Description of Work: I had old overgrown shrubbery and the stump of an old pine tree removed. Then the old soil which was now acidic from the evergreens was removed and new black dirt put in and seeded for new grass. Along the house foundation a border of gravel was put in. They were very conscientious |about cleanup afterwards. I am happy!

Description of Work: I called to make an appointment to have an estimate put together to have my yard ripped out, dirt brought in and graded and new sod installed. First bad experience: Was told an 8AM appointment was too early because they were coming from Anoka and that was a long drive (I live in Minneapolis), so we settled on a 9AM appointment instead. Second bad experience: The day of the appointment, I received a voicemail 45 minutes before the appointment and was told the appointment was being cancelled because they assumed I was looking to have the job completed in the next couple of weeks and that they couldn't get it done that quickly. This was disappointing for a number of reasons: 1. If true, I should have been told this when I called to schedule the appointment, not 45 minutes before we were supposed to meet 2. I stayed home from work for the sole reason of meeting with them 3. Given that 8AM was too early and Anoka to Minneapolis was a long drive, I strongly suspect the reason the appointment was cancelled was because it was raining the morning of the appointment and they didn't want to drive in traffic. Since the project never came to fruition, I can't speak to the quality of their work (or even whether or not their pricing was competitive), but I can speak to an experience that was neither courteous nor customer-friendly.

 + -1 moreIt has gone really well so far. They went over immediately to give me a quote over the phone, since I live in SW Mpls and Shades of Green is up in Anoka (where my mother lives). They have plowed a few times already and my mom has been very happy with how quick they are and that they do a nice job.

 + 0 moreThe guys did a great job. They rebuilt the entire wall by hand to avoid messing up our grass too much. There was one issue with the wall that was addressed the day after we called about the issue. It has been 3 months since the work was done and we love the results. The price for the job was fair. We got 3 bids on this job and Shades of Green was the second lowest. We choose Shades of Green because they have been in business a long time and are well known in the area.
Description of Work: Bob's crew rebuilt our stone retaining wall. We were also thinking of having some additional landscaping done including pulling out old bushes and rocks and putting in new. Bob spent a great deal of time coming up with a design for us.

 + -1 moreBob Smith came out for an estimate of the cost for each plow job. Then he had me sign a contract concerning the number of inches of snow I wanted plowed and how much each time would cost. It was $40 for my driveway each time. We had a big 8 inch snowfall one time, and he came with a front end loader to remove it carefully. He also put up flags so his plow wouldn't scape my lawn on the edges. I was Very satisfied. Now I am in the process of contracting with this company to do my spring yard cleanup.
