the best price, their demeanor was absolutely wonderful, and they were outstanding.

We bought a new furnace and air conditioner from Bloomington Heating and Air Conditioning about a year and a half ago. At that time we appreciated working with Scott and his office staff on the installation of the new furnace and air conditioner. We had the same positive experience in replacing the faulty thermostat which was under warranty. In our experience with Bloomington Heating and Air Conditioning, we have found them to be punctual, knowledgeable, professional, helpful, and very pleasant to work with.

The heat was good so I think we had no problems with that. We had a lower quoted price from another company but we liked Bloomington Heating & Air so my husband literally showed them the estimate, asked them to match it and he did. This guy has had the same people working for him, unlike other companies we quoted who are not local. They got rid of the old heater and the old air and then put it back and replaced it. We enjoyed the guy. We had five or six estimates and we liked that guy the best. My husband is a quadriplegic and my vision is not the best. He was a nice guy to say he would come out and replace the filter instead of me having to do it. He provided the kind of customer service that we like. Everything about their responsiveness and punctuality was great.

The furnace in the house I'm renovating stopped working on Wednesday January 7th. I thought it was just that the thermostat had quit working. So I bought the same Honeywell model and hooked it up. It displayed the same message as the old thermostat: LO. I called CenterPoint Energy and they couldn't get a technician out until the following Wednesday. Then my wife went through Angies List and requested service from Bloomington Heating & Air. I got a call the next morning from a gal (sorry I can't remember her name) and explained my situation. She told me there were no open times even for Friday but they would determine late Friday afternoon if someone could come out. She said otherwise she could schedule me for Monday between 10 and 12. I told her I was very concerned about the pipes freezing and bursting. I asked her if I should shut off the water supply but she wasn't sure. She said she would call a tech and find out. She called back later with some suggestions. I followed as many of the suggestions as I could and then I went home and just wondered what was going to happen because there was already ice in the toilet and pipes. Then on Friday almost like divine intervention Scott Newgaard of Bloomington Heating & Air called at 5 p.m. and said he would be over in 20 minutes. Scott took on my furnace job after his full week of work. It's been my experience that there aren't many contractors or subcontractors out there that will do that. Scott explained to me that when the temperature in the house goes below 40 degrees this Honeywell thermostat automatically shuts down and displays the message LO which means the room temperature is too low for the thermostat to work. He jump started the furnace after replacing two damaged terminals and was able to start it. Then he removed the front part of the thermostat, brought it to the furnace and warmed it up to 45 degrees. He reconnected it to the wall plate and could then control the furnace from there. He set the thermostat to 65 degrees and we watched the room temp move from 41 to 46. Then Scott knew it was functioning properly and we could leave. I told Scott how very much appreciative I was of the fact that he went above and beyond the call of duty and would highly recommend his work. He charged me a very reasonable price of $100 but I added a $50 tip because of how much his service had relieved my stress and lifted a heavy burden. I think I definitely got the better of the deal. He told me that he knew he had to come and try to fix my furnace otherwise he would be thinking about it all weekend long not knowing if there would be water damage. That said a lot to me about his character.

The crew were here on the appointed day and had the main units in place by the end of the day, Both units are the top of the line with computerized thermostat. As the new color thermostat can be controlled from the computer or cell phone, it required a great deal of technical information all of which were supplied by the owner after all were installed. Both the owner and crew were excellent supplying all the necessary information and with connections to the unit. All our calls were answered properly and on time. A new electrical box was also installed on the exterior of our home replacing the old rusted one. Both units have been working great since installation-quiet and smooth.

The owner of the company comes to your home to provide estimates and his workers are reliable. Scheduling with their office manager is fantastic. Their pricing is competitive.

I can't say enough good things about this company. Scott came out to give me an estimate, my blower went out in my furnace. (Scott is one of the nicest people on the planet.) It was 22 years old, so I didn't know that it was worth fixing. He agreed. But, he put in a used blower the very next week, to tide me over until my install date for a new furnace...at no extra charge. I sure appreciated that, being it has been hot this summer and I didn't want to go without air conditioning. The installers were very polite and neat, they cleaned up after themselves, I didn't find any sawdust or dirt in the repair area. (they had to install a discharge pipe that runs along the ceiling of my crawlspace and I was concerned that I would have sawdust all over my stored items from the holes they had to drill) This company sent in all four of my rebates for me, which saved me a big headache. After the install, I asked Scott to come out and look at my furnace thermometer, as they had forgotten to check this out. Scott was very pleasant and assured me it was working fine. Hats off to this company for knowing what great customer service looks like! I would highly recommend them and used them once in the past, to fix my chimney on the roof, which had a missing piece that blew away. That experience was equally pleasant. And, the secretary at the office was very knowledgeable about all the rebates, etc. Additionally, they have a deal where you can get financing at 0% for one year. How can you beat all that? :)

Had another company first and they said it was hopeless and I would need a new furnace and air conditioner. Scott came out and realized it was a $9.00 part. The air conditioner is working wonderfully and when we're ready to upgrade our furnace we'll be getting a bid from Bloomington Heating & Air Conditioning.

My furnace (a brand not normally serviced in the area) needed a tune-up and had been intermittently short cycling. After a successful tune-up the short cycling was still occurring, and after a second visit it turned out one of the safety switches was bad and no parts were available in the area. The technician went out of the way to find a part on short notice and install it while providing a way to keep the house heated in the short term until the part could be installed.

As it turned out, one of the small components in the front of the furnace went bad, which rarely happens according to Scott, but told me it could only be two things. Either the main fan or the smaller unit with a mini-fan, and he brought both just to be safe and this turned out to be the problem. He was fully prepared and brought everything he needed to get the unit working within minutes. Scott knows the Carrier products inside and out and he replaced the unit in about 15 minutes and we were back in business with heat. This Carrier 100,000 BTU furnace unit has performed extremely well over the last 3 years and my heating bills have dropped quite substantially. Part of this was due to lower energy costs from our Centerpoint Engergy, but a big part was from the new furnace and new Zone System that Scott and his crew installed. New thermostats, with timers, zoning, HIGH efficiency furnace equals a win-win for everybody. I like the variable speed fan that is always on and continually supplies us with fresh air 24 hours a day in all seasons. I usually use Angie's List for everything I do, (and I do love Angie's List), but strangely enough, my high school buddy that I have known for over 40 years happens, is the City of Bloomington, MN Heating and Cooling Inspectors for the city and he highly suggested that I consider two contractors and Bloomington Heating and Cooling was one of the recommendations and believe me, it was a smart move on my part. I cannot say enough about the level of professionalism and service that I have received from the firm. Scott Newgard came out to my house after year one for a furnace check up without charge and this was a nice touch. They are EXTREMELY responsive and will exceed your expectations. I would absolutely recommend this firm if you are considering replacing or servicing your AC or Furnace. I shopped around extensively and they were also priced right, which was an important factor.

It is with great pleasure that I write this review of Bloomington Heating and Air Conditioning. It was late August with outside temps approaching 100 and our 21 year old furnace fan stopped working making our AC inoperable. The temps in the house were approaching 90's with high humidity. I called Bloomington Heating and AC and was told their schedule that day was full - at 4:30 in the afternoon Scott called to see if I might be available early evening. Upon arrival Scott first wanted to see our system - the furnace was no longer be supported with parts because of its age and thus there was no fan motors available. I told Scott that I had received a new system quote earlier that day and was interested in a complete system. After inspectin our system he asked if he could remove the fan motor to see if they might have anything in the shop that would get us up and running short term - I told him no problem. Then we sat down and went thru a quote. After we agreed on the system I asked him how much it would be for the temporary service if that had a solution. His response was no charge - regardless of who we selected for the replacement system. The next day his office called in the morning and said they thought they had a short term solution and when would I be available. I had meetings that day but told them I would leave the front door open - I returned from a lunch meeting to a working AC system and temps quickly fell. Two weeks later the new system was installed - we love it- they completed all the rebate forms- and took all the time I needed to get comfortable with the new Thermostat. Over 40 years of home ownership Bloomington Heating and Air Conditioning raised the bar higher than any company that I have had the pleasure of working with - they are Rockstars- and I highly recommend anyone looking for heating and/or air conditioning services contact. They know how to provide the highest level of customer service at a fair price. Give them a call!!!

I called to get an estimate - a return call was received the same day. The owner came later that day and could not have been nicer! Fully explained our options and gave us a quote. We compared his quote to another one we had and it was lower. We decided to go with BH&A mostly because of other reviews and the promptness of the estimate - the price itself was a bonus. They came out the next week and the two installers were very professional and courteous. They completely cleaned up the areas they were in, they were done in less than the time allotted and even replaced my Aprilaire filter while they were in the furnace room. I would definitely use them again!

The service tech inspected my A/C for a variety of problems that could have caused my unit to non-function. The tech determined it was an electrical problem in an exterior wall, (we later learned it was caused by a cable t.v. installer.) The service tech called an electrician for me who was able to come out a.s.a.p. The A/C service call fee was reasonable for the time and effort provided.

Scott came to the house to examine my existing furnace and AC system. He noted that the AC compressor had been replaced some years back but not the A-coil in the furnace. The furnace was over 30 years old as was the coil. He quoted replacements for the furnace and two different efficiencies (prices) as well as replacing just the A-coil or both the A-coil and outside condenser. Scott was one of four contractors I had bid the job, including Costco's preferred contractor. His pricing easily beat all the other and he answered all my questions very well. Ultimately I selected Bloomington Heating and Air Conditioning to do the work. They arrived on time with all the materials needed for the job. Scott and Ivan tackled the job together. With the two of them it took about ten hours to get all the old equipment out and install the new equipment. About half that time was piping the new intake and exhaust PVC pipes through the basement and out the side of the house. They tested everything and provided me with all the appropriate paperwork for the city inspection, invoicing and the various rebates from the utility companies. When they left they cleaned up all the debris and the basement looked better than when they arrived. The system has been running now for two months and works exactly as expected. I highly recommend these professionals.

They installed our air conditioner in January and just came out to test it in May, so they could submit our rebate for us. The crew was professional and honest, courteous and timely. They were easy to ask questions of and you can tell they take pride in what they do.

They were very nice and honest with me about my chimney. I would definitely recommend them.

Fantastic!!! I could not be happier with the service this company provided! Scott came to give me an estimate to raise the chimney for our furnace so it meets code and is done before our new roof is installed. I was very impressed with him! He was very thorough and professional in explaining the work to be done. We still needed to get the roof scheduled, so I told Scott I would set an appt. once I knew when the date the roof would be done. I set the appt., and, not once, but twice, had to reschedule and move the appt. up earlier than thought. Both times I called and spoke with the receptionist, she called Scott, and then very promptly got back to me and we were able to set a new appt. that worked well for everyone. This morning, Scott and Ivan arrived on time! They were both very professional and personable. They worked quickly and efficiently. Like every other project in this house, they ran into more work than expected! Rather that just having to add a section of pipe to extend it, they found that the entire thing from the roof to the furnace was very deteriorated! Scott ran to their shop to get the extra supplies needed. He came back so quickly, I would have thought the supply shop was around the corner! Scott and Ivan finished the job in the time Scott originally thought the job would take, without running into issues! When they were done, Scott informed me that he was not going to charge me more than he originally estimated the work at, even though they ran into extra work and extra supplies because he did not notice the pipe being deteriorated when he was first here, which I would not have expected him to notice giving the situation and job to be done. I did not expect him to not charge more, but I really appreciated it! Overall, this was a WONDERFUL experience! They were professional, honest, hard-working, thorough and friendly, to name a few! I look forward to my furnace or air conditioner needing replacement someday so I can hire him back for a new one! :) I would very highly recommend this company to anyone! P.S. These guys were very clean and left no trace of being here! I am certain that my floors in the furnace room are cleaner than they were before they came!

Everything was on schedule and completed in estimated time.

Came out and gave me a clear estimate and 3 options (low, medium and high cost options). Agreed to move forward to service and scheduled for the date I requested (approx. 3 weeks from estimate date). Work completed in one day replacing furnace, a/c, and humidifier. I would recommend getting multiple estimates including these guys. I did and went with them-happy I did.

These guys were great. From the office manger to the owner of the company. Everything went according to plan.

I could have saved their time and mine by looking for a Ruud dealer to begin with, since this was an emergency repair.
