The job was complicated - all levels are finished, so Jim had to tear into walls etc. He communicated to me the challenges of each step, so I was aware of what would happen. In the process, he found, what I think, were pretty dangerous "hot" flex conduits in my crawl space, "hot" light switches, and outlets with reverse polarity - that my inspector didn't find before purchase. He explained and showed me each situation as it arose and made sure I understood the cost. Jim was very professional, very personable and a good electrician. He even carried on coversations with my little dog that followed him around and kept him company!

This is the fourth time we've had Jim out to the house to do electrical work. As usual, Jim was as professional as ever. We'd already bought all the items we wanted installed, so all Jim had to do was install them. Which he did with speed and precision. He even manged to do everything without needing to turn off the power supply, which was most helpful as I was working on my computer at the time. Everything Jim installed works well and has made a big positive difference to the various rooms. There's not much else to add. Based on my own repeated experience, Jim's great reviews on Angie's List are well deserved. Anytime I need electrical work done at my home, I would always call Jim without hesitation. So, if you want your electrical work done by an expert who is also a very nice guy, give Total Electric a call and speak to Jim. He'll hook you up!

Jim was punctual, professional, friendly, and a pleasure to work with. The bids we got for the job were pretty much all the same, so these were the qualities that made us want to go with him. We wanted an electrician to put in a roomier panel as part of a kitchen/bath remodel in which we're wiring circuits for those rooms ourselves. Jim was fine with that, and gave us a lot of helpful advice for our planned work. We weren't sure whether would should just replace our 100A panel, or upgrade the service to 200A, and he gave us great and frank advice on the pros and cons of each. (We ended up just replacing the 100A.) I'd highly recommend Total Electric, and won't bother considering anyone else the next time I need an electrician.

Jim was punctual, professional and courteous. Explained the work in detail and advised on future work. Very patient with me and my questions. I knew exactly what everything would cost ahead of time and he saved me money where he could. I will definitely have him work on my home again and again.

Very smooth, Jim was great. Made sure I knew exactly where I wanted the new sconces placed and worked quickly to get them installed with minimal damage to the wall. Would definitely use him again, as he is fairly priced, responsive, and helpful.

Total Electric first came out to give us an estimatet. We agreed to it. Three days later he came back to do the job, starting at 8 am and didn't finish until 4 pm. During the day he found a few things he thought should be changed, checked with us and we agreed so more work was done than orignally estimated; Total Electric also gave us some ideas for future work we want done. Made sure the new service worked properly before he left. We will definitely use Total Electric again.

If I could, I would rate my experience highter than the allowable limits. Jim is a licensed electrician who really knows his stuff. He responded immediately to my call, set an appt time and arrived when he said he would. Not only did he install a new circuit, correct bad wiring/outlet that was sparking off and install grounded outlets, he also took the time to test all of my wiring to make sure I was not experiencing an unknown electrical drain because my Xcel bills had been so excessive. He took the time to explain the usage patterns on various appliances and the furnace to enable me to better manage my electrical usage. I cannot recommend Total Electric highly enough for your skilled electrical needs and can tell you I will never look any further than Jim when I require electrical service or repair in the future.

Overall, the experience was very positive. He was very straight forward, seemed very honest, and very efficient. Both things that he did for me took a very short period of time.

Jim went right to work, cleaned up, and was present as I test the air compressor.

I called in the afternoon and he scheduled me for the next day. His rate was a fair one and described in advance. He tackled the problem with a definite strategy and found the precise cause was a shorted-out connection in the attic.It was not an easy task as he had to find the wiring below the blown-in insulation. It was apparent that it could have been very difficult to find. He rewired new connections both in the attic and in the dining room. He came prepared to find the right solution, he was fully equipped, and he was totally professional in his use of his time. I will call on him in the future.

Jim is a pleasant, direct, no BS, no frills kind of person. He was exactly what I expect and respect in a contractor. I need an expert who will present suggestions & options; Jim was just that. He is very efficient and and skilled.

We have called Jim several times for various electrical jobs, and most of the time he just gives us free advice on the phone. This time, we actually had him out to do the work and he was great. Jim put canned lights in our newly renovated kitchen, including new outlets to meet appliance needs & code, as well as performing some additional breaker box work that should have been done the right way by another guy a couple of years ago. He was on time, very friendly, stopped often to ask me questions when there were decisions to make and/or would stop to explain why he was doing something in a certain way. We actually had my uncle finish putting the outlet boxes in because we wanted to save some money and he was willing to help, and he mentioned several times how great of a job Jim did wiring our house. AND when I sent Jim the email explaining that my uncle was going to finish the work, he said "it was great working with you" and mentioned what a nice project it was for him (and he even remembered my 2 year old name :))

Jim is great to work with. We wouldn't hesitate to use him again. Highly recommended.

Jim was quick to respond to our phone call, as well as to make himself available to perform our job. He was most professional and appeared to understand our needs from the get-go.

It all went very well. He arrived promptly for the estimate, talked over several possibilities for installation, scheduled the install for the same week, then performed the install in a competant, professional manner. He kept me informed about what was going on during the entire process. There was a problem with the charger when we first turned it on, but that was a manufacturing defect in the charger, not anything due to the installation. He found the customer support phone line in the charger manual and gave them a call. The manufacturer (GE Wattstation) was able to talk us through fixing it over the phone. All in all, a very successful install!

This was a very good experience. Jim responded to my voicemail within 1 hour. He scheduled to perform the services within 2 days. He showed up on time and went right to work on a list of small electrical issues that we had. Jim quickly finished the list of items and was very pleasant to deal with. I would definitely use him again.

Our over the range microwave was causing the circuit to trip. Jim ran a new electrical line with its own circuit for the microwave. He arrrived on time and completed the work quickly. He was very pleasant and professional. Will call again if we need any electrical work done.

The lighting portion of the project went well.

We had a wire come loose on a wall outlet which caused the circuit to go out of phase and fry a TV, a radio and a small fan. Jim located the problem right away and replaced the burned outlet. In the process, he educated me (a DIYer) about the importance of doing home wiring correctly and not taking shortcuts. He is very personal and professional and obviously knows what he's doing. I will trust him to take care of any other electrical needs I have.

Remember the scene in" A Christmas Story" when Ralphie imagines Ms. Shields grading his essay and giving him an A++++++++++?Well, that is the grade we would give Jim. He laid underground electircal lines, set up a load center, and put outlets up in our tack shed, run-in shed, and around the yard. He let us do as much of the prepatory work as we wanted in order to save money.He was always available by phone when we had questions and was knowledgeable, kind, and efficient.By the time the project was done, my husband felt as if he had had a personal electronics class. Jim let him work along side him and learn as he went.Not only did Jim complete the job in a timely fashion, he battled thorny weeds and mosquitoes to get the work done.At first he was a bit apprehensive about the horses, but by the second day, he was bringing them carrots.We can't say enough good things about Jim and recommend him highly.

During the estimation process, and as we were figuring out exactly what we wanted, Jim was responsive without being pushy. When I had questions about code requirements he put me in touch with the electrical inspector to verify the answers. His estimate was based on expected hours at an hourly rate and he came in under that estimate with a corresponding price decrease. He gave me the option to purchase the supplies myself instead of paying him to do it and was also amenable to my helping with the work, which cut the last day off his original time estimate. My wife and I were both very pleased with his demeanor, promptness, neatness, etc. He was up front, did good work, and we would gladly hire him again.

Jim from Total Electric contacted me the day before to verify the amount of work, time it would take approximately and what I could do to save time...unpacking the light fixtures and putting together the paddles for the fan. This time I spent doing a few minor things saved the electrician time and me money.
