Excellent! Thanks to Universal for not overlooking the small jobs as many other contractors did. For any future drywall needs, I will use them again and I will highly recommend them to others. Also, thanks to the office staff. It was nice to know I could always talk to someone rather than leaving a message.
Description of Work: I had a cracked bathroom ceiling as well as gapping between the bathroom walls and ceiling that needed repair.

Professionalism that is hard to beat! Initially, the work was not well supervised. The job was done very poorly, and the painter had to stop part way into the job to let them come back to edge it. However, Universal Spray and Drywall stood by their pledge of quality work. They immediately agreed to redo the entire project at no cost to us. Much of the poor quality involved the painter which they had recommended. Universal paid another quality contractor (new to our project) to complete the project to insure a job well done. They did beautiful work, and I would hire them again in a heart beat! I appreciate a contractor that stands by their quality.
Description of Work: Ceiling repairs, redo knockdown on 20 foot ceilings and most of main floor and upper hallway.

Description of Work: Their bid was high and would not be guaranteed because of existing in work. I would have to remove the work I had done and the bid was still the highest. It took almost 2 weeks to get a quote I was promised in 1 day. Assessor was polite but came across a little too "classy" for my taste.

See above, and STOP ASKING ME ABOUT THIS. This is NUTS. I have no exact idea when this occurred, except that it was in Fall of 2015, and just put in a date, because Angie's List, in their infinite wisdom, will not let you submit anything unless you fill in EVERY SINGLE THING ON THE FORM. ARRGGGGHHHHHH! Post this, Angle's List. I would really like to see this up. (I know you won't.)
Description of Work: First of all, I looked at Angie's list for a Drywall company. Found a coupon for three hours of service and bought it. Called the company and they took three weeks to contact me. They finally sent me an email, saying that they needed to "see the job". The guy came to give me an estimate, after I had already paid for three hours of drywall. This was to install ONE sheet of drywall in a ceiling that had water damage. I was going to do all the removal, all the prep work, all the post work, had already paid about $300, and they sent me a bill (about two weeks after the guy came) for an ADDITIONAL $800+ dollars. This is to install ONE sheet of drywall, which I was going to provide. It was OUTRAGEOUS. I asked for a refund, because to put in one piece of drywall, do a little mudding, and to pay $1,100 total was preposterous. Especially since I was basically doing all the work. As Angie's List always does, the refund took almost two months to get. I quit this site, as it is nothing like it used to be, and this has happened to me three times with these infernal and completely rip-off coupons, and got a call from someone in sales at Angie's List, saying I would get a free year if I stayed. I am staying ONLY because of the free year, and will never use this site again. Again, this exact same thing has happened to me three times, when I have purchased "deals" on this site. I am so unimpressed with everything here, and am only here because it is free. I am quite sure Angie's List will find a way to lose this, as they don't post things about themselves that aren't to their liking, but this is the truth, and when I signed up for Angie's List, it was a really cool idea. Companies could get to the top of the list ONLY if they were deemed excellent by consumers. Now they can buy their way to the top, and Angie's List has become a joke.

We purchased a deal for $280 for 4 hours of work but the total bill came back at $1200. Unsure how many hours this was for. The problem we had was waiting for the company to return our emails or phone calls. We finally decided to just wallpaper but the project was under a deadline and we could have started the wallpapering long time ago if it hadn't taken them so long to get back to us. They were professional and did there best to fit us into the schedule, I'm sure they are very busy but a quick phone call would have been better then us waiting 2-3 days to hear back.

It did take a long time, even accounting for slow drying due to high humidity. The bathroom was also patched and painted. I'd forgotten to take out the caddy hanging on the shower head - so it was covered in dust. I'm happy with the final product.

Description of Work: I just got an estimate from this company. I messed up while trying to hang drywall, and was considering hiring them to repair my mistakes! I couldn't afford to hire them. But Bob showed up when he said he would. He gave me a detailed estimate. He also gave us tips for how to repair the basement drywall - even if we didn't hire him. Very nice, helpful, classy people. I would have hired them if I could have.

Approx. 4 day job due to multiple step process. Homeowners need to remove all furniture. Homeowners and pets should not remain in house after day 1 Kilz oil paint seal. They do a great job sealing off all walls and install zipper doors where needed.Beautiful final knockdown ceilings! Note: this homeowner likes to paint but priming and painting knockdown is a tough job, May want to consider hiring a professional spray painter.
Description of Work: Complete scraping of popcorn texture on upper level (approx 700 s.f.), seal coat with Kilz, skim coat and application of knockdown final coat. Homeowner did painting. Kevin was most helpful. Clean job and final cleanup.

This was the best drywall experience I've had. Since they are a larger company with several crews and a dedicated office folks there was always someone there to answer the phone. The process first started out with an estimator. Since this was a repair job he explained it was simple time and materials. $100 for the first hour, $50 each additional plus a minimal amount of materials. He estimated 8-10 hours total for all the work split over a couple days. Next the scheduler set up the times. The scheduler also called the morning started to verify times. The crew spent a lot of time putting up plastic and tarps each day to ensure furniture and floors stayed as clean as possible. I was very happy with the final results and the responsiveness of the company. I would recommend them in the future.
Description of Work: Fixed a large crack in the ceiling as well as a slew of cosmetic misc holes and cracks around the house. Retextured were applicable.

Description of Work: I was told I needed to have a drywall contractor install cement board in preparation for tile installation in a shower area, by someone at a tile store employee. Universal informed me that the tile installer typically does this prep job, which I now know is accurate. Their response time was good, and Universal went beyond what I expected for knowing my request for a bid probably didn't fall in their contractor's category. I asked for a referral of a tile contractor and they extended a recommendation. I will definitely keep this contractor in my file for future use.

I called Universal Spray & Drywall to come out and bid on scraping two popcorn ceilings and finishing them with a knockdown texture and to also drywall the ceiling in our basement. Russ came out to do the bid. Russ answered all of my questions and was very flexible in doing the bid. On my request he gave us three different options on our bid for different services they could do. I wanted it all broken out so I would know exactly how much each thing would cost. In the bid they also clearly define exactly how the drywall will be finished which is great because it was very clear to me exactly what was going to be done. I think that Universal Spray & Drywall would have done a great job on our project. The only reason I didn't hire them was because of cost. They were quite a bit higher than the other bids I got and we just couldn't justify the extra expense.
Description of Work: We did not have any services performed as we decided to hire someone else to do the project.

1. We contacted Keith from Universal after reviewing feedback on Angie's list and scheduled an appointment within 2 days. 2. He showed up on time, LISTENED, and then inspected our home and pointed out things that we had not seen. He told us that he would continue to point out increasingly minor things until we would tell him to stop at that level of detail. 3. After our walk thorugh, he went back and made all his measurements 4. He then told us what he would recommend in all areas, told us that he would prepare his estimates and would email them to us. 5. Within 24 hours he emailed us an understandable and complete quote 6. We signed the quote and arranged the week that we would turn the house over to Keith and his team. Then we left for a 5 day vacation when his team moved in to do the work. 7. They completed the work on time, 8. Keith did a walkthrough and while the work met our expectations not all areas met his expectations. He explained what he saw, appologised for the inconvinience and asked to have his team return for another day and half to meet HIS expectation for the finished job. 9 His cleaning team came in and did a good job cleaning up the dust, and other debris from the operation. 10. Keith called a couple of time during the project to ask "how is it going for you?" and after the job was done by about a week, he called to ask "how do things look"? Overall - excelent clear communication
Description of Work: We raised 5 kids in our house and it showed! Nerf basketball games in the entry foyer, corner beads blown out, nail pops from original construction defect, water leaks and stains in ceilings from past mishaps...you get the picture. Lots of wall fix-ups We decided to have the older "popcorn" texture on the ceilings replaced with knockdown to provide a more updated appearance. We also removed 3 skylights from original construction due to cold drafts, condensation and lack of need for additional light in those locations. Those locations were insulated, drywalled and made to blend in with surrounding ceilings.

From the first phone call to the last things went quickly and smoothly. With four kids and a dog in the house I needed someone to be efficient and capable of doing our job. Courtesy phone calls were made by Travis before each time he came to do work. Always showing up at the time he said. He was respectful of my house not leaving any mess that needed to be cleaned up. He brought all of his own equipment, including his own vacuum cleaner to vacuum our bathroom AND hallway near where he worked. Unless you knew someone was working in our house, you never would have guessed it. I would recommend this company to all my friends! Our bathroom is almost complete, and Universal Spray and Drywall made this big job at home very easy!
Description of Work: We gutted our main bathroom and hung new sheet-rock, which needed to be taped and sanded. The existing ceiling sagged in two areas so it had to be rehung resulting in more taping and sanding. With

This company is great and I'd refer them to anyone! Came out the same day we called them to estimate for a skim coat job. Very next day the installer was out to start the job. Beautiful work, super nice installer, he taped plastic everywhere so there would be no mess, then at the end of the job, even bought in his own vacuum to clean up everything perfectly! All at a very fair price!

They were really easy to work with. They had one person that does the quoting, orders the materials, and runs the job. Different people come out and actually do the work. We had to change the date a couple of times, because other contractors didn't have their work done on time. They were flexible with that. That worked out very well. They even came out on the weekend.

We had some repairs done to a vaulted ceiling that resulted in a need for bleed through protection and re-surfacing. The general contractor could not fix the problems in a timely manner and recommended contacting a "Specialist" for this work. Jim from Universal responded quickly, knew what had to be done, explained our options, and provided a very reasonable estimate. The work was done on time and for the estimate. The workers were friendly, and cleaned up carefully when the job was done. The FOG/KNOCKDOWN finish doesn't have to be painted and looks great!
Description of Work: Preparation and spray texture a vaulted ceiling
