Great Lakes Home Renovations has been exceeding the expectations of homeowners in the Twin Cities and beyond since 1995. We specialize in bathroom remodeling. Of course, we also love visiting your project; in-home inspections and design consultations are always free. All of the products we feature come with a lifetime warranty, are low maintenance and easy to clean. We won't install anything in your home we wouldn't put on our own home. In Bathroom Remodeling, we feature solid-surface products by Re-Bath and Onyx (NO MORE GROUT) that are easy-to-clean, low maintenance, fit into most budgets and come with Lifetime Warranties. We take pride in doing the job right. In bathrooms, we don't just cover up the problem of an old tub or shower, but replace it. We not only have our own employees that do the installations but also pull permits, get inspections and even offer financing options. On all projects, we offer a wide variety of colors and style options to fit virtually every style. You can rest easy knowing your project is done right and materials are guaranteed for life!

It didn't....
Description of Work: I had simply asked for an estimate on replacement windows and was told they would not meet with me unless my Husband was present. I am a home owner with my husband, but I will be funding this project. All I asked for was an estimate, but apparently because I'm a women, the sales manager would not meet with me alone. Very sexist and discriminating. I wouldn't want to work with this Company being treated this way. Big mistake as I've already ball parked our project in the range of $18,000 +.

Description of Work: I had them replace several of my windows in my duplex. I have used them five times over the past 5 years. They replace 4 or 5 windows for me each year. I have never had any complaints about the work they do. They bid the job, show up when they say they are, do the work, and clean up after themselves. They are a pleasant bunch. I have had the same crew every year. I expect to continue using them.

Description of Work: I ordered Five custom energy efficient double-hung wood-look windows in a size and style to match an 1889 Victorian home. The installers were efficient and great. They gave a wonderful demo in my estimate and were very informational. The product looks amazing and matches the style of the period. It has made my house MUCH warmer. The windows were expensive, over $1,000 per window, however, they were custom made and each were larger than a door. I love them. If I need more windows I am going to go with Great Lakes Windows and Siding again.

It wasn't horrible, but it could have been better. They kept putting us off. After the work was done they told us they were going to have someone come look at our basement and use it as a model. That was definitely a concern. They made promises that they were not able to keep.
Description of Work: They tore out all the drywall, put up new walls, put in an window, a suspended ceiling, and new electrical work.

The installation was supposed to take place when I was scheduled off work for a week. They didn't show but kept promising they would be out. The windows were done on time and they cleaned up well but there are ongoing issues. One window was installed and it was the wrong type of window. They had installed double crank-outs and it should have been a single according to code. He blamed it on human error. They fixed that window and it passed inspection, but there are other windows which are not the right size to pass code and are not aesthetically pleasing. There was another window (egress) in the basement bedroom which did not pass inspection because it is not wide enough for someone to get out the window. They changed the hardware but it did not pass inspection again because it is a bedroom window. Great Lakes says it is not a bedroom but it has been a bedroom for 19 years.
Description of Work: Installed 11 windows, siding on the entire house, new gutters, three doors and two storm door.

WE ARE TRULY SORRY THAT SHE IS UNHAPPY, BUT WE AT GREAT LAKES HONORED OUR CONTRACT WITH THEM. ALL PERMITS WERE CLOSED WITH THE CITY OF EAGAN (IN FACT THEY SAID OUR WORK WAS OUTSTANDING.) THE BASEMENT WINDOW IN QUESTION, THEY DID NOT CALL THAT ROOM A BEDROOM AT THE TIME OF SALE OR AT THE REMEASURE. IN ORDER TO RECEIVE PAYMENT FROM THEM,WE HAD TO LIEN THEIR PROPERTY ( A FIRST FOR US.) If he'd given us an up-front, lowest fair price at the beginning, instead of playing games, we might have chosen this company. I like that they are local, and that they stay involved in the community.
Description of Work: Sales rep came out to give us an estimate to replace siding. The presentation was the typical high-pressure variety, including offering a ''discount'' to match a competing bid because they ''had a cancellation and had a trailer ready to go'' if we would sign the contract right away.

SALESPERSON CAME TO THE HOME & USED HIGH PRESSURE SALES TACTICS, OFFERING RIGHT NOW DISCOUNTS. I LIKED THE QUALITY & COLOR IN THE BROCHURE & CHOOSE TO USE THEM. THE WINDOWS CAME QUICKLY, BUT THE COLOR DOESN'T MATCH MY EXISTING SIDING, OR THE BROCHURE. THE SALES PERSON TOLD ME NOT TO STOP THE INSTALLATION. I TALKED TO THE MANAGER WHO WAS RUDE, INSINCERE, AND CONDESCENDING. HE OFFERED $200 OFF IF I DIDN'T FILE A REPORT WITH ANGIE'S LIST, BUT I PREFER TO FILE THE REPORT & LET PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT MY EXPERIENCE.

They were very professional. In the estimate, they added that they would replace any wood needed in the bay window area. When we got in there it was much more extensive than we had thought; but, with no problem, they replaced it and no extra charge. The work was done on time, and done well. They answered all of our questions and even gave some suggestions.
