NORTH STAR FENCE

They did an excellent job. It was very professional and the finished product looks great. The actual putting the fence up took a bit longer as we had it done st the end of the fall season in 2016, and st the time they were trying to get all the fence post holes dug for all their clients prior to the ground freezing. They had informed us of this before hand though so we were prepared - it just took a bit longer than anticipated.

Great, everyone was professional, helpful and reasonably priced. They took the initiative to put the fence posts closer together and gave me steel roods which can be placed in the ground/again Huskies-they dig! Provided excellent service, on time, accommodating. I did not have any concerns and they completed the job as promised. Understood and respected that it is "all about the dogs!" I feel assured they will be safe in their new home, finger's crossed! Highly recommend their service!

John was accomodating from the start, coming to give us a bid on a Saturday, showing me samples of the wood they would use and what the fence posts would look like. This is not a "salesperson" with glossy brochures. He knows his stuff and gives you the information you need. Their prices were around the same as other companies we had but the picket came in a bit less. Other companies were telling me they were a couple of months out to do the job, John said they would try to fit it in before winter really set in. Luckily the weather held and they got the posts set right before it got really cold and finished the job that week. All of the workers were very professional, knew what they were doing and the finished product looks great.

It went very well. John (the owner) came out the day that i called him to provide an estimate. The quality of the material he uses is superior to most other companies. John does the installation of all ornamental fences himself so you are getting someone with many years of experience and shows attention to detail. For example, he knew we have a little dog and was careful to make sure there were no gaps along the bottom or sides of the fence where it could get out. In the end, i received a superior fence at a lower cost than his competitors.

It went very well. John was easy to work with to set-up a free estimate and continued to provide estimates as we made up our minds. Once we decided on the fence we were told it would be about 3-weeks to installation. It ended up being closer to 5-weeks which was fine, but we received no updates on the status. We really didn't mind waiting a few more weeks, but a call providing us with a new timeline would have been appreciated. Otherwise, the team showed up one day and put in the posts and came back a few days later to finish the fence. The fence looks great and appears to be installed really well (solid fence and nice and straight). We love it and would definitely recommend North Star Fence!

Everything went well. They were great when coming out for the estimate. The workers did a great job. The fence looks great and my yard was left clean of all dirt and debris. Loved it. And even more importantly, my dogs love it!

John was an absolute pro. The gate he fabricated was a work of art and functions very well. He paid special attention to the fact that we have small dogs that are magicians at getting under a fence and he made sure that the gate just cleared the grass to keep the little escape artists from getting out. I would most certainly use North Star again in the future.

Jeff came personally to install the posts. All were put in concrete and the row is perfectly straight. He took away the old 6ft wooden fence and cleaned up the area. Jeff estimated his crew would be back on Friday, however, they were able to come the next day. Two men installed the fencing and top rails. Put in the gate, touched up the gate corners with paint and left the yard is perfect shape. The men were cordial and professional. I would definitely use them again.

They were very quick in coming out to meet with me regarding my needs. Fencing was all completed within 6 days from start to finish. I had 5' galvanize fence installed with over sized gated doors. Job well done and looks very nice.

These guys were awesome. I have a fairly decent sized yard in NE Minneapolis that I needed to replace the old, damaged chain-link fence in. The job turned out to be much more work than initially anticipated and Northstar Fence rose to the occasion without complaint. One side of the yard was filled with old stumps, roots, and a few trees in the way of the new fence. The guys removed ALL of the stumps, roots, and trees that need to go in order to make sure that our new fence was installed properly and that it would last without damage from the tree growth. They could have simply placed the new fence with the ground as is, which would have fulfilled their obligations, but would have required us to repair the fence in a matter of a few years. They honestly cared about the quality of the work, and we couldn't be happier. Further, John, the owner, personally did the work with his crew (they even came out over the weekend to work) and was accessible to us when we had questions. I highly recommend their services!

I am not one to write reviews, but I was motivated to because of this business. Jeff was our project manager, from bid to finish they were awesome. North Star was fairly busy, so we had to wait about 3 weeks for install, but as you know... Busy means they are good. I am a pretty particular guy, so for me to be happy is A++. Jeff Met me late in the day for a bid, wrote it out on the spot. He also showed me samples of the high quality board they use, and the difference in his compared to others. Also, the type of posts they use. It took a day to install the posts, and Jeff was the Forman. We had a very particular way to lay out the fence, and they followed it to a tee. They stated a week later they would be out to do the panels. This was a different crew, and we were impressed by them also. Because of the size it took 2 guys, 2 days, but I was glad they took the time to make it right. North Star was great with ideas, very good with paperwork ( I do a ton of contracting, so my requirements they took care of immediately ) and I have to say especially Jeff did an A++ Job keeping us in the loop, and dealing with questions as they came. The city inspector was out to final the job, and even he was impressed. I feel confident in recommending them to others, they are true professionals

This is my 4th fence with North Star Fence. With each project the company has shown top rate professionalism and completed the job in a timely manner. This last fence required a special gate tailored to fit my beachfront area. No other fence company was wiling or able to accommodate my landscape needs. The fence was constructed with the highest workmanship and quality.

I Met with Jim Larson at the start of July to get an appraisal on some fencing work. He came to my house and was polite and friendly. The job was small (which I stated even on the initial call), and although Jim did not think North Star could do it, one of their employees who did side work on weekends would. I was told this worker's side jobs were even sanctioned by the owner, so I felt it would be completed. While Jim was at my house, he called Jeff (the other employee) who was at a job and told him what the work entailed. Jim took a look at the materials I had already purchased and told Jeff they'd be fine to work with. With that, Jim told me Jeff would call me in the next few days to set up a time, and if not, i should call Jim back. No calls from Jeff came, so i called Jim who said he would get on Jeff to call me. Jeff did not call. Called Jim again a week later, same story, still no callback from Jeff. Finally, on the 26th, I called Jim one last time and asked a bit more bluntly if this job was going to happen. He told me that all he could do was call Jeff and if I didn't get a response, I was out of luck. I appreciate that my fencing job is not a huge one, but the contractor did see it first hand and led me to believe it could be done. Obviously, I wouldn't even leave a negative review if they had just said "we can't do it" after seeing it. I understand people get busy, but hey, don't make me wait a month to find out that the job you said you could do for me you won't do after all. Edit: Addendum. John, i wish I could remove this review, I really do. All of the positive comments left by other customers were a deciding factor in me calling North Star in the first place. I cannot however, and I'll restate the reason in short form. Jim, a sales rep of North Star, came to my house as a representative of North Star. Further, Jim told me that Jeff, another employee from your company, would be able to do it, and that he would call me. This didn't happen. Again, all your employee had to do was one of the following: 1. do the work I was told your employee would do, 2. call me and tell me he could not for whatever reason ("I'm too busy" would have been fine), or 3. not tell me initially that the work could be done in the first place. None of these things happened. I'm sorry you don't see the need to follow through with the agreements made by your employees.

Service was not performed. Jim came out to give us an estimate and was initially very good and receptive. However when my husband called him back to ask questions about the fence and pricing, he said he would give us a call back and never did.

If you need a fence in the Twin Cities area and don't mind waiting these are your guys. There is a reason there is a wait the price cant be beat and the quality is superb. My expectations were exceeded with how our black chain link fence looks. I have nothing negative to say about this company and cannot give enough good praises. Skip the big fence companies and go for these local guys and you'll see the difference in the details.

I was researching North Star again since we need a fence at our new home. I was so happy with our first installation (in 2009) that I instantly thought we'd check them out first. In 2009 we priced it out to do it ourselves and got two quotes from others. North Star was only a little more expensive than doing it ourselves, and it would be done by professionals. The whole process went smooth and it has held up great. We can't wait to work with them again at our new home.

Right from the start they were very responsive. We put out calls to several other companies and they were the first to come visit for an estimate. Of those estimates, they were one of the cheapest. There were 2 different crews. One for the tear out and new post install, then the second to finish the fence. Both crews were fast and clean. We've had previous jobs where cigarette butts or other garbage is left in our yard, but none of that with these guys. The fence looks great. Its straight and even all around the yard. The materials and installation look great. I also really liked that they didn't ask for any money until the end of day 1 (once we had the new posts in place). Several others were wanting money up front when you signed the contract.

North Star Fence was great to work with. They came in at a reasonable price and provided great service. They were able to install our fence a lot faster than we were expecting and did a great job. I would highly recommend them.

A friend recommended North Star to me after having a good experience with a fence replacement. John (who is a pretty funny guy) came out to measure and estimate several different options for our new fence. Also, he showed me some examples of the materials that North Star uses. I was very impressed with the material and price compared to the other contractors we spoke with. North Star uses true 4x4 posts and 3/4and quot; fence boards that they source from their own supplier in Canada. Also, the price was $1,000 cheaper than our next-lowest bid. (We received bids from 3 other area contractors.) Their charge for removal of the old fence was very reasonable compared to other contractors. It seems that they are very busy, as it took a full month for them to come out to get started. When the first crew came to remove the old fence and install the posts, they took time to review the install with me to ensure that I was happy. The second crew came exactly a week later to finish the install, once again reviewing the details with me before they got started. Both crews did a great job cleaning up after themselves, and were very friendly. I'm extremely happy with the job they did and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them or use them in the future for more work.

I learned of Northstar fence from a friend who had them do two fences for her in the past. Prior to closing on the house John came out and did an estimate. I was closing on June 25 and moving in on July 14th and needed the fence up for my 5 dogs when I moved in. Northstar was significantly less than the other estimates I received. John started the fence on Friday 7/11 and finished on Monday 7/14 just as he promised he would. He was on site both days and his team did an awesome job. They made sure the fence was secure for my dogs and made sure it looked great ( did some trenching to keep it flat on top etc). They cleaned up so I didn't have anything to do. The quality of the fence is much better than previous fences I've put in and it looks great. Couldn't be happier.

It went great! John came out and measured and gave us a quote. They were about 3 weeks out, which. Was a little disappointing, but not a deal breaker. I figure that a busy business means it's a good business! They came out and put in the posts one day, the. Came back about a week later to install the rest. They were very friendly and our fence looks great! UPDATE We decided to do our last section of fencing after the fact (we thought our neighbor was doing it but it fell through) I called John and they're going to come out and do it for us in a few weeks (they're still out that far) and even give us a break on the price. Usually they won't do a job that's less than $1500, but since they've already been out, we're a previous customer, and it's so close to when they did the other one, he's only charging us $1100. I appreciate him being able to work with us for our unforeseensituation. What great customer service
