Description of Work: Addison returned our phone calls promptly and arranged a time for an estimate quickly. He was willing to work around our schedule. We had a number of special requirements for the roof work and these were all handled in the estimate, which was very fair and competitive with the other two companies we received bids from. The work date was scheduled within a couple weeks of signing the contract and everything went very well. We experienced no problems when the first big rain hit the same night as the roof was installed. Gutter work was done a couple weeks later with no issues. We enjoyed working with Addison and the job has been completed promptly and per requirements.

Description of Work: Wright At Home Services reroofed our house in May 2008. Our contacts were with President Bob Wright. We were very pleased with the planning phase and with the work. On June 25, 2010 we got 3” of rain in about an hour and had a leak at a soil stack on the house roof, with water running down the pipe and visible in the basement. Bob came promptly and studied the matter. He determined that a different type of pipe jack would be better due to the low slope of the roof. He replaced the pipe jack under his warranty. The next time it rained significantly, the pipe leaked again. Bob came back promptly, again under the warranty. He tested various things with a hose and sprayer that we wouldn’t have thought of. He determined that the problem was at the connection of the pipe below the roof. That meant the problem was not a result of the roofing job. We now needed a plumber. We scheduled the plumber and Bob together so Bob could remove pipe jack #2 and pull up some shingles. The plumber was able to make the repair and Bob installed pipe jack #3. By rights Bob should have charged for this visit since the problem was not related to his roofing job, but he did not. Bob Wright went way above and beyond in his service. We highly recommend Wright at Home Services.

Work was not done due to price.
Description of Work: I requested a bid for a house/garage roofing job that I needed to have done fairly quickly. I was also looking for something middle-of-the-road (25 year shingle, nothing fancy) and expressed that clearly. Two layers of shingles aldo needed to be removed and disposed of. They were very responsive and were able to set up an appointment for me in what amounts to the following business day. Dan came out and did the assessment. He was actually early and courteous. I had no problems with the experience. The price, however, was another story. Of the three Angie's List-listed contractor bids I got for the job (a simple 1942 roof, 900sq ft foundation), the bid was $2500-3000 more for _just_ the shingles. In addition, another $5000 was estimated for possible decking replacement that none of the others called out as needing to be done (including the home inspector that looked at it 4 days prior). Because of this price delta, I decided to use another contractor. I have no complaints about the interaction that I had with the company, however, the pricing left a lot to be desired. Additionally, I didn't like the clause in the contract that required me to allow advertising on the property. I think that this clause is rather presumptuous, though I can understand their desire to do so. It should still be my option.

First of all I want to thank this member for the three "A's" he gave us. As far as the sign clause, we would never put a sign in the yard without prior permission. We will consider taking the clause out if it becomes a issue for homeowners. "Reconsideration of pricing structure" is just not financially feasible. The fact of the matter is materials have increased by 50% in the past year due to the demand from all of the storms we have experienced. We all pay about the same price for materials. We only use high quality products. We do not compromise products for price. The only compromise there could be is in the labor. We have the same roofing crews and we pay them standard rates for their services. To breakdown this job I need to give detail on the pricing. First of all " a simple 1942 900 square foot foundation" it not a as "simple" as stated, simply not true, this house was a 12/12 two layer tear off with a 14/12 dormer. We bid the house only roof for 6,197.00, the garage was bid at $2,429.00. The total square on this project was 22 square. If we were 2500 to 3000 more just for the shingling that means the contractor bid this roof at $255.00 to $278.00 per square. Our pricing for shingles and accessories is app. $110.00 per square our labor is $100.00 per square, dumpster fees are $265.00, permits can run app $100.00,commissions are app $20 to $25 per square and project managers run about $10.00 per square So, to breakdown the price our cost is app $257.00 per square. There is no mark up factored into these numbers. The only way a contractor could do this job is if they were to do it themselves as an owner and make the money on the labor or pay substandard rates to the roofers. Most owners don't do the roofing. As far as the decking, we only trust the city inspectors to dictate to us whether or not the roof is up to code, Dan only gave him the numbers for decking so this member would not be surprised if the city required a total redeck. In Dan's opinion it was marginal, there was space lumber that could have been called out by the city inspector. Hopefully a redeck was not required, we feel the best policy is to be open and honest about pricing. So, in saying all of this, we are a company that has overhead (commissions, project manager costs, liability insurance for roofing ect...)and we need to make profit to ensure we will be in business for years to come. Quite honestly if you do a job to break even chances are you won't be around for the long haul. To pay a roofer less than what we pay them for a roof of this steepness just seems sub standard to us. A 12/12 -14/12 roof is can be dangerous, safety equipment is required to insure safety for our roofers. In a report that this member wrote there was another contractor's bid that was 25% higher than the lowest bid, he gave him a "B" on price. I don't feel a "F"is fair to us considering the steepness of this roof. A buyer should be aware that you just cannot survive as a company making no profit. Thank for reading this, read on to view all of our reports. Thank you to the member for the report.

Description of Work: Jamie Wright came out on time, and did a very thorough measure and inspection of my home, followed by a step by step explanation of what his company would do to replace my roof. He showed me verification of the company's credentials, talked specifically about who would do the job, and what materials would be used. He left brochures on all the materials, and a very detailed proposal. He followed up with a call a few days later, and answered further questions and scheduled another visit. He returned with his brother Bob, who owns the company to look specifically at additional siding and window replacement that I decided to do at the same time. They arrived on time again, and also took time to discuss the additional work, The only reason I did not go with 'Wright At Home', was that the scope of my additional projects involved asbestos removal, and I very much appreciated that Jamie was up front that their bid would be high because they would have to subcontract that work. When I called Jamie, and explained that I was going with a company that had the asbestos capability, he was gracious, and pleasant, rather than upset, and disgruntled as some people are when they feel you have wasted their time. This is a very ethical company that I would recommend for their professionalism and customer service.

Excellent.
Description of Work: I contacted Wright at Home to check my roof for potential water leakage. Bob came out and checked the entire roof and noted that it was in good shape. In addition to his review, he applied caulk to a few areas as general maintenance. When I asked Bob about the remaining life of the roof, he was very honest and thought the roof still had at least a couple years left. He also provided me with a replacement estimate for cost planning purposes.

Description of Work: My porch roof was leaking and Bob Wright came out 2 times. The first time there was snow and he couldn't get up on the roof but advised me about getting weather stripping for my bathroom window rather than replacing it. The following Monday he was there and I got a voice mail at work and he reported the roof needed some caulking, and he fixed with no charge! I called him back and said I would like to give him something for his time and he said to send a report to Angie's List. What a wonderful man. I didn't think companies operated like that anymore. He really brightened my day.
