Total Electric Inc

This is the third time Jim has been to our house this summer. We bought an older home, and there were a number of electrical issues. He has always come on time and worked efficiently. He's great about pointing about possible problem areas, and he answers all questions respectfully (even though they might sound dumb to him!). He does excellent work and is conscientious about permits and inspections. Another member mentioned that he whistles while he works, he does! He's very pleasant and has a good sense of humor. He cleans up after himself and brings all the supplies. But if you want to save a little money, you have the choice of doing the clean up and buying parts to his specifications, like outlet boxes, etc. I went to the store three times in one day when he was doing major work in the basement. I think his rates are comparable to other electricians. He proudly displays Angie's List on his truck doors.

After spending hours outside setting up Christmas lights, I plugged them in & discovered they were tripping the GFI outlet in the bathroom (it's on the same circuit). Pressing reset didn't help. I found Total Electric on Angie's. The receptionist was very pleasant, helpful & she even arranged an appointment before my Christmas party. I assumed I would have to install a new circuit for the outdoor outlets, but Jim said there was no simple way to redirect those from the existing circuit to a new one. We discussed creating a brand new outlet, then he suggested that replacing the GFI in the bathroom might do the trick, he was right. However, he warned that I may still have problems if the freezer remained on the same circuit. Since the freezer instructions recommended a dedicated circuit, I told him to go ahead. An exterior outlet was malfunctioning; I also asked him to replace both of those. Jim was very polite, funny & whistled while he worked. He reminded me to call the inspector.

They are excellent. I would highly recommend them.

On the phone, the estimate I got was 2-3 hours of labor. When Jim arrived, he explained to me that there would be some damage to the wall inside and possibly the ceiling. He gave me a good explanation of some other options, and a good description of what the size of the hole in the wall would be. He then went to work and two hours later, I had a porch light! The damage to the wall was exactly as he described, and he came in on the low side of the labor estimate. I was very happy with the results.

They talked to me over the phone and did not come to see the job in person. I'm looking to do more than replace a few light fixtures, and I don't feel good about spending this kind of money based on a 10 or 15 minute phone conversation. Therefore, I decided to go with another company.

Jim came out at the time we'd agreed upon. He took a look at the indoor outlet and made quick work of replacing it. He also advised me that this would happen again if I kept using my high wattage hair dryer. This was good advice! He checked everything over because the outlet also had a switch for a ceiling light. Then he moved on to the outdoor outlet and found the problem there, fixed it at the switch, and tested it, also. Jim works quickly and neatly. He obviously knows what he is doing and gets in there and does it! He was polite, helpful and explained the two situations, which I appreciated. He is very reasonably priced and we will certainly have him here again for any electrical work we might have. It was a pleasure to do business with Total Electric and their card is taped in my address book.

Jim was very personable. The job was handled very efficiently and within the minimum time and rate. I would hire this company again.

Called to have them come out and see what the problem was with my front garage lights, and a shower light in the master bathroom that stopped working. I had checked trip switches, and GFI switches and they were OK. The lady wanted to know if I had purchased the equipment needed to do the repair, I told her no because I didn't know what the exact problem was, and wouldn't know what exactly to buy, and she seemed upset with my answer and said that I should have done that because it costs them money to come out to my house to determine that, and that if they have to go purchase something that they don't stock on their truck then that would cost them money also. She seemed more concerned about all the expense it was going to cost them rather than than providing me service, and asked me outright if I would like to get someone else who is willing to come out and determine the problem first, and I was so put off by her attitude that I said yes, and she hung up. I would never call them again.

Jim arrived on time, within the first 15 minutes of the 1-hour arrival window quoted by the company. He was very polite, clearly skilled, efficient and personable, and careful with our home. He also was very friendly to my enthusiastic dog. It took just under an hour to locate and correct the problem, and he also gave us some tips to prevent this type of problem from occurring in the future. I wish I had another small job for him to do, since the company has a 1 1/2-hour minimum!

Jim Levoir works efficiently and well. He arrived on time to do the work with building permit in hand and discussed with us the arrangement for the outlets. Before beginning the actual installation, he called the regional building inspector for electrical, Ted Hagfors, and described the proposed installation to insure that it would meet Ted's approval. The work was completed quickly and neatly. At several points in the process, Jim asked if I would like to help as it would facilitate and speed up the process. I was happy to do this as Jim is a friendly person and easy to work with. The work was completed in less time than estimated over the phone. The work passed inspection. The work could not be performed for about two weeks after we proposed to job, but we weren't in a hurry and we were willing to wait. Jim let us provide electrical components (breakers and outlets) to save materials cost. Jim and Total Electric deserve the excellent rating they have on Angies List.

We did not select Total because they did not come to our home for an estimate. They simply asked what we needed done, gave the price for the parts, and his hourly rate. Basically said it will cost what it costs, not very helpful for someone on a budget. $2,000.00.

I spoke with Jim of Total Electric approximately 1 week prior to his services. I left a voice mail message initially and he contacted me the very next day first thing in the morning. The project was for a bathroom addition. He was flexible with schedule and able to work within my short time frame. Jim arrived very early every morning and completed his job on with no issues at all. I used Total Electric two years ago and was happy to find that they have the same commitment to service as they had in the past. I will continue to work with Total Electric on my upcoming electrical projects.

The electrician was running a little late because a previous job took more time than he intended, but he called to let us know, which was fine. We had a very confusing problem & after trying to search for the problem for a couple of hours, Jim said that, if he couldn't find the problem soon, he would not charge us. He eventually decided to try connecting one of the outlets to a different circuit & ''magically'' all the outlets began to work. Since one of the outlets involved was used with a freezer, he recommended running a separate circuit for that appliance. He also spent some time with my husband, showing him some minor tasks that would improve our luck with outlets that just had the wires pushed in, instead of wrapped around the screws.

As has always been my experience with Total Electric, once again they were timely, professional, thorough and affordable.

I am extremely happy with the work performed. Jim showed up when he said he would and did the job very quickly and efficiently. If I had tried to do it myself I would still be up on my ladder and the end results would not come close to what I have because of Jim. In addition to the high quality of work performed Jim was very friendly and personable. The next time I need an electrician I will not go anywhere else. Since I have very large dogs I was concerned about how Jim would react to them. I was very pleased to discover that he was perfectly fine and comfortable with them in the house with him.

Jim was punctual and did a wonderful job for us. I would definitely have him back to do more work if needed. He was very friendly, had great solutions for me and came in under his estimate.

Very positive from beginning to end.

Total Electric did a fantastic job. When I called to schedule they promptly returned my call and were able to schedule the service within a couple of days. Jim showed up right on time. He installed two chandeliers on vaulted ceilings as well as two sconces that were wired to a wall switch. Jim even cleaned up some of the wiring that was installed by our builder, but was not up to Jim's standards. Jim also installed three outlets in our basement. He cleaned up after himself while he worked and even helped me move my rug and dining room table back into place once the installations were complete. We'll definitely be using Total Electric for all future work.

Excellent service. Worked rapidly and cleaned up afterwards leaving the area better than they found it.

Ground fault installed was OK. They were not able to locate/fix the source of problem causing several non-working outlets. After almost 2 hours of testing/searching, it was finally determined that time/cost was too great to continue. They suggested an alternative to install along wall from one outlet to another for power.

It was a fast job which was great since I had company coming the next day.

They were fast, affordable, timely and friendly by phone and in person. It was GREAT! As a working, single mom who does not know how to do these types of things around the house myself, I was looking for pros who could do quality work that I can RELY on, and do it fast and affordable ... I will call Total Electric EVERY time I need this type of service from now on!

He was very courteous, very neat in appearance and wasted no time getting my list of projects done.

Wonderful! On time, quick, clean, professional, meticulous and friendly service. Was very careful about making holes in wall and ceiling. Bothered to ask where we'd like the fixture and wall switch.

This was a very great experience. Jim arrived on-time, came prepared with all the necessary equipment and electrical components. He estimated that would take between 6-8 hours, and he finished the job in 6 hours. He cleaned up all of his work areas and made sure I received the Angie's discount. I definitely will call him in future.
