Wilmes Construction is a great company to work with for basement remodeling. Tom is honest and direct with the work being performed, the schedule was held to pretty closely (life happens), and the whole job was completed under budget. They work with you on selections and design decisions, and are flexible when there are reasonable changes. Overall, I would highly recommend Wilmes Construction for any future remodeling needs.

Tom and his crew did an excellent job. The project turned out to be much more than we thought but they stepped up and got it done. They treated me with respect and made me feel they really cared about me and my home.

We could not be happier with how the work turned out. Tom is very good at what he does, is extremely friendly, and has a keep attention to detail. He has an entire process, letting you know what he needs from you and when, and (COVID notwithstanding) can give you a good estimate on when the job will be done. He tells you upfront what the job will cost. But most importantly, his work is great. We wholeheartedly recommend him and will be using him in the future.

We brought the company out to look at the space. He was pleasant and seemed very knowledgeable about the space. He promised a rough estimate by the end of the day. He never submitted anything, even after we followed up asking. On the followup,, he apologized and said it would be that day. Again, nothing- so we gave up and signed our $30k+ project to a different company. We still have not heard a peep from him weeks later. Super unprofessional.

We decided to finish our basement and we looked into a few different contractors. I am so glad we picked Tom to do it. I honestly couldn’t imagine someone else doing it. Tom is very trust worthy and will give you his honest opinion on what he thinks is best for the project he is working on. He is a genuine nice guy and that shows in his work. He was very patient with us when we had a few bumps in the road with the payment but he was able to work with us on a start date. He took the time to help us figure out a small siding issue that we had that was separate from what we needed done. I would definitely hire Tom again for any future projects that we might need done.

I think it went wells. It was finished one week earlier. Tom provided/coordinated almost all the pro workers of each task (electrical, plumbing, drywall installer, flooring, etc) of what needed to completed the whole project. He helps pointed out imperfections when the Painters (I was involved with Painters Pro selection) missed some parts of needed to paint surfaces and have them come back to re-paint (to get it right). We even get our old sink replaced and installed new garbage disposal and updated / replaced RO faucet of our under the sink water filtration system.

We decided to finish our basement in late August, started looking for a contractor and talked to Tom in early September. We have a rec room with a gas fireplace in the corner, a bedroom, a bathroom, a work area, and the utility room is enclosed. He was very responsive in helping us plan and make choices, and got the job done by the holidays. The computer tools he used to draw designs and give us a list of items to buy really helped us to visualize the plan and know what we needed to do. I am a project manager, and I really appreciated how Tom planned the project and kept it on track! He had a plan laid out with the major activities and subcontractors each week, and showed us where there was contingency so we knew the plan wasn’t too tight. The quality of work is excellent, and we are very happy with our basement! We recommend Tom very highly!

Tom is a great guy to work with. He is very knowledgeable and patient. He gave us professional advice when we were uncertain on what we really need. He did quality job. We strongly recommend Tom for home renovation job.

We brought in three contractors to give us bids for our basement finish and decided to go with Tom based on affordability and flexibility. Tom proved to be very trustworthy and reliable. He was also great with our large dog. We love our basement and have referred him to several friends.

We had Tom finish the ~900 sf basement in our home purchased a few months prior. Several contractors came out to review the project and give us quotes. We tried to remain neutral through our selection process, but Tom immediately stood out for his communication and attention to the details of the project. Tom provided drawings and was very quick to respond to updates to the design as we narrowed down exactly what we wanted. The main reason we went with Tom was for how he communicated with us. He gave us a lot of confidence that he would do exactly what we agreed on, and in the end he certainly delivered. The sub contractors he brought in were all courteous and did great work. The project was completed on time, and we are very happy with the quality. We did the flooring and paint ourselves to save on some costs, and he gave us the flexibility to schedule that without disrupting his overall schedule. We left the bathroom part of this project for a later phase, and we will have Tom back to do that work as well.

Tom and team did a great job. They were always there on time and cleaned up the job site before they left. We have has other remodel projects done in the past and had a hesitancy in working with another contractor. Tom was wonderful to work with and we would hire him again if needed.

Wilmes construction did a fantastic job with remodeling our bathrooms. We had several contractors provide estimates for the remodeling of our powder room and master bath. We encountered a number of issues with the various contractors, ranging from over-inflated estimates, to recommendations of cheap materials, to failure to follow through with communication. Tom was the only contractor through this process that didn't have any red flags. He was prompt with his communication, he delivered an estimate that matched our specifications exactly, and answered every question we had. Throughout the remodel process, we didn't feel the anxiety that we experienced with other home projects. He made the entire process simple. He was very accommodating through the process of picking out and ordering materials for the project, and the contacts he has for selecting tile, counters, cabinets, etc were extremely helpful with the design process. It has been over 6 months since the project was finished, and we are still extremely pleased with the quality of the work done in our bathrooms. We could not be more pleased with the project.

All major home construction projects are a messy challenge to live through, but Tom did his best to communicate times when he'd be working and stay as neat as possible. The end result is a beautiful upgrade to our home that makes for a better living experience and value when we decide to sell the house someday.

the end product was very nice and the price was competitive. However scheduling of work and completion dates were not well managed. Several things were not done correctly or had to be redone.

Tom was very detailed and did a nice job of explaining the process and provided us with design and material options throughout the project. The actual cost was in line with the original bid. Very easy to work with and straight shooter. Definitely would use him again.

It went great. Tom was always in communication with us, he got the job done quickly and efficiently. Very friendly and easy to deal with. He had some great suggestions we hadn't thought of. We love both the bathrooms. The transformation is awesome. We plan on using Tom again in a few months to replace our decks

Very well. Tom gave us an estimate that was easy to stay within. It was very detailed and our requests where met. Payment as in three parts and was easy to manage into our household budget. There was a delay on the things I ordered for the bathroom. Tom kept in touch as to when they could start. He communicated with me about items that would not work and suggested items that would. We chose a shower that he had not installed before and it turned beautiful. They cleaned up at the end of every day. Mess to the area outside of the bathroom was minimal. They worked through the holidays and did not disrupt any of our plans or functions. The bathroom turned out great.

Wilmes construction did an excellent job on our remodel. Tom Wilmes was honest, communicative and responsive during all phases of construction. The quality of work done by Tom and Jamie was second to none and all subcontracted work including electric, plumbing and cabinetry was of highest quality. We also enjoyed working with Tom's contacts for both tile and granite. We definitely plan to use Wilmes Construction for future projects.

With a new child on the way, it was time for us to finally increase the usable space in our older 1960's home. We didn't need much, but our main objectives including adding another bathroom as well as some space to move our existing office and exercise equipment out of what would end up being our new baby's room. After a thorough contractor search, we decided on Wilmes. Tom, the owner of Wilmes Construction, was very thorough in his bid, invested a lot of time in the up-front design options, and offered a competitive price. Construction started early Summer and was slated to be about a 8 week project. We supplied a portion of the materials (e.g. bath vanity, doors, etc) and pitched in on some of the preliminary work. But Tom was responsible for securing most of the core construction materials, managing the subcontractors, and doing a lot of the actual construction himself. For the most part, the project went smoothly. Tom and his subcontractors were very professional and did a good job respecting our house during construction. This meant taking care to not track in dirt/dust when moving materials as well as making sure the job site was as cleaned up as possible after each day's work. Tom did a good job keeping us posted to the job progress and helped walk us through issues as they developed. We did hit some unexpected snags that required some additional costs outside the scope of the initial project, but most were due to the existing house design and some of its older components. But even when these hiccups popped up, Tom did not nickle-and-dime us and even absorbed some of the costs on his own. The project did end up taking about 4 weeks longer than expected, but a large portion of that was due to some issues securing materials needed to complete the job. Overall, we are very pleased with the end result. Our bathroom turned out great, and it's great being able to walk in to an actual finished area rather than a dusty, dull, unfinished basement. The added space has allowed us to really open up the rest of our house to use it for more practical things. Tom's a very cordial person who's easy to work with throughout all phases of a project. We'd definitely consider using him again on future remodeling projects.

I feel the work was completed in a timely manner with real pros in charge. Tom and Jamie came in did all the demo and rebuilt both of our bathrooms to a high standard. There were problems that came up that we were made aware of immediately and solutions supplied quickly. The quality of workmanship was great. Things were left as clean and neat as possible. I would not hesitate to use them again.

Our master bath needed to be completely remodeled and up-dated. Tom was a great choice to do this work. He was prompt in getting back to us with a reasonable bid for the project. His spread sheets and estimates helped me stay within our budget and when there were a few areas where I wanted to up-grade, I knew where I stood financially. That was important to us. He kept a record of everything and if I came in under budget for a choice, that was reflected in the final bill. I trusted him to make the decisions about the infra-structure - all the foundation stuff about which I know nothing, and in turn, he was willing to listen to my design ideas even if they were crazy. He made them work. Tom was always responsive to questions by email, phone or text. It's great to work with someone who stays in touch! He made sure I ordered what was needed from my end so that it would be delivered in time for the start of the project. Once it began he and his crew were there when he said they would be. They were on time, careful, and cleaned up the site every day. This was important to us because we work from home. The quality of the work reflected their skill. All done very beautifully and completely. No lose ends where you are left begging the contractor to come back and fix the leaky sink, or whatever. Even the contacts Tom sent us to - like the tile store and the stone company - were great people to work with. The finished project was awesome. In addition to the bathroom project. They replaced our front storm door, and sliding glass patio doors. We would be happy to refer him to anyone. I only hope that when we need to do more work on our home he won't be too busy to fit us in to his schedule!

Tom was always willing to take the time to answer questions and would return calls promptly. He put in the extra effort to ensure that I was happy with things all trough out the project. He was willing to do some extra work to resolve some HVAC issues that were uncovered. I am very happy with how things turned out and would recommend Wilmes Construction to anyone looking for an honest, hard working contractor.

Tom came over after I submitted a quote request on a few different projects, with the water damage issue being #1 priority. He took time to explain the root cause(s) of the water damage and even took off the siding to show me what he was referring to. It was a T&M job, so his quote was an estimate just to give me a general idea of what it might cost. His team came over when they said they would and took care of the issue. I feel he did a great job and was very thorough when explaining his findings to me throughout the job while giving me some repair options along the way. Integrity and honesty are clearly a top priority for Tom as he provided facts before, during and after the job while he followed through on all his commitments to me and my wife. Thanks!

They remodeled one side of our house and made two bedrooms into a one bedroom suit. He was a very nice guy and very accommodating. He was just really good. Quality of work was very good. He had also had do something extra in the same amount of time. He did kitchen floor as extra.
