I contacted Tim Thursday morning about repairs needed on a heavy door that was off the hinge. He literally stopped by hours later, fixed it perfectly, checked adjacent doors and tweaked those, as well. He was very professional, efficient, and a talented carpenter. Would hire again in an instant. Hire him -- you won't regret it!

We first contacted Tim through Angie's List, sending him a message with questions about the project. Tim responded quickly, and within the week had stopped at our house to take measurements and walk through the available styles, wood types, and stains. We had an estimate within a few days and were on his schedule soon after. Tim took about two days to finish the work once the materials had arrived. He removed the old rails and patched the holes left behind in the walls. He also offered disposal services for the old rails for a fee, but we opted to take them to the recycling center ourselves. Due to the lay out of our living room, part of the railing was over carpet and an in-floor electrical outlet. In order to help us reduce costs, Tim elevated the bottom portion of the new railing rather than run it directly along the floor and used a few small maple supports on the bottom. This saved us the cost of having to tear up and replace carpet, as well as avoiding the hassle of having to move or close the floor outlet. The new railing looks great, and the outlet remains unobstructed. The new hand railings on the wall and posts in the floor are sturdy. We were very pleased with the outcome!

Outstanding. Tim was professional, punctual and very skilled. We couldn't be happier. We had to wait a few months to get the work done because he was very busy. However, I had received quotes from many other carpenters and even tried to hire a few (prices changed or they didn't follow through). At the quote, he was very thorough and detailed. His price was reasonable and he was upfront about his schedule. I was comfortable with the wait for what I thought was a craftsman. I was right. Well worth the wait. Outstanding work and very professional. This was the final step of a full house remodel and a great job.

I contacted Tim about the trim repair and he came out to our house to look everything over. He worked up an estimate and also dealt directly with the supplier to find the right pieces needed for the repairs. His schedule was booked up and we were looking to get the work done as soon as possible, but he still put in the time and effort to get the replacement trim ordered from the supplier, followed up with the supplier regularly, and kept me updated as to when the trim would be delivered. Once I received the trim, he was able to find an opening in his schedule to do the work. In the meantime I had gotten quotes from multiple other providers to do the work, and Tim's quote was by far the least expensive. Tim showed up on time, completed the work quickly, and the work turned out great. He was professional and left no trace of his activity either in the house or in the garage where he was trimming the pieces. I highly recommend Brewers Carpentry Services.

After serving as the general contractor for several major renovation projects over the past few years and hiring dozens of highly rated Angie?s List companies, I can easily say that Tim is among our top 3 favorite contractors. We?ve worked with Tim for two years in a row, and continue to be impressed. He is always prompt and here exactly when he says he will be, and yet extremely patient with us and understanding when our schedule changed multiple times due to delays in the other construction work. I also asked him a zillion questions and he always responded right away and was very helpful, including trying to find ways to cut costs to meet our budget. He respected our home more than any others, making sure to close the doors on the way in and out, set up in the garage instead of in the finished rooms, clean up thoroughly at the end of every day, and lay down protective covering on the carpets leading to the rooms on which he was working. I felt comfortable leaving him in our home if we had to go out, which is something I can?t say about many of the other people who have done work on our house. Finally, Tim is extremely diligent in his attention to detail, both in the planning phase and in the finished project. We found other contractors who would have been somewhat cheaper to use for both framing and finish carpentry, but they didn?t pay enough attention to the details of what we needed and I?m sure we would have ended up frustrated if something wasn?t done as expected. Tim, on the other hand, always has everything planned out to the inch, communicated effectively, and truly cared about how the finished product looked and functioned. He was present for all of the inspections even though he didn?t need to be, and the inspector commented that the framing was done meticulously with perfect right angles. In the one instance where a wall was placed inches different than we had envisioned, he was extremely accommodating and moved the frame for us to meet our wishes before it was too late. A contractor who will move a wall a few inches without complaining? He?s worth hiring again and again! Highly recommend Tim and will be sharing his name with all of our friends in the home renovation phase.

Tim was very punctual, showing up exactly when he said he would. He was efficient and worked very hard until the job was completed. He was respectful of our home and did an amazing job installing the crown. We are very pleased with his work. He was very knowledgeable about his work and great to work with. I look forward to working with him again on future projects and will be recommending him to my friends.

Tim did a wonderful job rebuilding our stair rails and posts, replacing the old iron rail we had with a beautiful new maple rail. Our stairs were not up to code and were a hazard, and Tim found a creative solution that was safer and looks great. We have had so many compliments on how nice it turned out and we couldn't be happier. We have contacted Tim a few times for some minor issues (no fault of his!) and he has responded promptly and been so easy to work with. We will absolutely use him for any further carpentry needs, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to family and friends.

I could not be any more complementary of someone. Tim was in my home for about 2-3 weeks doing the work. The work was done on time, it was done as he explained and even with cold temperatures, he did all cutting in the garage to minimize the dust in the home. The quality of the workmanship was second to none. The way he navigated cabinets, walls, etc with trim was amazing. He has a great skillset. The doors look beautiful and the bannister looks like it could be from a magazine. I showed Tim a picture from Houzz App and said...this is what I want and he delivered. He does all of the work himself and it is so detail oriented and top quality. I would HIGHLY recommend Tim for future jobs and would not hesitate to bring him back to do more.
Description of Work: Tim replaced all of my doors and frames (15+), closet doors in 3 bedrooms, installed all new trim on the base for my main and upstairs along with crown modolding on my mail level. He frammed all of my windows for each of the levels with new molding and installed a bannister for my stairs going from main to upstairs and post.

Tim is very prompt and responsive in providing estimates and completing the work itself. He graciously suggested ways I could save money and stay on a budget. He patiently answered all my questions regarding prep and finishing work and the job itself. I plan to ask Tim to come back in year 2015 to complete the same type of work in the lower level of my townhouse. Tim is very skilled, talented, and takes great pride in his work.
Description of Work: Tim completed 2 remodeling jobs in 2014. The first job cost $1161 and involved installing six new 6-panel, solid core, oak prehung doors, two new 6-panel, solid core, oak bifold closet doors, all new oak casing, and all new oak base molding on the main floor of my townhome. The second job cost $702 and involved installing a new 6-panel, solid core, oak prehung bathroom door, removing and installing a new steel 6-panel garage utility door, removing old stair railing boards and installing the new stair railing, and installing oak casing, and oak base molding in my two entrance ways. I supplied all materials.

The work performed was sometime last year, around July/August 2013. I requested a quote to put in a chair rail and rectangular boxes (shadow boxes) in a foyer and going up the stairs. I said my vision was just like the trim work in a model home. To my surprise, Mr. Brewers went to the model home and took pictures so that I could get exactly what I wanted. The quality of the workmanship was excellent and he used a lazer to get even lines and was very detailed in his cuts. The aesthetic way he went around the stairs and handrail made the shadow boxes look very sharp. In some areas going up the stairs (where the hand rail ends), it was difficult to keep the height of the chair rail all the same but Mr. Brewers made it work and you can't even tell. He was efficient and professional. I would certainly use him again for future trim work. We decided to paint the trim ourselves to keep costs down.

It went very, very well. Tim made an appointment to come for the estimate and arrived on time. His labor costs are very, very reasonable. He even gave us advise on some other projects that he would not be able to help us with. His carpentry skills are excellent. He was willing to pick up the doors and dispose of the old ones. He had the job done in one day just like he had indicated. Cleaned up after the work was done. I hope I have another project to hire Tim to do. I highly recommend Brewers Carpentry Services. Jan

Tim is a professional in every sense of the word. He comes out and gives you honest advice about the job without a sales pitch. He provides a free estimate up front and it clearly breaks down labor and material rates. With a new baby on the way my wife was thrilled that he was able to accommodate a tight timeline to frame in a new room, with a closet, and to install a new bedroom door for us. He went a step beyond on the job by actually going out and buying a larger door for the job compared to what I had originally planned. My wife had taken the SUV for the day so I would have had to rent a truck to go pick it up and to get it installed. Tim was running ahead of schedule and offered to pick it up without any strings attached. I tried to pay him extra for doing that favor for us, and he refused to take that extra money. He's a great guy and his work is very detailed. While cutting in to existing carpeting to make room for the new door and closet framing he did so very precisely. I was afraid that I'd have to patch areas or re-stretch certain parts, but that wasn't necessary. All said and done I wouldn't hesitate to hire Tim again. His rates aren't the cheapest, but he does solid work, and is a professional that you can depend on.

The service was great! Tim was very professional, punctual, and prompt to respond. We had an issue come up before the project was started, and Tim was quick to respond and resolved the issue. What I appreciate most about the work Tim did, was the attention to detail he put in, and the quality of his work. You can tell he is experienced, and has a lot of pride in his craft! We had him install baseboards with shoe molding throughout the entire main floor (1800 sq ft.). He also framed three doors, an opening between our dining room and living room, and two windows. I have a very critical eye, being a traditional DIY'er, and I don't have a single complaint. We would definitely use him again, and have no reservations about referring him to any of our friends. Thanks, Tim!

Tim did a wonderful job on our home. He was a true professional- very responsive, easy to reach, and showed up when he said he would. His quote was very accurate, and he even reduced the cost by $100 because there wasn't as much waste as he had anticipated. We ran into a few problems, one of which was totally unexpected and was related to poor work done by a previous owner of our home. Tim went out of his way to try to find a resolution to the problem that would be affordable for us. Even though we didn't need to go with his solution, I was impressed that he spent the time to look for alternatives for us. I really appreciated Tim's attention to detail, as he would often take care of little things before I even had a chance to ask him about them. We usually do most of our home projects on our own because we're so picky and are rarely happy with the work that we hire out, but we were not disappointed with Tim. I would definitely hire Tim again, and would recommend him to anyone looking for a good carpenter. If you live in the Twin Cities, and are in need of a carpenter, HIRE TIM!!!

It took Tim 2 days to complete the job which amazed me. No damage to anything in the house and a beautiful fit to everything. I love to see a true craftsman in action. We asked him back a month or so later to install a new oak handrail in the stairway to the basement and will likely use him again on any finish carpentry. I am a good finish carpenter (DIY) myself and a perfectionist and Tim fully met my expectations.

It went great. Except for the fact that mold had been growing on the sheet rock under the cherry beadboard ( probably from a leak years earlier when we had the rubber roof patched. but no visible signs of damage to our ceiling. This meant our whole ceiling needed to be replaced. Tim saw how beautiful our sun room had been & pledged to bring it back to it's original state. He tore out all the old beadboard & sheetrock. He reconstructed some of the beams & found a cherry beadboard that was like the original. His finish work was flawless & afterward he brought in a painter ( Kevin Schluetter ) who matched the off white color of the beams perfectly, did some repair work on the walls & then painted the whole room. Our sunroom is beautiful again!! Tim's work came to about $5200 & Kevin's was $1590.
Description of Work: Repaired the ceiling in our sunroom. Our flat roof leaked into our sunroom while we were on vacation. ( We had several bad rainstorms while we were gone & when we returned. Our sunroom has a cherry beadboard ceiling with white beams. After we had the roof replaced we searched Angie's list for a finished carpenter who did his own work. Tim was very busy, but with his high reviews, we wanted him for the work.
